Best Stripe Poems
focused eyes meet like a deep ancient cave
where the stripes almost touch on a forward drive
repelling each other like a power surge at the shoulder
notice how his coat shines as he grows bolder
he borrows strength from a fountain of eternal youth
edged on the tips of his white of teeth
a docile feline, not at all a beast of death in the mist
a heart gift-wrapped in stripes in his chest
he preys at the alta of sacrifice and slaughter
a last glance at natural beauty before eternal slumber
designed by the mysterious scramble of the jungle
to forever prowl with an artistic effort the oriental
burning through a path with an invisible flame in slow motion
pouncing with an effortless equation his ferocious devastation
those who fell into an unsuspecting empty well of his hell
roped in on an unending stripe where only tigers dwell
Need I pull
The escape chord?
This flying Scotsman travels too fast
Me thinks
Whilst my dog lays dying
My castle lays crumbling
My heart lays in carnage
No wonder
I sink
Last night I escaped to a world with a girl
Theatrical elegance surrounded her form
As she leant forward
Framed eyes widened (back arched)
And held
One finger
Vertically over silken pursed lips
And quietly hushed me
Ushering
Urging
Me to follow her slip like form
Through to a medly of sumptuous shades of scarlet
Sky
Tall slim conifer style clouds
Of glorious turquoise
Slipped
Slowly
By
As vertically as her finger
She led and beckoned
I followed
Clambering conifer clouds
Reaching candy striped
Tight ropes
As we tip toed above all and I eventually rose my eyes
There were many old young souls
Smiling clambering in silent jubilation
And I forgot
The flying Scot
And all it's pain
As I was a child in a candy store
Thank fully
Momentarily
Once again...
"Stripe"
For no particular reason
The clouds cleared
And the sun shone bright and
the month of old snow
melted enough to reveal half
of the mud beneath.
For no particular reason
a neighborhood cat took a stroll
across the dirty brown ridges of ice on the tree lawns,
across the finally dry street, up the drive.
Without a care in its head.
The Feline lept up onto the just washed car
and bathed on the roof, in the sun,
just to drive the dogs in the house
insane.
For no particular reason
The sparkling clean car stood like a
Palimino in the sun, oozing a
Stripe of muddy paw prints
Centered from bumper to bumper,
Readiness for the next war
Of road salt, and snow and grey traffic
For no particular reason at all.

Blue Stripe was in love with the fortune-telling albino cat.
Today it was raining so hard, he ran out without his hat.
He wanted to make sure she knew he was “all of that.”
Whitey saw him arriving. She said, “that man’s phat!”
They met in the middle; she was holding a scarf so fine.
I wish she liked me, he thought. I would ask her to be mine.
Another kitty out in the rain began to meow and whine.
They ran to help out the baby cat, name B.G. Clementine.
Blue Stripe felt tongue-twisted in front of this beauty.
Whitey figured this out and said, “You are a cutie.”
Blue Stripe almost asked her out but lost his nerve.
“Why don’t we go out sometime?” She asked, throwing him a curve.
there once was a skunk named Pepé Le Pew
when he came near, well, everyone knew
Penelope, his chérie
to her, he was smelly
odorous advances met pooh pooh!
Here is cross-eyed Eagle Stripe Dog Mongrel
Luckily he cannot see his own donkey like face
consternation galore when he is afoot
nonsensical war paints make other braves snicker
squaws consider him a smoking warm bird roost
ceremonial nightmare when he enters the sweat lodge
no one shames him, for he is son of the chief
a steady excruciating embarrassment to his tribe
laughing stock of reservation until he learns English.
The only Wallawalla who can bring his nation
The steady conniving lies of the paleskins.
He shows them treaty after treaty
But of course the paleskins keep none of them
for there is no honor there.
A peach colored stripe lights up the gray
Ends a beautiful snowy day
A peach colored stripe brightens the sky
Shimmers a path, to find my way
Straight to your heart
Oh, straight to your heart
Like a galaxy away
Many miles apart
A peach colored stripe hovers with angels
Surrounds the mountains to see
A peach colored stripe paints the hour
A peaceful aura to be
Straight to your heart
Oh, straight to your heart
Like a galaxy away
Many miles apart
The horizon is painted for you and me
