Premium Member Your Love Redeemed My Faith In Hope - a Collaboration With Robert Lindley

Across the dance floor, your soft sashaying gown flew
with its bright waving gleams of silver dust and blue;
within that blessed gaze, lonesome heart jumped a beat
seeing those golden slippers on your dainty feet,
feeling love's welcomed arrows shot by Cupid's bow
knowing that most treasured gift would forever grow!

That cool June night we walked under golden moon's beams
with your heart and soul gifting love that so redeems;
this man that had lost heart and walked a blind path
death long ago condemned this soul to darkest wrath,
torn asunder joy in life that had been a gift
chained this spirit upon a black-ship set adrift!

Loss of my beloved I once lived blind despair
wading through this evil world's black pits without care;
her sweet love reminding me of Hope that was lost,
found anew when your destined path with mine was crossed.
I saw the world with open eyes but could not see
Faith, till sight was laid upon fair beauty of thee...

Your rosy warmth danced with grace thawing my cold heart,
seduced by rousing rhythm never would we part.
My heart began to waltz and pallid pulse did race
as I saw charmed moonlight caress your angel’s face,
I longed forevermore to tilt your chin and kiss
your promising sunrise lips of heavenly bliss.

That early summer’s eve I took a leap of faith
willing to let go of my haunting lost love wraith,
I found with you the heart to fall in love once more
and glissade you in my arms ‘cross life’s ballroom floor.
Alone in love’s spotlight of golden moon beam’s glow
you have my whole attention for you stole the show.

The Wonderful Journey of the Butterfly

This beautiful journey begins
From a courtship routine
The male perch themselves on leaves
And create a glorious scene
Waiting for a female
Just to fly on by
Now he has his chance
But, she’ll be the one to decide

The male needs to find out
Whether she’s been fertilised
If she’s already pregnant
He’s soon going to realise
She’ll release a powerful chemical
Which is called ‘pheromone ‘
That tells him she’s unavailable
So he might have to fly and roam

Soon after they have mated
She looks for a place to lay
Laying her tiny eggs
Mostly oval in shape
She can lay two hundred or more
Just in a single day
But she needs to find a milkweed
On this beautiful sun spring day

The tiny little caterpillars
Start to grow inside
Eggs no bigger that a pin heads
And thats no word of a lie
They feed on the milkweed
And the enzymes in the egg
Until these little caterpillars
Start growing up really big

Now when they hatch
From their eggs
They will eat and eat and eat
Eating up everything
Of those milkweed leaves
They will start expanding
Getting bigger and bigger
Shedding their skin several times
Now that is really clever

Then they just stop eating
And know their time has come
For their stunning transformation
Four stages have begun
They’re find a special twig or leaf
And hang them-selves upside down
Then spin a silky cocoon
Where they won’t be found

It’s called metamorphosis
Turned into a shiny chrysalis
Inside the caterpillars’ changing
Into a beautiful butterfly
It dissolves itself into a soup
That’s truly organised
Inside a process is taking place
It’s forming disc’s, a body, a face

This wonder of nature you can see
When they emerge victoriously
This transition takes some time
For the birth of an exquisite butterfly
One of nature’s beautiful scenes
Celebrating new birth in spring
The reproduction of a butterfly
A remarkable cycle, that does not die

The Black Hills wept for Thee

East of the Black Hills of South Dakota,
On the Pine Ridge Reservation,
Live a proud tribe of Oglala Lakota,
Part of the Great Sioux Nation.

On saddled chargers rode half the Regiment,
of the Seventh Cavalry.
A tune they played on behalf of the GarryOwen,
was such a sight to see.

While climbing through Prickly pines, they spied,
near the summit of Porcupine Butte.
Spotted Elk with Hunkpapa Lakota tribe,
the chief of the Minneconjou.

Five miles West through the cold day they walked,
the Lakota and soldiers of the Seventh,
Where Wounded Knee creek's icy waters balked,
between hell and heaven.

The Colonel ordered all of the tribe's rifles confiscated,
while the braves danced the ghost dance.
For rumor had spread of a new religion, long awaited,
that would turn the tide of chance.

Then suddenly came the report of rifles fired,
as the women and children fled to a ravine.
From the heights the thunder of cannon, now inspired,
close quarter fighting and lead, now convened.

Who knows where Providence went,
on that cold December morning.
Both guilty and innocent, now spent,
lay dead with little warning.

Bodies of the fallen now sprawled across the snowy plains,
with faces frozen in a moment of violence.
One mass grave with all, is all that remains,
of tears and laughter forever silenced.

In the days that followed medals were pinned to chests,
who proclaimed victoriously.
Though God only knows why, ignoble and divest,
life taken in vain, ingloriously.

