The Mysterious Women's Restroom
I accidentally stepped into the women's restroom
Turned around to quickly leave
Noticed there was no one there
Then turned back around for a manly peak

What the ladies do in here
Has always been a mystery
So I lurked about and scouted out
To let all the other men know...

Sugar And Salt
Sugar of life you are
Sweet and dainty in jar

Over and under the counter
You are a wonder in winter

Sturdy grains of Summer breeze
Granules of sweetness, not freeze

White, not green like the apple peels
Sweet and brittle in my heart reels

Salt of the lake
I grow strong and rake

Salty...

Gun Shy

You don’t have to say
one spherical metallic word
I know with GSW empathy credulity
just how you feel ... I bequeath kindred sympathy
Taking one lead body blow
for the I homeboy visiting team,
was enough mental pain timeout for me
And the physical hurt toll it put on my...

IF YOU PULL A LONG FACE : Part XXIV

IF you pull that long martyred face
While brake-disks hiss howl metal-doors click-clutch-cluck on railway
No Tokyo masks nor hand darts to protect the homefront populace
Breeding grounds Underground cooking love-cold soup bacteriae

If you pull that damnit I've-caught-it again...

Premium Member Bert's Country Store
A long-standing landmark that I often visited as a tyke,
Was Bert's Country Store just a ways up Dalton Pike.
Dalton could be missed if your eyes you'd briefly close.
The population at that crossroads "town" was thirty or so, I suppose.

The inviting porch had some benches where...

Conundrum
Ahhhh...they make me so mad:
A fool, a buffoon, an unruly lad,
A prankster, a trickster, a tattler,
A gigolo, a lounger and an idler;

An impostor, a pretender and a loafer,
A party crasher, a tailgater and a golfer,
A boondoggle or a task of a tall order,
And the deals...

Cookie Monster
the cookie monster gets her strength
from the plate by your bed.
Sucking down crumbs, growing at every bite,
knowing she shouldn't be fed.
Christmas eve is her favorite day,
when the goods are brought about.
After bed time, she downs the whole plate
so when Santa comes, they're all out.
She hibernates...

ONE SHOULD NOT MAKE PLANS FOR TOMORROW, LIFE IS UNPREDICTABLE, THE UNEXPECTED CAN HAPPEN IN A SPLIT SECOND. “QUOTE BY POET”

I woke up to a brilliant sunny spring day,
The flowers blooming, the birds were...

Pumpkins!
They are sitting at the counter
In one of those all-night diners
See them through the large front window
Eating donuts sipping cider

A fine young fox is waiting table
Wondering how the pumpkins are able?

Without the street is...

A Problem With Rudy
Rudy in his wheelchair gets around pretty good. He has a good job and transportation via a special van. He shops at local stores and everyone is nice except at the drug store where the clerk seems to have a problem with Rudy.

Rudy has noticed...

A Cup of My Own
I handed over my reading log to the librarian. Then
she reached into a cardboard box under the counter
and pulled out the coffee cup
and in that moment
I knew it was my own.

The cup was heavy as a melon in my hands, peach-colored
and shaped like an apple.
I...

Premium Member Good News
With so much bad news all around us..in our country…in our neighborhood…
We sometimes have a tendency to overlook the good.

Yesterday a woman came into the store and bought two books…
There was a gleam in her eyes when she told me one book was for her
the...

Premium Member Set Me On High
Put me on the cold, hard flat stove top
Fill me with water, and turn the boil button on
Throw in potatoes, carrots, or eggs.
Set the timer to low.
Turn my handle inside, so children are safe.
My bottom will get warm.
I might even glow.
If you have no potatoes,...
