More Than Just a Face Behind the Counter
we're more than just a face behind the counter who says "can i help you please?"
and our vocabulary is not just limited to "do you want fries or extra cheese?"
we're mothers, fathers, daughters and sons
and we deserve just as much respect as anyone
we stand on our feet all day and many times all night
yet the low pay and lack of benefits we receive just does not seem right
we have bills too, we go to school and we take care of our families
yet many people think we're just unambitious and lack creativity
we're not asking for a lot we just want some benefits and a living wage
but it's disheartening that people can't seem to comprehend why we are outraged
so today we stand united, organized and ready to fight
for healthcare, benefits, a sustainable wage and basic workers rights
for we are more than just a face behind the counter
we're the fast food workers with a mission this day
standing strong, going long in solidarity
under the union banner of 32BJ