In the shadow of the land of Sitting Bull,
was now told the tragic story.
Passed down from Mother to Daughter were recounted,
days of lost glory.

“Let us put our minds together to see what life we can make for our children.”

Thirsty Sea (Slightly Mature Content)

the indelible scent of ecstasy filled their auras
with the fragrance of lovemaking spent and
aroused passion anxious to be tasted then
devoured…skin forged on skin…a magical collaboration
of need satisfying need…moments when love
takes you far beyond reality…no limits…
no borders…nothing refused… your physical surrender
a mere formality as flesh seeks flesh…
frolicking taste-buds unlocking rivers of dreams whose
surge simply washes away the pain of loveless
droughts past …in a heartbeat forever forgotten

all resistance simply ripped away as
flame licks ice as if it were candy… mouths drawn to loins
scented by eucalyptus that once inhaled becomes
unforgettable and forevermore addictive as
the taste of warm summer honey cloaks the soul

the strength of passion is found in its gentleness
the luxury of being touched so deeply…so intimately
your soul is turned inside out…eager to respond
the relentless tongue victoriously plays hide and seek
as a master…once found you beg for the mercy of more
you are never the same again…ever…as if a thirsty
sea lay within your soul and its tide is forever restless
paradise found …over and over…emptiness abandoned
as if a decree by the gods of love…two scents becoming
one..the air you breathe forever shared…the promise of
forever scratched on your skin as if you were a trophy

Heart Song On a Milk Carton. (Reposted)

Wont you find me here?
Drifting in an expanse of swirling storm
Outstreched fingers graze debris...
         recklessly circling reminders.
Stand in the eye with me
     Hold
         This
             Ground.
 Lick our wounds rebounding
Warriors victoriously smiting circumstance
  leaving wolves discouraged
    disparaging darkness with insane glee
 Walk here and find me
   Reach out think here

You create me and I construct you
  Piece me in missing places
   Mending voids delicate and knowing
I slay inherited growths of insecurity
Stating truths untold to your beautiful ears

          Combine
               Know this warmth....
    Let these branches sprawl
grow in all directions to withstand walls closing in
A grand old tree would remain...generations of our eyes
taking glance from limbs strong and true

You crush my cycle--end it's existence
  I'll destroy your boundary...kill it's constriction
Our tower stronger and rooted
Yet with loftier cloud grazing height
lets disorient ourselves in this foreign altitude
                Touch this sky with me

Garden Delight

Sanctus!
Sanctus!
Sanctus!
Unison of voices in floral cathedral
Viola and pansies, a chorus of daisies
Amarrylis Chrisanthemum Agapanthus
Cascades of colour inviting a crescendo
Yellow petalled flowers of the sun
Bowed in prayerful contrition
To the Great and glorious One
Agape throats of ululating halleluia
Victoriously perched in garden Getsemane
Infected the song of creatures on high
Flying flowers of the sky
Glorificamus Tè
Benedictimus Tè
Adoramus Tè
Here come the butterflies
Flitting and darting and dashing and fun
Unhinged and erratic in zigzagging flight
Probing proboscis a coiled searching spring
Suffronic powder cover their knees and their wings
Urgent the nectar! The burrowing bees
Assembly of beauty -I become undone
Annointing my spirit- unfurling my sight

Greeting God’s goodness’ glow graciously
Hoisting hopefulness-height hastily…

Joining journey’s joy-jolting
Kindling kindness keeping kindred-knitting

OF AN EBONY HUED MID-SUMMER NIGHT DREAM
(Apropos of We Kings, Queens, and The Fiery Furnace)

Indeed, this is a day the Lord has made:-
Considering last night’s revelation dreaming,
Waking up into this day the Lord has made,
I must enjoy and be glad for being still vertical.

Although “The Great Dream” may have been deferred,
Indeed, it has not been forgotten and deterred.
Oh, they may have murdered its dreamer, but
His and our liberation dream is immortal:-

Looking out over the horizon of our challenged life,
It is realized that we Exodus people have come a long way;
Survivors of the blood-stained shadows of horrific death:-
And we have come this far on the sojourn by faith.

Yes, we have come this far by an inherent faith—continuing
To maintain and sustain us in the present perils of our lives:-
And as African-Americans, surviving in this deemed “promise land”,
We’ve had and continue to have a special kind of relationship with God.

During our living experiences here during and after debilitating slavery,
We’ve seen, heard, felt, and responded to the Word of God in ways that
Are unique to us as an African people of God; for indeed, as chosen ones,
We’ve always been able to sing and praise God in truth and in holy spirits.

