Best Spirit Up Poems

Holy Spirit

Elusive being sought by far and wide
Seen by many unresponsive to our call
As veiled, elusive vacillating bride
Apparently intending to forestall

Don’t look for Holy Spirit up above
Nor in the dark of night in call of prayer
That being portrayed as a Snow White dove
Comes not with feather born on breath of air

Could it be our signal error in this quest
Is our focus on external source of blessing
Wishing ever hopeful answers to request
For unwanted situation - a redressing

While The Holy Spirit hidden by our sin
So close to be unseen is deep within

Premium Member 'fear of Love' Is An Oxymoron

If you fear love, Love, love it cannot be,
Love’s always there to lift your spirit up,
Your sins to bear, like Christ on Calvary.
With love there‘s never a half empty cup.

Love's yoke is easy, its burden is light,
Love's lullaby’s there to rock you to sleep,
Love is never without tears for your plight,
Love needs no reminder its promise to keep.

It’s not love you fear, but death in disguise,
Love's absence, dressed up in its finery,
Still what do you gain fearing the moon’s rise,
Or that the sun will sink into the sea?

Death (if it exists) is just lack of love,
Love’s all that’s required death to vanquish,
Life is to love as hand is to a glove
And to just cling to life is a fool’s wish.

So while we have life let’s all share our love,
There’s no time like the present to do this,
Fill hearts both on earth and heaven above,
The miraculous gift born of a kiss.

Prisonomics

Homemade dungeons spirit up through governmental finance. An alone home to the flight risk, trial sick, authoritative kind. So much time now spent hitting the rewind to come upon the never wanted find inside the attested mind. A proven confinement to so many of 21st century are designed to be low level offended and less related to all of mankind. Circumstantial evidence is assigned to take down this kind.
Rights never amended, as the felonious records are drug offended. Inside the gang life is blended. Friendships are far from being mended. Instead many lives are ended. A never before scene of the wrongfully accused and had been at the criminology since the age of thirteen. There is no remedy for this no vaccine. Most are pumped up and made into a machine who love the daily clink routine.
Orange jumpsuits scatter the yard. Once a slip arrives they’ll pull your card. Heated from the mentality built throughout the year. Constantly lying awake at night not knowing what to fear. Is death near? Corrupt guards take aim with fear in the name but then the high paid lawyer shifts it to a high octane gear. This will definitely give the prosecutor something to fear. The facts are straightened now it’s time to finally steer.
The man in the mirror once publicly crucified humiliated inside, and tried never dabbled in that attack. Yet he still caught all of the flack. Hundreds of nights spent on the uncomfortable nightmarish rack. But here then comes the judge as the least fortunate try to resolve with the new found fact. Leaving here is all he wanted with his freedom and dignity intact. The stands were pact, the jury deliberates, not guilty, evidence not filthy, the gavel tolls, can this be all so real? This is the sound of the governmental deal trying to lay hate to determine one’s fate then to be sealed.

~ ~ ~

     Is that the sun ...

Or an eye of the devil??
Blood red and squinting, hard ...
It's the sun, I can tell now,
A long cloud crimping its upper edge,

Horizon cutting the bottom.
But the devil it might as well be,
Come for his last laugh ...
Come to watch me suck my last, icy breath,

And wink his victory into the eventide.
          But here's the trick ...
I'm not done - not yet.
     Oh, I haven't long, that's true ...

K2 has broken my body,
And my life slowly seeps away ...
Out, onto the chaste white of this mountain.
But neither day nor devil will laugh last!

I will breathe on into the night,
And give my spirit up to the moon ...
That pale companion that has seen me through,
That has painted romance and joy and peace on my existence,

And watched over me since childhood,
When it promised me its allegiance and love.
Yes, it is only the moon that will claim this weary spirit, mine,
Not the cold or the wind or the devil-eyed sun ...

Or this brutal and beautiful peak.

~You Raise Me Up~
(Trine)

When troubles blow my way and just come
You help me see much better and then some.

You raise my spirit up and my soul like no one can
You're my Savior and you want to save every man.

With you I don't have to walk anymore all alone
And I know that you love me just like no one.

You give me serenity, love, hope, peace when my thoughts lost just roam.
You help heal my broken heart and you have for me the most perfect plan.
I'm so happy that one day I'll stand and praise You in front of your throne.

