Best Voraciously Poems

You must be in so much pain to be considering this.
The hurt, the misery, the anguish, the agony;
you can feel it burrowing its way deep inside,
gnawing voraciously at the very core of your being
and you would do anything - anything - just to make it stop.

I know you're scared; but that's okay - the World can be a scary place,
but can this last, desperate, act that you're deliberating,
really, truly, genuinely be what you are seeking...?
Dispel fanciful notions of sliding into Death's warm embrace;
there is no gentle kiss, no sweet release and off to sleep.
You will simply... no longer be; and that is just too dreadful to contemplate.

It might not feel like it now, but things *will* get better.
The future is laden with hope and ripe with potential,
however, the complex rivulets of life are often turbulent
and we must ride them out if we are to reach the next bend.
But if you take this final, irrevocable, step... you will never know what awaits.
And therein lies the real tragedy.

So please, I implore you, reach out to a friend or a loved one;
talk to them, share your burdens and, maybe, even shed a few tears.
The future will look brighter tomorrow and I want you there to see it.

Written for Suicide Prevention Month.

My thoughts go out to all those affected by the tragedy of losing a loved one in this way and, especially, to those struggling with their own thoughts of suicide. Please... speak to somebody.

Prism

Each Friday recedes in burgundy
Bathed ardently in Luna’s kiss

                     But, Sunday will dawn cerulean
With dulcet tones of lovers’ bliss

Bearing flavors wantonly consumed
I greet each hue voraciously

I taste the spectrum more than I see
                    My senses piqued peculiarly

As kaleidoscopic concertos
Obscure my sight in grand array

                   Each blending shade completes the phrasing;
                   Brilliantly, prism love songs play

Winter's End

Winter’s fury
has long died;
fading, weary,
she comes to pass.
Sunlight spills
across open yards,
blotted white -
then, one last
chilled breath
escapes with might
before succumbing
to southern breeze.
The seasons
transform with ease.
Subdued colors
slowly brighten -
in budding delight,
rising, swaying,
searching sky,
they sleep no more.
Pale cheeks,
soft to touch,
cheerfully blush.
Love blooms
in wake of warmth
and bubbling sounds
of children’s laughter.
Under a hearty sun,
bare feet and legs
long to lilt
as passion follows
deepening breath
out to taste the open air,
waiting for night
to kiss in the flush
of descending moonlight –
as shooting stars
sleep no more.
last sparks in the fireplace
cool, no longer needed
to kindle romance.
Feeling alive,
I soften to the touch
of spring dew,
the joyous music -
rustling leaves,
songbird’s melody,
fresh falling rain;
nature’s dance,
taking her time
to seed waking soil
until she voraciously
catches fire
seeking summer
like a lost love –
a restless gypsy
on a journey-
she sleeps no more.
Spring dresses earth
in liveliest colors…
and I smile,
Overwhelmed with the beauty
touching my soul
and sun showers falling
on sweetened dreams.

Voices filling my mind
vailed beneath languid lips,
voraciously needing
valerian release.
Vain are my attempts to
vocalize her desire.

Calling out with his loud shrill cry
While winging through an azure sky,
Low clouds back light intrepid flight.
Strong talons grasp prey in sharp sight
As feathers float on current's wave,
I view a raptor bold and brave.
Majestic in his swooping quest
He soon returns to guard his nest.
Fledgling beaks open eagerly
Accepting gifts voraciously.
Tree top dwelling, their sacred home
Where King avian victors roam.
The golden eagle, soaring high,
Flies triumphant through autumn's sky.

Premium Member Freezing Point

The river flowing tumble of snow
jackets the buildings and the road
on the last twilight of 1998.

As the sky is slowly draped by darkness and coolness,
there I am on the coldest loneliest walk of my life.

All around, I can see some dancing colored lights.
The houses spells the happy shadows of families.
Some sharing a meal.
Some laughing out loud near their Christmas tree.
Some on the middle of a party.

Christmas carols flying free on mid-air like:

"...But heaven surely knows
That packages and bows
Can never heal a hurting human soul..."

With only a coat, long thick black hair kissed by snow
and some old worn socks to warm me,
I traverse the street--
finding, finding a place I can call home.

About six days ago... I was also with my parents,
so happy, though we only share some bread and cheese
plus porridge that Christmas day.

Me and my parents hugged every night
allowing me to stand the icy nights of December
under the roof of our wooden worn-out home.

My parents though they can't read nor write,
they diligently work day by day for our needs specially mine.
I wasn't given any gift nor we can't everyday eat some meat.
However, my days with them are filled with fun-loving memories.

Not until...

a monstrous fire eat voraciously
our home and three other houses nearby.
My father though old with arthritis
carried me fast as he can to a safe place
and so my mother but ---
father ran back to the house
to save some of our things but unfortunately...
The roof of our home fell.
The fire so ferocious swallowed everything including my father.

