     "12 Days of Christmas Craves"

On the twelfth day of Christmas
My true love sent to me
12 twinkling tiaras

Eleven emerald elephants

Ten Tiffany trinkets

Nine naughty negligees

Eight echoing elves

Seven sequined stars

Six sexy singers

Five fake fingernails s s s

Four furry foxes

Three tingling tamborines

Two turtledoves

And peach tree in pail via e-mails s s s.

Premium Member Remember the Alamo

What Col. William Barrett Travis might have said to the defenders
of the Alamo on March 5, 1836, the twelfth day of the siege.

                      Remember the Alamo

My fellow Texians hear what I say
                      your courage inspires and leaves me in awe;
as I humbly stand before you today
your gallantry from which my strength I draw.

Sant’ Anna’s troops surround this mission’s walls,
                      and from this bout we face, there’s no escape;
we’ll fight to death until the last man falls,
and with the blood we shed, the fates we’ll shape.

For friends and fam’lies our lives will avow
the future hopes and freedoms they’ll attain,
and when the final man has made his bow,
please know that we will not have died in vain.

Our deeds here will forever write their scripts
when “Remember the Alamo” leaves their lips.

Premium Member Refreshing Spring Showers

After a soft spring shower last night, the air was washed clean
And saturated mother earth brings to life nature's bounty
Wisteria, Jasmine, and Azeala's scent wafts perfuming the cleansed air

Last night's accompanying thunder and lightning
Brought nitrogen that restores green to grass, plants, and trees
Now renewed shades of green dot the rolling hills, dashes of soft color those spring greens

A gentle zephyr stirs the leaves refreshed from the moisture and rich nitrogen air
Now hidden within the once barren limbs a tiny bird's nest nestled with care
Soon baby birds will emerge to feast on seeds nourished from this spring shower

A gentle spring shower is a blessing for man, earth and beast
Refreshing, restoring, and nourishing so all will be able to eat
Spring showers put in store water to carry the earth through summer's heat

Out on the porch to enjoy air washed of pollen, cleansed, and refreshed
And hear the birds sing at their very best
Last night's soft spring shower assures their life will be blessed__

Premium Member Death's Claim

In the middle of the night, you came, oh, death,
Wishing my soul to harvest
Vehemently, I refused to surrender it to you
Fact, that made you so angry.

You said your divine right was to claim it
But still, your request I turned down
It was then that you thought it reasonable to incapacitate me
For your mission sooner to carry out.

The first step you took was my voice to silence
The second was my legs to immobilize
Thus mute and paralyzed, you fancied, I couldn't resist
So your prize would quickly be obtained.

For five days, in total muteness and bedridden, I remained
Yet, a gallant fight I put up to escape your embrace
But all my efforts in vain appeared to be
As the gates of eternity, I could gaze.

Late on the fifth day, a doctor of great character and skill,
He decided to empty the Hematoma formed next to my brain
Thus, a foot-long Craniotomy performed with great care
Hoping you, oh, death, to chase away.

Although now, slowly, I am recovering
Anticipating a few more years of life to enjoy,
I know very well in my heart, oh death,
That we together would be one blessed day!

* This is a biographical poem that narrates the events that took
place between the twelfth day of October and the first day of
November in the hospital!

September, Please Don'T Come

September, I‘m asking you, “please don’t come.”
I can’t take the heartbreak every year.
I need something to make me numb.
Let me see if I can make this more clear.

>>>>>>>

This is the month that he and I wed.
The twelfth day was one of the best.
It was so much fun, looking ahead.
I felt we were wonderfully blessed.

It’s also the month, that he was created.
On day number thirteen.
From the first of the month he anxiously awaited
his birthday cake and ice cream.

Two thousand and one was a horrible year.
Of coarse, in that month we got the news.
We found out from the doctor our greatest fear.
His life, he was going to lose.

The cancer was growing deep down inside.
Nine months of treatment he took.
When he lost his hair, I remember he cried.
In the mirror, he didn’t want to look.

But I still thought, he was so handsome.
Hair just didn’t matter to me.
The hardest part was watching him succumb
to cancer, the deadliest disease.

Two thousand and three was the worst year of all.
Five days short of his fiftieth birthday,
On the eighth of the month the Lord came to call
and took my sweet husband away.

>>>>>>>

So now maybe you can understand.
Maybe it doesn’t seem so dumb,
when I take you by the hand and ask you,
“September, please don’t come.”

Premium Member Twelve Days of Christmas

His young bride took the Twelve Days of Christmas to extremes it seems!
His true love kept piling on strange things well beyond his fairest dreams!
On the First Day of Christmas she gave him a shovel for shoveling snow.
On the Second Day of Christmas she gave him a fifty-cent jug of Red Bordeaux.
On the Third Day of Christmas he was presented with a scruffy mutt.
On the Fourth Day of Christmas he received a one-way ticket to Terre-Haute.
On the Fifth Day of Christmas she graced his skull with a silly beanie cap.
On the Sixth Day of Christmas she handed him an African contour map.
On the Seventh Day of Christmas he received a used Michelin radial tire.
On the Eighth Day of Christmas he was stunned to get a strand of barbed wire.
On the Ninth Day of Christmas he got a life-membership in the Red Hat Society.
On the Tenth Day of Christmas a collection of horseshoes, a most bizarre variety.
On the Eleventh Day of Christmas a parrot that spoke naughty words so gross.
On the Twelfth Day of Christmas he got the Visa Card bill leaving him morose.
He was underwhelmed by all this useless stuff and thought it mighty *****.
He was under the impression that Christmas came but once a year!

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
A puppy that wouldn’t stop peeing on my tree.
On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Two Turtle Doves who dropped a load, as I looked up in the tree.
On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Three little kittens that my puppy, chased up daily into the tree.
On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Four sets of ornaments to replace, those destroyed by kittens in the tree.
On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Five different promises that he would again, put up, The Silly Tree.
On the sixth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Six strands of lights to replace those chewed on, by my little puppy.
On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Seven hugs and kisses, so I’d PLEASE forget, about the Blooming Tree.
On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Eight Trolls a milking, chasing cows thru all my hedgerow shrubbery.
On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Nine Trolls a dancing, that all fell on, my once beautiful garden fencing.
On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Ten Trolls a leaping, as Caroling candles, burned down into their hands.
On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Eleven Trolls a smiling and ready to rebuild my burned down front porch.
On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me…
Twelve Trolls a hammering and a nice big bottle of Tylenol… just for me…
Plus the happy thought, I’d survived a Christmas gift, planned with love… just for me.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and best wishes for twelve days of Christmas joy.

Premium Member I Love You-Joe

As men, sometimes it's hard to spit out the L word. Of course it's not so hard to do when you are conveying it to your love, father, or friend. But when it comes to siblings, sometimes it's not said as often as it should be. Every time I speak with my two sisters the conversation always ends in "I love you, sis." But for some odd reason when I am speaking to my brothers the conversation ends something like " Okay, I'll see you tomorrow" or " Okay, talk to you soon." Nine years ago my siblings and I had lost our eldest brother tragically in a motor-cycle accident. Thinking back, I really can't recall actually ever telling him outright that I loved him. If only I knew then, before his death, that that would be the last time I saw him, for sure that L word would have been heard in his ears from my lips. So today, on this twelfth day of November, on his birth date, I feel compelled, as a man, to say what I should have said to him many times. And that is- "I LOVE YOU, JOE"

Happy Heavenly Birthday, Brother!!!

let your siblings know
tell them how much you love them
before it's too late