Death Is Nothing: the True Story of Nat Turner - Part 1

The original version of this piece is too long for me
to post in its entirety, so it had to be sectioned off. Of
all that I've written, I am most proud of this work due
to its historical accuracy. I hope you enjoy it as well. It
was an honor to write this.

Lying in this shallow ditch I hear as they arrive, the
miracle of God is all that's keeping me alive,

and it is that belief in God to which each day I strive,
surprised at this much faith? Just simply gaze into
my life.

Was born in 1800, month October 2nd day, and knee
high to a hopper when my daddy ran away,

before you climb your soapbox and begin to think
that way, remember these are times when all the
black folk here are slaves.

Imagine being sold like stock, to work when cold or
hot, the overseers beatin people if they're old or not,

do not defy the owner, best believe you will be sick,
of getting 10 to 20 lashes from the master's whip.

My last name wasn't given at my birth and that's a
fact, my given name's Nathaniel but they choose to
call me Nat,

the surname of my owner Samuel is what I claim,
you put it all together yes, Nat Turner is my name.

I think about Old Bridget, that's my grandmother you
know, they snatched her out of Ghana, brought her
here to freezing cold,

she ran the Coromantee who were known for slave
revolts, she watched the seeds get planted in me
grow and take a hold.

I thought myself the lucky one for I could read and
write, it brought me to The Bible and I learned to
read it right,

then spent my childhood years admidst the Spirit up
above, it fit my needy soul just like a mitten or a glove.

I ran away at first when I was only 22, I should've
stayed away because I really wanted to,

but 1 month later, picture this it's me a black man
free, a vision told me that I should go back and that
was key.

The visions I receive I know are messages from
God, Old Bridget had religion shining deep within my
heart,

I will inform the brethren and won't stop until they're
saved, The Prophet is the name that I was called by
fellow slaves.

As 6 years pass of this I know it never is too late, the
hands of the Almighty have me primed for
something great,

I carry heavy shoulders for a man of 28, until I
worked the master's field one faithful day in May........

~In God I Trust~

Ice- Cream

Ice cream opens your senses
What ice cream is to taste senses
This is to a soul
It lifts spirit up beyond all control

Let’s take for a moment there is nothing beyond abstract
Simply less and more abstract
This is pinnacle of abstract
This would be greatest thing ever and that is a fact

In our mind we imagine infinity
We imagine continuity
But they are both constructs of our limited mind
So what would be creation of unlimited mind?

Wonderful mathematical constructs are formed at the base
So in pinnacle of the mind what would take their place?
It would have to be mesmerizing majesty
That reflection of our deepest essence would be

Africa

AFRICA
Africa! A land flowing with milk and honey.
Devoured by greed and the love for money
Where corruption thrives and war is a common place
Where will Africa show her true real face?

Africa! The Land of lions and zebras
Where men are hunted down like fishes in rivers
Arise Africa! For your children are suffering
Cursed with a black skin
Does this means I am nothing?
Africa today is like Africa yesterday
Good men like Nkrumah were never allowed to stay

Africa! I shed tears of blood for your children
A thousand years from now
And they still know not their brethren

Africa! A land blessed with so many cultures
Where children are labeled witches
Killed
And eaten by vultures
Africa! When will you move at a faster pace?
So that you can take us all to that promised place

Africa! The home of voodoo and magic
Where technology is forgotten
Because nobody wants it
Africa! A land abandoned by youths and scholars
Where farmers leave their hoes in search of collars
Africa! A land of so many opportunities
With fertile soil and rock but still limited possibilities

Africa! A land filled with gold and oil
Where we languish in poverty
Because we do not benefit from the soil

Africa! Where money is stolen from the people by the leaders
Where sadness is read in the newspapers by readers
Black ogres feeding fat on flesh and blood
Human beings desecrated without fear of God
When will Africa show her true real face?
And lift the curse of Ham on the entire black race

Africa! A land that tries to copy democracy
But the only thing that is done is outright hypocrisy
Africa! the key to your redemption is not only violence
But we must bring the evil doers to their knees
Before we sentence them to silence
Bang! Bang! Bang! Machine gun fire none stop
Come on Africa I shall lift your spirit up

Africa! One day the messiah will come
He will rid us off these thieves and the very scum
Then your glory will shine like a big red sun
That is when I say Africa our work is done

