Power Over Adversity

“Power over Adversity”
by: Eric L. Boddie

Thank You for the victory that only You could conceive

Thank You for the air You allow each of us to breathe

Thank You for the food that keeps us going strong

Thank You for the Church, the place we all belong

Thank You for the rain that falls from above

Thank You for the struggle, it makes us worthy of Your Love

Thank You for the water, the maintainer of life

Thank You for the woman, only she can be a wife

Thank You for the children, the only form of man which is totally true

Thank You for the devil, only his test can prove our loyalty to You

Thank You for the saints who are not afraid to call upon Your Name

Thank You for the sacrifice given the last time You came

Thank You for Your Word, the greatest power ever

Thank You for Your Guidance through the stormiest weather

Thank You for listening every time I want to talk

Thank You for following me, no matter where I walk

Thank You for Your Mercy, It has been given so many times

Thank You for Your Forgiveness, even for the things which only occur in my mind

Thank You for my soul, the place where the costs of my sins will be paid

Thank You for Job, the greatest example ever made

Thank You for my brothers and sisters, just them, not the things they do

Thank You for my mother, she gave me directions to where I could find You

Thank You, Heavenly Father, because only in You can we place all of our trust

Thank You for Your Holy Son, He cleared a path for us

Warm Fuzzies

Warm fuzzies
and butterflies
Blushing smiles
and starry eyes

Emotional reactions
that may seem overblown
From a fairy tale land far, far away,
far beyond the grasp of those who are fully grown

But for those of us who are compelled
to sigh and swoon
at the sight of two lovers, holding hands
and strolling by the light of the moon
This...is for you

This is for...the romantics
Those who like to take their time
For him, who knows she'll get lost in the rhythm of his heartbeat
And she's assured that for her...there's no mountain he won't climb

These words are meant to remind the lady that
his lips do indeed taste like honey
And the gentleman will recall, that her smile
can make even the stormiest of days, appear sunny

These verses represent..
A picnic for two atop a grassy, secluded hill
feeding each other strawberries until
they both have eaten way past their fill.
An exchange of odes and sonnets written from his and her quill
Even after the last page is shared, candied thoughts linger, still
Thus sparking a poetry slam for two, reciting heart shaped rhymes at will

Some still gleefully agree
that even in the day and age that this is
a luscious... lingering,,, kiss is...
a soft...soothing... bliss is...

Warm fuzzies
and butterflies
Blushing smiles
and starry eyes...

Amber

AMBER

Amber described her.
High yellow like the sun itself
With a inside orange like a
Fresh lit fire.
Eyes so intriguing, heart so fatiguing
From critiquing men,
That weakened her.
Men that weekend her when she deserved
All the days on the calendar.

So beautiful she once was
With a smile that could brighten up
The stormiest day
And a mind which was once used,
Now abused and confused.
Her heart of gold was sold
To the lowest bid, and the old pains is hard to rid.
That cut on her left chest
Is still open after so long, it just wants to heal.
Constant pain that trembles up her spine
From constantly bending over backwards
To satisfy people.
Now that fresh lit fire inside her
Continues burning.
That door that stands inside her heart
Is no longer turning.
Those eyes that was intriguing
Is now reeking of bad vibes,
That smile she once had decided to hide.
She raised her pride, it lowered her cries
Now she only cries inside.
But, that is Amber.
Amber is who I’ve described.

A Saving Grace From

A saving grace from
The stormiest weather
A sun to shine down upon
Drying up my sopping tears
To place them in a basin of
Your love

Two Lovers

A definitive love words cannot define.
Two hearts intertwined, they both beat in time.
We love with a love that is more than just love.
It's a blessing in life and a gift from above.

Your love is the melody that echoes in my heart,
A symphony that plays, it will never pull us apart.
You, my love, are my anchor in life's stormiest seas.
You show me love in a way that brings me down to my knees.

Life with you it is tranquil, yet full of surprise.
To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides.
For together, we'll journey through whatever may come.
Our souls are like magnets, drawn together as one.

Your love is my compass, destination unknown.
On a journey together, with your heart as my own.
With you by my side, come whatever may bring,
I cherish this bond. Our hearts forever will sing.

Our hearts sing a song, only that we can hear.
Forever grateful for the joy you've bought to my life, my dear.
My heart found its home, with you by my side.
Two lovers, as one, true love, can't be denied.

Premium Member Tell Me Please

How does one capture a female heart?
When all her male suitors
Are all over her like stink on an ape?

How do I profess such undying love?
That nothing would stop my romantic advances
Other than the gun she has aimed at my heart

From under her window sill
So I have stated, so I have sung
I would climb the highest mountains
I would cross the stormiest of seas
I would trek across the most arid of deserts
I would forage through the densest of rainforests

Sadly dear I can not come over tonight
As it’s raining out
But my heart still cries out for you, you see
Justin Beiber loves songs echo in my ears
As I long for you tonight

My phone rings and brings me back to reality
It’s your best friend Jenny calling me
I am so sorry
We have to break up
Jenny just kissed me over the phone
She’s awesome

Premium Member Ode to the Selfless Woman

Alluring kindness in a gentle, caring gaze,
Altruistic spirit, a beacon in a maze.
Anchor in the storm, a whisper, soft and strong,
As she walks among us, righting every wrong.

