"User name" and "password"
That's all you need to know.
Type them in , press "enter"
Then you’re fine to go.

Sounds quite simple really,
Till your memory starts to wane,
You trawl the deepest caverns
Of your tired and aging brain.

You thump the keyboard harder
As your temper starts to fray,
And curse the screen before you
With its "road block" in the way.

No pet, place or loved one’s name
Will give you access rights,
When you cannot remember
Those all important bytes.

Defeated, crazed you finally press
 "Forgot your password?" key
But can't answer all the questions
To get you through security

To release your rescue e-mail
From this digital dictator,
Requires you reacquaint yourself
With your "administrator" ?

So how do you escape
From this technical morasse?
Caught with no ropes or crampons
In this digital crevasse ?

Well this is my solution
When you face the software snub,
Pull out the plug, put on your coat
And "log off" down the Pub !

User Mentality

Gimme, gimme, gimme
Take, take, take
But when it's time to give,
"I don't have it. Not today"

The only giving I know
Is when others give to me
Forget other people
It's all about my needs

If you have what I want
I'll do what I can
Just to allure you,
Then trap you like quick sand

I lie and I lie,
I cheat and I cheat
Whatever it takes
I have no integrity

My craft is manipulation
My heart is a black hole
The only thing I care about
Is the image I uphold

I pretend to be nice
And I appear to be sweet
But that's just an act
I'm corrupted with greed

I'm warped in evil
Spoiled to the core
It's never enough
I always want more

I'm the center of the universe
Everything revolves around me
I'm the most important thing
To ever live and breathe

I'm the sun and the moon,
The stars and the sky
When it comes to personality,
I'm Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Why am I like this?
Don't ask me
I guess God made me selfish
With a user mentality

No User Serviceable Parts

I am not a robot
I am not made of steel
I’ve a mind I’ve a brain
I can think, I can feel
Through my frame courses blood
Deep inside beats a heart
I am not a robot
Don’t tear me apart
You could never repair
The parts that get broken
You haven’t the tools
And words softly spoken
May lead you to think
That your game has been won
I am not a robot. The damage is done

Mac User Or Pc

9/8/16

Are you a Mac user or PC?

Do you prefer Justin's or Reese's?

A few times, I saw the movie "E.T."
And I once slept in a teepee

Shouldn't be sleazy
Or greedy

Got to get after it daily, weekly
Monthly and yearly, routinely

You can wish for a lamborghini
But you got to work smart and hard for it, instead of hoping to find a genie

I wore a lot of hoodies and beanies
And scaled many hills and mountains freely

Didn't always eat my wheaties
Just some smoke, alcohol and food that was greasy

Naively
Spent most of the cheese I made rather briefly

Realize, you can't expect any freebie
Or it all to be easy
That's just foolish, whether or not you ever believe me

Don't make an fool of yourself and assume
Anything underneath the sun and moon
That just may lead to your own doom

One day I'm going to visit Fiji
With my lady wearing a pink bikini
As we kick back with our own martinis

Could go on about drinks and food, like kiwis
Sweet Tea
And fettucine
Alfredo with roasted zucchini

But I'd rather spare you that completley

The Dark Side of July: Portrait of a Narcissist

When you left, you left me a shambles.
Up was down and down was up.
You were so matter-of-fact.
“I’ve found someone,” you said.
After eating a meal I had prepared
And paid for.

While I languished in hospital
You were seeing her.
What did you tell her?
That we were over?
Not entirely true.

So she pursued you
And you made it so easy.
I was old news
While she was fresh supply.

You didn’t even try
To resist her charms.
No, you moved straight into her arms,
Put me on the shelf.
As always, it was all about yourself.

I won’t wait for this to fade.
Not now, not ever.
You think you’ve got it made.
But you're really not that clever.

Well, buddy, keep on living a lie
‘Cause it’s the dark side of July.

Ever hear of Karma?

Facebook User

I thought we made a promise to each-other when we made it official.
My idea of a real relationship was completely off.
I assumed that you would always be faithful.
Neither one of us seemed to be happy.
I just thought that the kids would keep us together.
One day, things were going to get better.

You gave up before that day could come.
I didn't even know who you were.
You didn't even take the chance to get to know me.
I felt entitled as a man.
You felt entitled as a woman.
I thought I was worth more to you.

You told me that I didn't get it.
You were right, but you never explained to me what it was.
You knew I was willing to compromise.
You never even loved me.
You played me.

I thought we were friends.

You hate me now.
You've always hated me.

I de-activated my Facebook account one year before you bailed.
It didn't take long after for you to change your relationship status.
I found out that you were seeking attention through social media.

You lost touch with reality.
All of your lies became real to you.

The people you lied to, only added more believability of yourself.
I am just an inanimate object to you.
My well being isn’t a concern at all.

You found out I had a new girlfriend.
You sent me a picture of your breasts.

I was so excited.
I still loved you.
I broke her heart.

Then you told me you weren't ready and that you were just jealous.
This happened twice now.
It's sad but true.

I know now that you will never love me.
I asked you for the truth.

You refuse to give it to me.

It was worse than I could have ever imagined; your lies...; the cheating.
There is only one way I will ever forgive you
Now.
I'm not holding my breath any longer.

You blocked me on Facebook.
What is it with you and your connection with this Facebook?
To me, you will forever be a...

