Best Unguarded Poems
Photographs freezes in time
Breaks in reality
Thoughts of memories long ago
Still frames of goals set for yourself
People to look up to
Remember so eloquently
Fragments of a time before
I wonder to myself
Are these pictures true identities
Or fake smiles impersonating who they really want to be
Or let you see
We have the ability to crop, to dull , to enlighten.
Our photographs in time
But for me I rather be
Unedited, unchanged
Cropped into the lives I love forever
Unmasked and Unguarded.
Like a predator
He’ll watch you
Hoping
Waiting
Knowing
Knowing you’ll give in
And then he’ll feed
He’ll feed off your emotions
Your thoughts
Your rage
Your hostile opinions
He can predict your response
Years of watching you
Your fragile heart unaware
There is no fence around your heart, darling!
Anything goes in
Anything grows in your garden
Your heart is like a prostitute
Anything goes!
Anything…no filter
Your heart is loose!
You listen to their gossip
Their filthy lies
You listen…
And like a sponge
Your heart soaks up the lies…
Soaked in filth and lies
You absorb it and it poisons you
The poison sips in
Poisoning your thoughts
Your reasoning
Your decisions
Your perspective
Your heart darkens
Your heart hardens
You left your heart unguarded!
Now, he has access!
Like a predator
He is watching
Waiting
Knowing
Silently watching
Unguarded heart
The thief waits…

So you’ve been discarded
Like the trash you thought you were
And all the fears you can’t defer
Steal the heart you left unguarded
You feared she didn’t feel the same
She new her mind changed about you, though
She never cared enough to let you know
You’re left with nothing but your shame
But boy, didn’t you have fun?
You both had a good run
But now you're just down to one
And It’s all coming undone
If you keep wishing for death
You may just live to regret it
Fossilize in your tar pit
Feel your lungs running out of breath
But boy, didn’t you have fun?
You both had a good run
Now you're just down to one
And It’s all coming undone
My friend, you’ve been discarded
Like the trash you thought you were
And all those fears you'll never defer
Steal the heart you left unguarded
I drowned in
That unguarded look
The one that showed
That your eyes adored
What you saw in me
I revived in
That unguarded word
The one that showed
Your heart could voice
In softer tones
What my soul
longed to hear
I melted in
That unguarded touch
The one that burned
And seared my flesh
With the passion
That had escaped
from the prison
Where you kept it
locked under bolt and key.
I loved in
That unguarded moment
The moment when
You made time stand still
For I’d gained entry
Into your soul
And I saw treasures
Hidden there
That you jealously guarded
Afraid that I might steal
And leave you empty!
My love, let your guard down
I come in peace
I come to caress
I come to heal
I come to love
I come to celebrate
I come to conquer
And to break your prison
So that you
Will always be
Unguarded!
my loves on the ground
drowning in the rain
freezing in the snow
blown around in the wind
stepped on by life
I saw them out the corner of my eye
When their eyes met as she walked by
What did it mean this unguarded moment
When their secret between them was sent
Was I the only one who shared their secret
If they knew about me would they regret
Their eyes meeting as they did silently
A lovers tryst that for a moment was set free.

An open heart, unguarded and true,
spills light like dawn across the dew.
Its glow, a quiet, golden flame,
draws souls who never knew its name.
It listens more than it speaks aloud,
a gentle force beneath the crowd.
Moments bloom where it has been.
Soft echoes of what might have been.
No need for grandeur, pride, or show,
Its essence whispers, calm and slow.
And those who cross its humble path.
Feel peace that lingers long after its glow.