Reflecting on the truth of ourstory, it is realized that we are of a people
Whom many would have expected to have stopped singing and praying
A long time ago; yet, from generation to generation, we’ve just kept on
Singing and praising and trusting in the love of God and His redemption.

Indeed, sacred revelations continue to bring us from extermination
To exaltation, from degradation of dignity, from nobody to somebody;
With wide wondering eyes on the prize, we continue to sojourn onward
For our eyes have seen His glory as we have continued marching in His truth.

Indeed, we not only believe but know that in the savior’s favor
Life is and while our perils may endure here a little while longer,
We know that a liberating joyful stay here on earth is on the horizon
Promised by that very present help to those who live in good trouble;

Thus, let us not be exhausted nor deterred by the ghost tyranny
But with undying faith and spiritual strength, let us victoriously
Demonstrate that we are not of the children of Sisyphus’ fate;
But living reflections of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego:-

Premium Member Stoic View of Life

Our path, sometimes grows arduous with bends and twists.
Trials of life keep tormenting us and others.
It's miserable to watch or endure such suffering.
But despite all heartache, we feel we are not done.

When I see the swamp bird with broken wings
Struggling to rise from the water’s edge.
When I see the deer, running away from its predator,
With all its might, I am filled with a zest to fight all odds.

In my doubt, such scenes fill me with reassurance,
Making me feel the rush of blood in my veins.
Today is the only day, a minutia of life,
To get all wrongs right, to seize all opportunity.

Adversities can hang heavy on us, pulling us down.
But muster courage and catch the bull by its horn.
Winds may blow, tempests may rise,
But don’t relent, persevere, and endure.

Never allow your fears parade victoriously
Through the spectrum of your dreams
When you feel life as bland and monochrome
Think of the colors of the rainbow arching in heaven

To make life sweet, recall all the sweet moments,
Those that you want to re-live again
Sure, there are a million of them, joyous and sweet,
Exciting, and engaging, pouring balm on our scars.

Let us freeze those moments in time!
Too precious to go off our heart.
They make life worth living, worth cherishing,
Giving each fresh morning a kick start.

Have you forgotten to laugh over a prank?
Have you stopped watching a lovely scene?
Have you evaded a gregarious company?
Have you failed to enjoy a savory cuisine?

Break free of all the ropes that bind!
Let loose the spirit within and let it fly high.
Shed out your dry reticence n’ reserve!
Let your geniality, many hearts win!

Premium Member War of Words

Pappou, means grandfather in Greek,
He would listen carefully then speak,
Cleanse yourself first and heal,
Any rifts or wounds that gnaw.
Chose wisdom over wrath he’d say
Your time to fail, he would explain,
Will be entirely of your own choosing.
So open your minds and listen,
Understand your words,
And keep improving.

Don’t waste precious words, like snow
Falling in the desert,
Or as the claws of barren branches
Reaching out from a lone tree
Just prepare yourself,
To be body, mind, and soul free.

A war of words can be intelligently
Won, Without any snapping or
Or fighting back,
For then you loose the track,
By fighting back,
So keep on the track,
And you will victoriously
Have won this war of words.
One more thing, before you speak,
Remember my grandfather the Greek.

We Are the Victors I'M Back

I’d like too invite all to be my guest
a dine of mindfulness and rhyme digest
a week of conflict now victory blessed
standing united to silence a pest

Since the last time you heard from me I was banned again
ran my mouth and pen and stand condemned
taking a time out as the site suspended
yet always polite to poets I’ve befriended

In my lifetime of few consistences
a sucker for trouble
not designed for resistance
never stuck in a bubble
don’t run nor crumble
my back’s up I stand tall
I’m one for the rumble
not decided but natural

I’m an alpha with a non fictional reaction
I can’t stray from friction I give it back to ‘em

They flint
I flame
retardants
don’t reign

Even with intense insistence I’m risky
back and forth witty hits get me frisky
I’m Jack Daniels confrontation’s whiskey

and as it ascends force
whistling me wolf
I submit my thoughts
with all above board

but as the war gets me bored
within my core recycled and restored
enemy amo pours out below par
firing missiles I go to far

through lost remorse
this one track horse
gallops the course
with overwhelming force

only to fail care and I fall where I fell before

Standing up squarely
Cus nobody scares me
then punished unfairly
cus I ain’t no fairy

Deemed out of line
as I mouth my mind
blow for blow with swines
or write down rhymes

I’ve got one finger for sign language
knowing 5 fold in flight damage

You’re not the first to run me down
I’m not one to get the boys around
“I know a lot of people” not my threat
get me vexed I come direct

Others rely on their made up crew
not me though mate I come straight for you

One minute you’re coming calling me chump
the next minute running Forest Gump
I’ve never experienced intimidated slumps
the altercation ignition leads me to jump

start the motor ticks, over being a victim
insults thrown deflect don’t sink in
get thrown back with hurt inflicting
stand his ground does Nick Trim

Will call us HMS Victory and him the birds eye on a French deck,
one cannon ball later he’s drenched in a shipwreck

So thanks to the soupers standing with me,
the victory with us not he,
again I say soupers standing with me
are the ones standing victoriously

She's a Precious Jewel

As I think of you and realize that you are very beautiful and precious
to life and now to me. Who shall truly know and understand the Lioness
within this radiant Lamb.

