Best Square Up Poems
Witness the times
In broken glass,
The splintered rhymes:
"This too shall pass."
Too soon the day
Dawns upon daze,
Square up last play:
Calm choice creams craze!
Here by the bay:
Dragon Boat race,
An epic play
To forge last trace.
A change parade
Comes full circle,
A new charade
As fest twinkles.
Each to a spot
To frame and forge,
Each maze allots
A peak and gorge.
Here as we go
As heart attends,
Sync sprint and show
To weave new trends.
Change feels so strange
In vivid poise,
View the new range
In sanguine sight.
See then the truth
Pin shadow waves,
Glimpse timeless proof:
Dare live life brave.
Blessings now lift
The heightened view,
Cheer strings all gifts
In wise preview.

So I wrote this rhyme just for me,
to ignite self belief,
and get me out of this sea,
I'm a swim the sea 'til I reach the sand,
wet the desert 'til the plants grow grand,
'til the storm clears up,
and the grass gleams up,
I'm a march toward a life I succeed.
It's the indecision that's stopped me and a lack of belief
sabotage my existence got me gritting my teeth
A new leaf it's time to reach deep down beneath me
time to pay my parents back for all they did
show 'em I've grown and I aint stupid
I'm trying to self inspire and spark some life into these wires
'cus though my tries fail know my tries aint in short supply
so however traumatised I'm a stay wise
I'm under a landslide but I'm digging a tunnel
and I'll never allow the day that you see my funeral
I'll funnel out the self doubt from now on
I'm a man up and I'm a be strong
They'll be no more excuses allowing the useless
I'm a treat this depression ruthless
and remove its presence with no hesitant movements
I won't lose or run in circles
I won't hide in shells like turtles
I'm a square up and give it hell
I won't let this failure finish my tale
I'm a put depression in a coffin and hammer in the nail
I won't drop or stop
I'm obsessed with reaching the top
because the lowest depth didn't cause death
and I'm still taking in breaths
so you can scoff at me oftenly
but I swear to God nothing aint stopping me!

Something that used to be so flavorful, sweet, and tempting has done nothing more for me now than left a bitter taste in my mouth, and a sting upon my rooftop
Kissing you was fun, but only for so long as the early morning went on and on
Sometimes old favor songs come on, and it reminds me of a much happier place
Pretty hazy now,
The memories begin to fade, and as you smoke more weed the anxiety starts to fade away .
Your car gives me a heart attack, anytime I am on the road I have to look back, so paranoid by the fact that you could be right there it puts a most foul and disgusting odor in the air
It reminds me of the smell of burning flesh, and my stomach begins to tie in knots.
My stomach drops six feet under, and it is there no longer there,
Thumb, thumb, thumb, better square up your heart, you wouldn’t want to have a seizure now would ya
As the blood oozes out and you watch it pour in your hands and on your clothes, you take out a needle and begin to sew
Something you are most used too, the pain is sometimes so real.
All in your head, yes it is, but sometimes it’s a physical illness too, forever feeling sick and lonely I look out the window and get into the zone
I always think about the long winter nights, they remind me of the days that didn’t make sense
The winter is m comfort zone, it’s the only time I feel at home.

I
4:forty 4 in the a.m. scene
and I had been awakened by
the strangest of dreams:
of an overdressed Lion,
and Gator
And tales
of their peculiar golfcart
that was actually
two young whales,
who would swim them around
from each island and towne
while they both gorged upon snails...
Now, this twosome
(I'm told)
did become very bold.
as they chided and ordered
these blowholes...
and while missing the goal
(on each green, and each shoal)
would dig the sweet clams
of each sand trap...
and then they'd partake
(with some lemon, and cake)
leaving a trail of dead
shells by the golf map,
Said the Lion to He
that was all scale E:
"It's your shot, cause I'm closer
to Home"
so the Gator
(It's said)
did square up his head
And swung
while on his cell phone
to a blabbering Yak
who had stopped
for a snack
of a thick shake
and Cheesey
Big Mac...

SHOWTIME
Holocaust swivelled at the turn of these events,
Stimulated by the wrath of a country's vent.
Time wasted and extravagantly spent
Until the shape of democracy brutally sees a dent?
New blockbusters; as periodic protagonist election
square-up with the vile villain called selection.
INEC is the man in stripes refereeing,
(the usual suspect of the nations suffering).
Nigeria's centre stage of the world's innocence
And the entire globe is the audience.
Power is like a baby in demand and divinely sent
to be given out to prospective parents.
Who will take custody of the most sort after?
Watch out for the 2023-26 version of Nigeria,
Watch out for court cases and unexpected faces,
especially in Aso Rock and Daily front pages.
Watch out for interim governance;
At the presidential seat, for instance.
All in a journey to a better Nigeria,
greeted by the eruption of mass hysteria,
In fulfilment of God's concealed wisdom.
Corruption grips us tightly but we fight for freedom.
The labour of our heroes past (and present)
shall not be in vain & won't pass but witness
the advent of newness purged by bloodbath
And tirades of a people's wrath.
The late legends: our history book heroes,
#EndSars protest young martyrs who caw as crows
and the present-day youth revolutionist
Shall all eat the fruit of their labour as they enlist
in the fight to realise Rebirth & forsook apathy.
We the New Nigeria activists are the Labour Party???
And our labour will not be in vain ????
The reign of Old Nigeria will finally wane.