My mom and I dealt with this pit of tragedy as one
but later I saw my mother slowly, slowly crumbling down.
She more than me is slowly falling down faster.
Her lamp of hope blown out.
And not long, past six on the same day my mother died.

Hence as the surrounding gets cold
so is the the life of me gradually reaching the freezing point.

WRITTEN IN DRUGS OF RAIN

Unscrupulous vulture-like officials standing inside skyscrapers;
they croon softly, but wield their pretentious tongues like blades--
casting spells on a throng of marginalized heads
whose mouths and bellies were squeezed and dried.

The promises they speak were written in a drugged rain
blown by the wind and dispersed in grains of misconception.
Beguiled man bit the taste and was addicted without haste.
(candle of hope was trampled --toppled down to fade..)

Secretly, these greedy, flesh -eating crocodiles of today
collude under wooden tables.
Their lust for gold and silver screaming,
they fill their jars of wickedness;
voraciously they feed their minds-- harlots of desire.

The big bellied ones whistle trying to clamp
leeches who don't only suck blood but also innocence;
but when the cluster of eggs break-- hatches
as they run so fast and release a loud.... prrrrt!

The misuse of drugs and ignorance cause
bodies to be spread in dirty smelly gutters.
The users mutilated dignity comes from a constant craving for
shots and puffs from these drugs leading to
gruesome miscarriage of suppose to be~~

--golden flowering dreams for tomorrow,
--transformers to a more unified earth,
--angels bearing an eye for justice and peace.

Manifold arrests for drugs affect the youth
and all others who grasp the illusions of euphoria.
Concerned individuals' throat drying cries, a forlorn scourge of agony...
Oh God, what sight that will be!

And now,

Shall we, knowledgeable of the effects of drug addiction, let such things happen?
Won't we drubbed such escalated catena of grief by doing something?
What can we impart?
What can we do to care?
When will we start?

Poetrysoup

It happened quite accidentally
As if by chance, this anomaly
I did not know how it could be
That here is where I’d post my poetry

A poem I had written today
Remembering World War One Day
I’d written what I’d had to say
Not too long winded as is my normal way

It seems so strange as I recall
How I did through google trawl
Fishing for a place I’d call
A library for my poems all

And there it was among them all
Poetrysoup as I recall
“What a strange name” I thought out loud
As its name just seem to stand put proud

I opened the site and what surprise
Myriad Poets and poems before my eyes
Like a child I clicked from “room to room”
And voraciously did verse consume

People read our verse and comment some
Each and every word all welcome
What a friendly affable lot
This worldwide kitchen in one pot

At last, a place to call my own
Along with others for their poems’ home
This meeting place; this PoetrySoup
Makes me feel so cock-a-hoop

Kissing lucious mound

To late for contest but I thought I would give it a go anyway.

A Parabola By Picasso

A Parabola By Picasso

On piece of paper painted picture of a parabola
And started cutting it off with a small spatula
Put plaster of Paris in protruding plastic syringe
After seeing ugly color I then started to cringe.

All the color on parabola had just been sprayed
Out in bright sun is where finally had been laid
Poor parabola outside until it all did dry
And then it was sold to someone passing by.

Parabola and artist they both did part
Now in galleria is perfect, priceless piece of art
On who for this artful should we place the blame:
Did you know Picasso happened to be his name.

An observer of Picasso paintings was half-lit
And chewed up Picasso picture bit by bit
By creator he voraciously had been beguiled
When it was spit out all of the people smiled.

So even though you may not be the smartest
And on picture of parabola worked the hardest
Ray of hope on it appeared from out of the dark
All the other great artists gave it a glowing remark.

Peeling An Onion

There is a truth in you my friend
both heady and unique
that makes my sense of smell
take flight,
and drives my curiosity.

I carve away voraciously,
cut deep and cut again
til glossy bulb is
ringed layers
of dazzling luminosity.

Sweet orbed bands,
I plate them out,
in artful presentation
gleaming rings I praise, admire
the aim of my pomposity

I peel, and peel, and peel again
core’s perfect pearl revealed
And I in awe,
Relish, delight
devour you aromally

The Poverty of a Prosperous Nation

Our prosperity lies not in the dead we celebrate
but in the lives we liberate and educate.
Our poverty lies not in the funds we lack
but in the giants who are slow and slack.

I see the stars sinking in the ocean of death
and fishes flying in the skies without breath...
Priority is imprisoned, confusion reigns,
the future is left in the pit of past pains.

Virtues vacated the villa of our vocabulary
dignity is denied a space in our dictionary.
Committees commune to commit crimes,
the common man faces terrible times...

Our terrains have been sold to terrorists,
our borders voraciously vomit tourists.
Western pests with logs in their eyes
are now the ones who seem to be wise...

Stealing of public funds is not corruption;
our best legacy is now road construction.
Those we call fools do not lack wisdom,
the wise among us rules in thraldom.

The poverty of a prosperous nation thrives...
When friuts do not allow seeds to survive.
Shall we stop fueling the greedy minority
and start feeding the needy majority.