Premium Member The Lonesome Life of a Cell Phone User

two cell phones ran into each other on some street
friends I think world has changed though
and stood side by side known yet unknown
an awkward greeting then sliding into silence
like an old western gunfight suddenly
a duet of ring tones that has taken music hostage
they reached for their souls lost in a maze
to see who had the quickest draw
and to their relief a touching moment
quickly typing with insane joy
their thoughts playing the keys like a piano
in the end they acknowledged each other with a nod
with a good-bye slipped it back into their holsters
patting it like a baby's bottom waiting for the burp
they walked for a moment but like a pack of cigarettes
they reached for their cell phones lighting and inhaling
staring at the screen to see if their popularity was still intact
as they were staring downwards the cell phone they were tweeting
walked by without a peep just a nod

User Response Poem: 51st Street

Someone saw me digging through the trash this morning
And gave me five bucks
The embarrassed gin-mace of the nursing home volunteer
Plastered to his face
For the three seconds I could see it
Before he looked away

Everyone is more human than you'd imagine in these streets

So I bought two Blacks and a Hershey's Milk Chocolate bar
And I watched the candy wrapper blow into the drainage ditch
And I picked up a lighter someone had dropped on the ground
One those cheap, translucent ones that will melt
If you keep the flame burning too long
And I made my way back to the place where I sleep

Everyone is more human than you'd imagine in these streets

At the intersection, I run into Mike
Flying the, "Hungry" sign that I'd watched him make
With some recycled cardboard and a jumbo Sharpie
On the floor of my abandoned-building living room
Because he was hungry
And KFC hadn't thrown away anything edible in days

Everyone is more human than you'd imagine in these streets

Wiping my fingers of my snack's melted remains onto the cutoff denim
That I've been wearing for six days
I round the corner and see J trying to shake off the cops
That have him pinned against the security fence around our camp
Ryan tells me he has a warrant and an eight-ball of speed in his pocket
Sucks, he was supposed to see his daughters tomorrow

Everyone is more human than you'd imagine in these streets

When it's safe, I slip into my sparsely insulated corner of a Texas July
Sweating from the core-heat I've trapped against a discarded mattress
And remembering that I used to look at us
The way Five-Dollar-Dude looked at me this morning
Before I learned the hard way that we're just seeking some of the comfort
Enjoyed by the very condo-dwellers who frustrate our ability to obtain it

Everyone is more human than you'd imagine in these streets

And I'm not saying everyone out here is a saint
But I am saying if you need a dollar or a cigarette
You've got better odds asking someone camping under the overpass
Than someone with one hand on the door of their Lexus
And the other one smoking a Marlboro Red
And I think when you don't have anything, that Marlboro can tell you a lot

U - User

Unveil the unpleasant
The ultimate urge, an ulcer in today's urban undertaking
Unavoidable but still unmasked, underlining an unrealistic utopia for the unhappy
The unappreciated upgrade
Utilizing uppers to untangle from their upsets while the unpopular upload to upscale and unite
The ugliest kind of uplifting in our upbringing
Unconscious upstairs or just unaware
An ultimatum uttered upon the undermined for a brief untrustworthy unification of self
Unable to uproot from the unlimited upas-like upheavals used and yet undiscovered
It is urgent we unearth this unhallowed use of unfamiliar utensils
Undo the unruly sense of uselessness and uphold ourselves from this unrelenting universe
Utmost ungratefulness and unconscientious uproars underfoot could lead to an unfortunate union with your urn

Instagram User

look at my photos, look at my photos, do you like what you see?

i’ve spent hours posing and editing, just to get the perfect shot for instagram, can’t you see?

listen to my stories, listen to my stories, do you hear my voice?

i’m sharing all the highlights of my life, but i’m only sharing the good,

not the problems or the noise.

notice my followers, notice my followers, do you see how many i have?

i’m constantly checking and refreshing, desperate for validation and to be seen as mad.

validate my likes, validate my likes, can you see my popularity?

i’m constantly seeking validation, from strangers and friends, my anxiety.

appreciate my content, appreciate my content, do you understand my value?

i’m constantly creating and posting, desperate for attention, it’s my only goal, can’t you see?

Abuser User

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
So why do so many people abuse it?
A good soul doesn't mind helping your needs. Giving up what they have so you can be happy.
Freely volunteering, though they don't have too. But you see it as a way to get over.
To use and take advantage, "they're too quiet, too naive" but everyone has a limit you will see. Once that line is crossed and the good soul you've offended. Anything you "need" has ended.
No it won't go down quietly, someones gonna get hurt.
And its gonna be you who gets thrown in the dirt.
Let this be a lesson, before you betray. Be honest, faithful, and everything will be okay.
Just because you can get over doesn't mean you should.

User Beware

User Beware

Words flow through the pen to the paper, like water raging down a river to the sea.
Thoughts in my head aching, like a caged animal, yearning to be free.
Sentences become verses, bringing it all to life.
Sugarcoating sweetness in a heart, or piercing like a knife.

The slash of a pen can dishonor a name.
Can build someone up, or put them to shame.
So powerful, it can incite madness with a few swift strokes on a line.
It can melt or break a heart, whether it be yours or mine.

The pen in the wrong hands can maim like a gun.
Can set emotions on ice, or make them hotter than sun.
The pen can put people in love, or make two countries hate.
Can bring riches beyond dreams, or decide your fate.

User beware, the pen can be a weapon so strong.
Can start wars in far places, or tame the heart with a song.
It's the thoughts in my head that form words made from ink.
The pen is the tool that hears what I think.
