bluegrass belting out
its lonesome sultry offbeat ~
subtle jazzy roots

Bluegrass Country

fiddler speeds music up
dancers are getting dizzy
crowd claps and stamps
you are in hillbilly country now
make some noise if you want to live
bluegrass is real here

Meadow Plays Bluegrass

Meadow was born out of a long line of fiddlers
Her bluegrass roots showed out without apology
We were tapping our feet after the first three notes
Songbirds hovered close, to get a better seat.

She’s a Williams all right, Old Grandma Williams said.
This is her Hatchet roots showing through said Aunt Hatchet.
Their feud was well-known in the Tennessee

Nature's Music

fiddle heads unfurl
bluegrass music sounds in breeze
hear nature's banjo

Shoot Out the Stars

"Gonna shoot a little dice
Play a little cards
Drink a little beer
and shoot out the stars
Gonna dance with the girl in calico dress
Live to raise hell, ain't no time to rest"

Sittin' at a table playing five card draw
Losing money faster than you ever saw
I looked at the dealer said, where y'all from
He smiled real big and

Spent All My Money On You

I'm coming back to this town
It's been years since I've been around
Ain't much changed in the time since I've been gone

I went to the same old bar
Where I played like I was a star
That same old place you said that we were through

I asked all the people there
If you were here and where
They all laughed

Southern Joy

Metronome heart beats in 4/4 time while mandolin chimes in staccato voice.  In the background, guitar hums and banjo sings.  Bluegrass echoes across southern winds; blues and mountain music force a dance from tranquil feet; it’s a concert fit for country royalty, at the Opry.  The East coast clogs and smiles.

Cotton fluff Frames the tree tops; 
brother sun salutes a wandering sky.

Cardinal sits in the pear tree; 
few are left of his kind.  
A bright red visage on a green canvas.

Sipping mocha bliss is a delight amid blues and 
greens of a Kentucky morning.

Grass of bluish haze carpets the land 
once rich with tobaccos

Weiser Bluegrass Festival

Never been to a festival before
But agreed to go with AL to Weiser
I had no idea what was in store
The way Al described it, was a teaser

The Weiser Festival is a week long
We stayed in Al’s camper; kept the cost down 
On this kind of trip, I couldn’t go wrong
All night playing music in the

Bluegrass Music

Must have a banjo
To get that Bluegrass sound
The bass is needed
To nail the rhythm down

Fiddle plays a lead
Tingles go up your spine
Guitar keeps the beat
Or picks melody line

The Mandolin chop
Makes the Bluegrass whole
Greater than its parts
Music of solid gold

A Bluegrass Jam Fairy Tale -Followed By the Sequel

Just having fun at a bluegrass jam
When a stranger came up to me
He asked, “What sex is your mandolin”?
I said, “Where do I look to see”?

Alright said he, does it have a name?
Sure, I sometimes call her “Lexie”
Well there you have it, she’s a female
I guess you’re right, cause she’s sexy