She has given of her gifts and talents in order that others may find
life and its peace of mind. She labors relentlessly and has'nt really
known how much she is appreciated and loved.

Even though there are those whom will never know the great depth of her
beauty, charm, strength, and compassion. What a great trevisty. Never-
theless, she will always find inner strength witin my being to enable her
to press on and be all that God has intended her to be.

However, if at different intervals in our life if we have not known great pain,
then how would we ever be those gracious attributes which enable others
to continue the difficulties of life's journey. I believe that there are times
when we must suffer heart-ache in order that others may know how to emerge
from them victoriously. We die daily in order that we live vibrantly. Its
what helps shape our character. That's why we allow the Lion and Lioness to
reveal its self in our time for strenth, courage, and tenacity. Once thoses
jungle experience has cease. Then shall we show forth our Beautiful Lamb
nature. That's why she's a precious Jewel to me.

Attention Deficit Disorder

A rock for you, mountain for me
Why am I defeated so easily

I put on my pants one leg at a time
That's where there lives an invisible line

Marking the difference between you and I
Explaining my crawl as you fly high

Looking down from your castle
You view me a hassle

I try and try
Excuses run dry

My race is over before it begins
Victoriously, you meet me at the end

Still pep in your step, energy to spare
A turtle minus a shell, I feel so bare

If only I could slow my train of thought
Perhaps I could achieve the life I've sought

But my wheels keep on turning
Wasted energy, I'm burning

Thinking and thinking
Steadily sinking

I start feeling better when I take a pill
Mind thinking clearer, but thinking still

When will I upgrade from thought to action
The cause comes easy, but where's the reaction

Bounteous ideas floating around
The problem, I find, is pinning one down

My mind can chisel the perfect creation
Birthed and deceased in my imagination

A woman with a brain, packed full of intellect
Mouse hovering the button, can't click select

Day in and day out
Goals die and new ones sprout

Nothing is better to excite
Than a new vision when it ignites

But then I notice how my life is compacted
And easily I become too distracted

I try solving the fraction in my mind
Soon realizing, I'm out of time

Another fresh start, I didn't see finish
Perhaps over night, I will replenish

I've realized the truth and admit how it stung
A gritty feel and bitter taste tattooed on my tongue

I'm merely a hamster, the world my wheel
Making no way, but running still

Premium Member Christmas

As snows gently coat the land
Breezes softly brush it into peaks.
Candles glitter and flutter in windows
Deep shadows flicker in their light.
Enchanting dazzling gems sparkling
Frosty branches dress the clearing
Garnishing the white landscape
Hark! hear the sleigh bells tinkering
It's Santa delivering the presents
Jolly Ho-Ho's ring out as he passes
Kicking the reindeer speed onwards
Leaving a sparkling trail behind them
Maples trees majestically line the path
Nightingale's sweet tones ring out
Over the snowy valley echoing
Partridges plump and fat basting
Quail are turning on the spit
Roast potatoes crisp and golden brown
Simmering vegetables steaming
Toasted marshmallows all gooey
Utterly delicious as they melt on tongue
Victoriously the bells peel out
With great Joy announcing the birth
Xylophones cheerfully join in
Yearning hearts beating in tandem
Zeal fully they meet and mingle

Can a man – all alone - foist a god upon his fellows
Even if it’s only himself
And they his subjects

G.. is Akbar!

Does the muezzin from the minaret of Qoutoub-Minar

whose newly-ordered cosmos

Akbar is ___!

Who would parse and complete or conclude the syllogism

For « One » who dared abolish the jiziyah

Note: Jalal ud-Din Muhammad Akbar (1542-1605), the third Mughal Emperor, edicted that muezzins should herald the rising of the sun by the call: Allah-u-Akbar!
The « jiziyah » , a word of Arabic origin, meaning a tax levied on non-Muslims who wished to conserve their own property, and imposed by the Moghul sovereigns – on and off - in India, was abolished by Akbar in his seventh year of accession to the throne.