Anchored by humility, a beacon ever bright,
Brave spirit, championing justice with gentle might.
Considerate whispers mend a heart that's torn and frayed,
Down-to-earth laughter chases shadows, unafraid.
Empathy's embrace, a refuge warm and wide,
Fiercely compassionate, with burdens she confides.
Grounded in reality, dreams take graceful flight,
Humility, a crown she wears, a gentle, guiding light.
Integrity is her compass, on life's untrodden ways,
Joyful spirit, lighting paths through darkest, stormiest days.
Kindred souls she welcomes, with an open, accepting mind,
Lifting spirits with a touch, a solace they can find.
Modest triumphs whisper tales of battles fought and won,
Nurturing the vulnerable, 'til hope's new day has begun.
Open-minded to all voices, a symphony untold,
Passionate for a better world, a story yet unfolds.
Quiet strength, a steady hand, on life's ever-changing ledge,
Realistic dreams ignite a spark, defying every pledge.
Respectful gaze meets every eye, a bridge across the divide,
Selfless acts, a silent song, with love as her guide.
Tenacious spirit, breaking down the walls of fear,
Unassuming confidence, a whisper, loud and clear.
Vulnerable openness, a tapestry so bright,
Wisdom's gentle whispers guide her through the darkest night.
Yearning for a brighter dawn, her passion burns so true,
Zealous for justice, a warrior bathed in gentle dew.

Zealous for a brighter world, a warrior bathed in light,
Zest for life, a beacon burning ever bright.
Zenith of compassion, a heart forever true,
A song unsung, a tribute just for you.

Captain On the Deck

How did I get up here?
My mind is wandering cause mummy had to disappear
Leaving me with her red umbrella with white spots
It reminds me of my favourite lolly-pop

What is this water passing me by?
It seems to be falling from the sky
The drops clattering above my head
As I look through the umbrella they seem to be coloured red

There’s a rainbow over there like the one in my favourite book
The one mummy reads about Captain Hook
I feel like I’m captain of my ship standing on this bench
Fighting the pirates and taking my revenge

The grass is waving like the stormiest sea
With waves crashing into the bench trying to drown me
But they will not win because I am the captain of this ship
My red and white spotted umbrella will be used as my bargaining chip

I can see mummy coming from afar to save me
I can see her beautiful dress being blown carefree
By the howling wind blowing all around
To save me and crew from running aground

Eternity

Let me be your prince charming
At least let me try
Becase baby i love you till the day that i die

I would climb the highest mountain just to see you
Id even swim the stormiest ocean just to be near you
These words i engrave on a tablet of stone
These words will ring true long after im gone

Eternity is forever and a day
Thats how strong my love is you see
can you even hear the words i say

I even have the answers to every question you ask
Im the mystery man of your dreams
The man in the mask

So when everybody has long turned to dust
and the sun no longer falls in the evening at dusk
My love travels the very fabric of space
What im trying to say is you can feel my love no matter the time or place

The Sun Still Shines

I've been hurt more than you know, there is so much I've been through, I've been hit, pushed, shoved and choked until I've turned blue.
My heart's been broke and torn apart it's a miracle it still works, and even though I'm strong and wear a smile, on the inside it really hurts.
I've lost so many loved ones along with a lot of friends, everything for me seems to end before it ever even begins.
No, my life has not been easy, it's had bumps along the way and I'm left broken hearted each and every day.
It's something I should be used to, but it's hard getting used to being in pain, it's hard to get used to feeling empty inside, and it's hard to keep myself from going insaine.
I do my best to hold it together and I try to stay strong, and I manage to say I'm okay when there's more than a little bit wrong.
I know things will get better, I know it just takes some time, and even in the stormiest weather the sun will always shine.

Beautiful Things

I want to believe in beautiful things,
Yet beautiful things left, not so long ago, decades ago,
My heart aches. It aches, hurts on its own.
Am I alone?
Beautiful things, oh; my precious beautiful things, come back, back to me,
Let's be beautiful forever. Watch the vast blue seas, the waves crashing against the rocky shores, laughing through the adversities, cry through the eternity, nothing becomes our something, when we are together,
I no longer feel alone,
 I'm light as a feather,
Felt so beautiful together.
You know? Our love was suppose to be forever.
I miss your weather, oh, how I miss you so,
Even the coldest stormiest nights,
It was hurting the most,
Atleast, we weren't alone,
Beautiful things, oh; my precious dear beautiful things,
You were the only home,
I have ever known.

Premium Member Queen Anne's Revenge

She was a hearty lady
Who sailed the silent seas
Born to drift across the deep
Always alive with sails set to brave
The stormiest waters
The sapphire sprays that wet her sails
And promised to dispel all dread
From Blackbeard’s plans

She was strong and sailed
On waves both tumultuous and rough
Abiding her time in the depths
Of a sea alive with fresh dreams
And feelings of courage and extreme
Anguish felt by the broken seafarers

Blackbeard would take all his trophies
With this beauty named Queen Anne’s Revenge
Giving into the forces of a nature packed
With absolute evil it would seem
In the heart of Blackbeard, there would be
No remorse or regret
Only the assurance that he was
Felonious on the high seas
A wicked villain who only knew
The way of the lawless
A pirate notorious for his ways

Things To Do One Day

Should I find a mental lotion
Or take sail across the motion
Of the broad Atlantic Ocean
That is all that separates my love and I

Then around her land I'd chase her
'Til I'd kiss her and embrace her
If I found the strength to face her
For she's always been the glimmer in my eye

Then I dream we'd stay together
Held by love's almighty tether
Through the stormiest of weather
As she showed me there's no need to sit and cry

I'll now swear this to my lover
By the silver moon above her
That in time I shall discover
How we'll meet and teach each other how to fly
