From
atop
a mountain
one views Bifrost
hoping, no, fighting for entry to the
heavenly home of exalted Aesir
to find honor,
glory for
noble
death

Bifrost!
The grave for Muspell’s sons
The Frost!
The strength of coldest month.
Fenrir
Has eaten sun so fast
Don’t fear!
We kill because we must.
Disgrace!
The breath of Ragnarok!
No chains
For Giant Wolf and Dog.
Heimdall
Is playing Gjallarhorn
The hull
Of Naglfar won’t turn.
The Thor’s
Not better than Great Snake
Last War
Of gods, and Surt will make
The Flame
For Earth and human race
The Shame
We’re meeting face to face.
Bifrost
Has fallen to the Deep
Pale ghost
Of us will have to weep!
Big Garm
Is carrying wounded moon
The charm
Of Death will come so soon.

If I was a goddess or better yet a god
I would get on the bifrost and be calm.
I would try not to gloat at the mortals so odd,
Singing a little ditty, hymn, or song
I would hear their keen mortal prayers flying by
So I would sing louder in a drowning out way
I would intentionally not notice the ones who cry
Focusing on other gods on the Bifrost today
Puffed up, knowing we are all the best of the best
These mortals would not steal our thunder,
Walking proudly and glorified, two or three gods abreast,
We would barely think of those left down under.

Heat hovers in the violet evening veil,
Adorned by she whose violent eyes glow white.
As static from her nimbus iris hails,
Ionic bolts of plasmic sound and light
Reveal sights of what’s hiding in the night.
Such nonce electric shocks across the sky,
Which tear the air with bolts of dynamite,
‘Tis but bitter breath blown from but a sigh,
Heaved from the bifrost ‘fore an Asgardian eye.

From Valhalla’s fortress of spears and shields,
Valkyrie riders make their daily runs…
Crossing Bifrost to Midgard’s battlefields,
Harvesting warriors till Ragnorak comes.
Flying from Valhalla on their war horses,
Thundering hooves beat like old battle drums,
Odin’s blond daughters watching the forces--
Harvesting warriors till Ragnorak comes.
Legionnaires, Pikemen, Hussars and Spartans;
Storm Troopers, Crusaders and Saracens;
Musketeers, Vikings, and Gladiators;
Watusi, Cossacks, and Conquistadors.
As long as men hear the sounds of war drums,
They’ll harvest the best till Ragnorak comes.
Valkyries search for those to stand vanguard,
Recruiting Odin’s Einherjar armies.
Warriors pass Valgrind to live in Asgard--
Honored to be served by the Valkyries.
Hoplites, Commandoes, and Mujahideens;
Samurais, Yeomen, and US Marines;
Guerrilas, Dragoons, and Panzer Tankers;
Grenadiers, Mamelukes, and Bezerkers.
As long as men hear the sounds of war drums,
Valkyries harvest till Ragnorak comes.