Before:
When no middle ground can be found amid rifts
They’ll send in a few unsolicited gifts
The east and the west shall politely decline
each incoming gift with a two fingered sign
It’s ‘You show me yours and I’ll show you mine
You’ll find mine is bigger and faster than thine’.
Those egotist madmen square up, face to face
Each has a red button hidden some place
During:
There’s streaks in the sky where the incoming fly
They can’t be outrun although some people try
A sullen man says in a voice that is wry,
“It’s a good day for kissing your backside goodbye.”
One handshake may well have made this a good day
Instead I head home where I’ll kneel down and pray
I hope that my lady will manage a laugh
When I say, “Let’s hide under that old tin bath.”
After:
The dust and the glory, the horror before me
No Big Mac and no more knickerbocker glory
The buildings, the trees and the telephone towers
Lay in the dust made by opposing powers
We showed em, we taught em, that we won’t be beat
And we won the war but with ashes to eat
The reds are all melted and their allies too
And we reign supreme but hey… where are you?
I’m sure you’re here somewhere to savour our win
To search through the rubble for champagne or gin
It seems there’s no signal for our mobile phones
but why is your purse amid those charcoaled bones
What will you think of my distorted face
With tumours and fissures all over the place
The air is so hot and it hard to perceive
That if I should die there is no one to grieve
I’m breathing in soot and I finally see
Earth’s last pair of lungs are afire in me
My last living thought now that humans are done
Is ‘God save the west… and I’m so glad we won.’

You’ve got roids
I wouldn’t use that
make you annoyed
why choose that
You think you’re better
as you get bigger
bulging with water
oh what a blinger
You’re as strong as before
and clearly less clever
now a coward been hypnotised
lack power when hit the guys
Appearing bigger and thick
as you square up all slick
yet fail to figure quick
as you carry on long lip
Go on then give him a lick
he's scared he's quiet
with muscles real no trick
powerful to scar in a riot
punch after punch felt
lose the tussle fluid muscle
block out you're disillusional
definitely a deluded fool
those steroids look a weasel
no pause the paws pummel
lack strength and crumble
now you're done for
Using roids like a puss cat
stop and you deflate flat
a pathetic boy and just that
the beaten fighter looks a prat
Pick on real men you get beat
boys on steroids are mentally weak

Dark and mischievous clouds of deceit hang over the palace of the pharaoh's
The people once again 'in their 'droves gather 'call out and speak what has been placed into their tired and abused souls .
The uncaring potential rulers each wear a wry smile ,
Trying their best not to let utter contempt for the people shine through.
The spectacle begins with music that is supposed to show these dark creatures in a shadow of in-common.
Frantic Calls for hate and war too continue along with false hope are thrown out by these mesmerisers like bread to the hungry .
Famished these people are for change and release from their bondage.
The repeated re-shackling of themselves willingly 'by themselves has beaten them down into complete blind submission.
Their faith in the old gods without any care of consequence was given up in exchange for gold long ago .
pharaoh's from past and present have 'and continue to give their gleeful blessings at this evil and wicked truth .
The stage is set and the people in total trance as these two demons begin to square up to one another 'repeatedly asking for their captives trust, whilst spitting reasons as why not trust the other .
Through the window of the palace 'looking upon this deceitful showing
Is pure evil 'awaiting the out come of Either way .
As before and so shall be again the people will dutifully demand their freedom and rights taken away through fear and trickery 'He then shall step back in 'and make it as such .
Under his Dictates 'The newly elected pharaoh shall continue to lead and command these people away from the light 'but yet ever further into the cold darkness of hopelessness and despair .
It is now time to awake 'and walk away from that Demonic showing ,
for the good of all and that of 'freedom sake ,
And so mote it be .

Blank verse
Never get caught in his sight
If u are, u're in for a fight
Don't mistake him for a fool
Listen up! I'm about 2 take u 2 school
Run as fast as u can!
Better watch out he's a bad man!
Heed my warnings
If not, u will see no more mornings
Pushing up daisies
He doesn't come off as crazy
Keep an eye on both of his hands
Or u might find out why he's a bad man
He's kept the evil at bay for a long time
But now, vengence is on his mind
A day late and a dollar short
U better come up with a plan of some sort
Silent and deadly
His hands r always steady
U r going to find out firsthand
Why I keep telling u he's a bad bad man
Eyes in the back of ur head
Red dot on ur forehead
Hide under the covers in ur bed
U will never see his style and swag
Think fast or u'll end up in a body bag
On ur own 2 feet u will have to stand
Square up cuz he's a bad man
Silver tongued devil
He functions on a deadly level
Always gets his target by any means
U might catch him rockin jeans
He might be wearing black slacks
Let just cut to the facts jack!
Run as far as u can!
Goddamn, he's a bad man!

Perfection as a goal demands correction;
accepting mistakes requires some reflecting..
Call me a square if you like but I'll admit
when it comes to money, I keep short accounts.
Simplicity puts tender in the kitty;
humility builds reckoning, quality.
It can be smart to start with "I am sorry,"
then move on to square up any damage done.
Meeting with candor - never self-defeating.
treating others as fellows means no cheating;
While allowing for the factor of mercy
the product of two equal terms becomes square.
If you owe me something, I won't cause a rift.
Swift resolution counts, I am no spendthrift.
Square dealings focus on making all sides straight;.
such practice eliminates hate and distrust.

Every time I heard my mother cry
I would come barreling down the stairs
to square up to my father,
both of us fuming on the edge of a fight.
As a child when you have yet to experience
the intricate petty traumas of a relationship.
The world is clear-cut, not a puzzle of pitfalls
where you must grapple with the right light
the way you would pull up a kitten
from a well.
Mother was no kitten, and a boy cannot save
a woman who plays cat and mouse games.
Father was a good man made weak,
worn out by doing the best he could.
Their battles were a joust,
their fighting had rules of engagement.
Boys and their mothers also have rules,
they agree to die for each other,
even when there is so very little to die for.