Anger

anger is the flush that clogs that
fills the pretty pretty air with smog-
it isn't fair but it's over there, watching,
peering, lurking, jerking
off & leaving
nasty sticky stains-
don't strain yourself, it comes
& goes without warning, swarming
the innocent family, surrounding, pounding
its way in- using ears mouths & limbs
as entrances, arriving confetti sparkling
the sinuses of thought- i'm sneezing-
i'm seething- i'm wrought with mucus-
murky tunnels that seem to be getting
smaller smaller too
small to
fall-
i crawl
blissfully unaware
i'm spiralling inward
-because i care, i don't-
i am the bird smashcrumbling into the ever
clean glass, the massive shatter overrides
& then destroys the whisper (pitterpatter) the
suddenly splattered convoy of intensity- can't
help can't stifle this propensity to continue,
to punctuate 'accident' with perpetuity;
such stability is fluid, washes,
evaporates,
brings the spirit up only to
dissipate, fall, & falter again.

Tales of Two Run Outs

There was a legend in the world of cricket,
For whom fans rushed to buy the tickets.
Who started getting run out on 1st wicket
And like a poem, got run-out as well in his last ODI wicket.

He had a long hair and dazzling charm,
Far and wide he was so suprisingly calm,
He proved world there’s more to life than being a ticket collector.
He turned his life around, an exmaple of perfect motivator.

He grabbed the open opportunity to be a leader,
His tactics make him seem like a mind reader,
Helping India win the inaugural T20 cup
His presence alone lifted the team spirit up.

Removing all seniors was a risk indeed,
Could have costed India's position to recede.
But his guts were at level unmatched,
He used his bat like another arm attached.

Fastest runner between the wicket,
Quickest stumper to blow off wicket,
Calmest skipper who triumphed the English game,
With steel of nerves, brought glory to India's name.

He anchored our nation to lift ODI cup,
Couple years bought the Champions cup
Refused to surrender to fate of being idle,
Worked hard to become youngster's IDOL.

No player can match his legacy,
Few can achieve his supremacy ,
Old Fogies envy him with jealousy,
Because what he got aint normalcy,

Premium Member Thoughts of You

Thoughts of you occur walking hills
In nodding heads of daffodils
In fields of green and waterfall
In trees standing stately and tall.

You are there in the rising sun
In darkness when the day is done
The bright sunshine that follows rain
Raising my spirit up again.

I hear you in string symphony
In choirs singing in harmony
In sound of birds in trees tweeting
In spring’s newly born lambs bleating.

I wish us both back together
Each moment being a treasure
Life has no purpose since you passed
If only life was meant to last.

I sense the softness of your lips
One reason why my heart does flips
The memoirs never fade away
You’re in my thoughts each night each day.

The Soul Drifter

The soul leaves the body as the school boy jumps from a school door, suddenly and with joy. You take your last breath and depart from your fleshy death. The angels sing a peaceful song that takes your spirit up all day long. As people mourn and mourn, your new body will have a glorious form. Their is tears on earth but in heaven their is rivers that overflow it’s turf. The school boy’s eyes gets wide and sees his loved ones that no longer hide. With joy he shouts and screams i have made it out loud. When you hear a heavenly whisper, that is your angel’s calling take off drifter. They are ministering spirits that take you to paradise that unites you with gathering spirits who are nice. God Bless!

Little Applegate Woman

Little Applegate woman look at what your life
Has grown up to be
Your world created from the raindrops
That glisten as far as you can see
Your imagination that skips across the sky
Singing such a beautiful lullaby
That lifts your spirit up so high
Opening a world full of many animals & friends
That fills life with the love that never ends

God's love bestowed upon you right from the start
All of it playing such a significant part
Deep down inside, you are never far apart
With God who lives surrounding your heart
Shining down on us with so much love
Reaching out from the heavens up above
Your faith floats along like a beautiful love song
That lives in your mind always finding a place
In your imagined world of Gods amazing grace
That simply replaced what modern living provides
Knowing the life that God filled on the little Applegate
Such a magical place on the way to heavens gate

That built your moral crust so it will never fail or rust
Giving way to the many who encounter your holy trust
Allowing them to find the angels dust
To witness his healing powers
That will flower in many, in their darkest hours
Without slack that keeps the devil off your back
Which brings all your memories on track
That allowed the little Applegate woman in you
To grow up to be the strength That was so key

To surrender God's love for all your family to see
Trusting his spirit is free to roam inside of thee
Protected from all Satan's disguise
That is full of his deceptive lies
That blinds us with open eyes
Little Applegate woman who hears my cry
Won’t you teach me to fly with God by my side
For I don’t want this life to pass me by
Without living and feeling God as such an ultimate high
