Best Trifle Poems
Pretty crystal dish that holds
A rainbow delight
Layers of coloured custard
Jam spread sliced sponge cakes
Sprinkled with sherry
Meringue topped
Dream!

TRIFLE WITH ME
O trifle with me zephyr wind —
too kind for my mood.
Your flirtatious regale
smoothly entices my smile —
stop that
A halo over my head,
the grandiloquence of the moon —
like the zenith of Everest,
a cordial candlelight
pulls at the corner of my lips.
The starlight spreads
like a quilt tossed into the air
over a child’s bed.
The night like velvet sings
celestial songs — nothing’s wrong.

I ask this of you
Never to trifle with my affections
My precious little heart can't hold it
For a caprice it's not built
It's banks are full to the brim
and the walls are but weak
Please do not break my little heart
There's not even one unscrupulous bone in me
If you do not fancy me, let me be gone

Sitting in a food court, watching the people
Interact with each other, they follow like sheeple
If someone says jump
They interrupt their lunch
And oblige which is certainly a trifle bit creeple

On early morn
children were playing
at the river’s shore
close to the noon
soldiers came
out of the blue
by the dim
river red
played theirs sins

IS THAT A TRIVIAL TRIFLE OR A RIFLE?
Weightless
Weightless while watching ripples row their way across a wading pool
A pool that portended peace
A peaceful pool in the coolness of a kiss in springtime
A scene of serenity
Weightless
Thinking
Unblinking
Sinking into a pool of my own
A pool of thought
Caught somewhere between actuality and a playground in Poughkeepsie
And the thought occurs to me
No longer a blur to me
But crystal clear
As I consider the word “trivia” as in those trivia games people play
One might choose to say that I have a dispute with “Trivial Pursuit”
Well for just a moment or two let’s examine, explore, expose and exhume if you will
The meaning of the word “trivia”
Now I don’t own a dictionary, nor does anyone nearby
But as far as I can tell
The root word of “trivia” is trivial
As in unimportant, inconsequential, insignificant, and most notably
Trifling
And so I’m rifling through the attics and dungeons of my medulla oblongata
And I gotta say, in reference to these trivial games
No matter how convivial the participants are
I’m not spending hours being asked frivolous questions
And hearing petty answers
Answers that may be wrong or right
And thus to be edified and educated by the inconsequential
Meaning, in essence, of no consequence to anyone
At anytime
In any place
But that’s just my opinion
Coming from someone who comes dangerously close to being labeled a fool
Weightless
Weightless while watching water in a wading pool
Floating
And noting the trivial and trifling

An ambitious luscious wedding cake
To share with friends and family dear
I shall happily endeavor today to bake
With the purest ingredients, nothing fake
Only the best I vow to make
It will absolutely smell devine
A taste so precariously sublime
Made with beans of purest cocoa
A heavenly scent to drive guests Loco
One side for the stunning bride
Will have roses crafted with pride
The chiseled chin groom an iron horse
With a silver cross , of course
Layers and layers filled with English trifle
Vanilla pudding intercepting lady fingers
hints of brandy, not so strong to stifle
Pure whipped cream laced through this dream
Topped with shaved chocolate ringers
Red raspberries and lush blueberry
Reminiscent of fornicating an imagined cherry
Placed in proper spaces to gently rest
All the invited, super hyper excited guests
Will certainly be impressed, practically obsessed
After they harmoniously relished the taste and scent
Of the most gloriously embellished wedding cake

It falls...
With grace above pearl clouds
Afore it screams once more
It will scream one thousand
Before you lose your breath
High above reproach
It makes the speeds it sounds
Unheard tears cry symphonic
But, all I hear is death
Play the notes which hold
Cutting circumstance upon the air
Like silent wings from heaven
They spread...
Beating, down and down
Blowning kisses to the soldiers
Ending up on killing ground
Shadows on buildings is all that's left
And somewhere else I'm sure regret

MERRY CHRISTMAS
It’s that Christmas time of year
Everybody is of good cheer
The Christmas trees are covered with lots of tinsel and lights
There are beautiful sights everywhere at night
Santa Claus is on his way
With Rudolph out the front, leading his sleigh
It doesn’t matter where you live, whether near or far
Santa Claus will find you wherever you are
I love spending Christmas with family and friends
We wish the day would never end
Christmas Crackers will be cracked and torn
And the paper hats found inside shall be worn
There will be turkey and ham and trifle to eat
And all sorts of other yummy treats
Some people like eggnog to drink
But that is not for me I think
A shandy is the perfect drink for me
Drinking it whilst chatting with loved ones sitting under a shady tree
Have a very Merry Christmas and whatever you do, have a fun time
Now that’s the end of my Christmas rhyme.

[Just once in a while, I try to write a child friendly
Poem which doesn’t end up as a horrific gore-fest...
This is one such attempt...]

There’s a tiger in my trifle, there’s a seahorse in the queue
Not sure about a café with a coypu in the stew
The polar bear just over there is chasing a gnu
Six penguins just got flattened by a manic kangaroo
The keeper’s got a net, he says I’ll catch the pelican
Can he catch the pelican? No-one knows how well he can
A chimpanzee is wearing clothes and strutting like a man
He’s blowing noisy kisses to the old orang-utan
The seals are in the pond causing lots of fuss and dramas
A strange turn of events because they’re eating the piranhas
The gorilla who would often spend all day eating bananas
Is making Tarzan noises as he tries to ride the llamas
The rhino’s gone out through the gate, he just got on a bus
He couldn’t pay the fare... the driver didn’t make a fuss
Police are running here and there, they don't know what to do
That's what happens when they have an earthquake at the zoo

My crystal ball is telling
predictions of other types,
though trifle to you all,but
important to me.
what a good news for my son!
Our lost kitten will be back,
the red robin will build nest
again in garden.
the rose plant which you gave me
will be in full bloom this year,
for the first time you will write
a poem just for me!

There once was a shutterbug named Louie
Whose dry humor was a trifle screwy.
To a saguaro he said
Hands up lest I shoot you dead.
A shot; a flash; kablooey went Louie.

‘Twas the night before Christmas
When I started the chore
Of making the trifle
As I’d done before
I’d boiled the kettle
when I realised
I’d forgotten the jelly
what a surprise
So I jumped on my scooter
I took off at speed.
Trying to remember
how much I would need
The shops were so busy,
no room to move.
But I fought my way forward
with a push and a shove
Grabbing the jellies
I flew up the aisle.
The girl on the checkout
Even managed a smile.
When I got home,
I wanted to scream.
Wouldn’t you know it?
I’d forgotten the cream.

Trifle Un Delightful.
If life is a Trifle
Un delightful
As it seems nothing goes to plan
Your left in a spin
But you try the best you can
If your that kind of woman
I’m your man
If you want plenty of cheer
After a few beers
And someone to dry your tears
I’ll do the best I can
If your that kind of woman
I'm your man
If your day has gone down the plug hole
You need a hug and a moan
To someone who understands
You can cry on my shoulder
If your that kind of woman
I’m your man
If you climb into bed
And I get the urge
To show you I’m a man
And you say ‘’I have a headache’’
And your that kind of woman
I’m a man
With a problem in my hand.
