Best Singapore Poems

On a Photograph From Singapore

You become Raffles and its Long Bar.
Better, I'd imagine, than it needs,
or probably deserves.
Happy, fair,
tanned loveliness with a dash of sauce
and a hint, I think, of innocence.
Had I noticed that before?

Melbourne today is cold and squally.
Now where I look is stained with sallow sunshine
then buffeted by gloom thicked winds
then still.
Then lashed by rain then still again.
And all about are sodden drifts of autumn.
I wish you were here.

Singapore Limericks

SINGAPORE LIMERICKS

1.	The daughter

There once was a crusty old hawker
who married his neighbour’s fat daughter
She thought she’d be rich
But she did not know which
Was the reason behind why he’d sought her.

2.	The laksa man

You’d have heard of the hawker named Tan
Who fried all his food in a pan
His clients set trends
And told all their friends
Now the queues almost stretch to Japan.

3.	The Obese eater

Now here is an interesting stat,
If you stop by that stall for a chat
You’ll meet some police
Who are really obese
For the stall’s name is Soon Too Fatt.

4.	Fasting: not

There once was a man so bullheaded
His eating hours always extended
He’d go to the stalls
But not in the malls,
And eat till his chest was distended.

5.	Pizza

A cook who was trying to please
Cooked some pizza with far too much cheese,
He collapsed from the strain,
Said his doctor, "It's plain
You are killing yourself with the grease!"

6.	The Bedok Disaster

A careless old cook from Bedok
One day had a terrible shock,
He turned on the stove,
In his hawker’s alcove,
And exploded with all of his stock

7.	Who?

I know an old man we’ll call Choo,
As he cooked he would call out “Hoo Hoo,"
As the people walked by
They all wondered why,
But none of them had any clue.

8.	The rescue

A hawker got stuck in his stall
Because he was terribly tall.
People asked what was what
With his head in a pot
But all he could do was to bawl.

Premium Member Esplanade, Singapore

So swiftly now, so much of change;
Time yields endow, time feels so strange.

So quickly here, so change feels strange;
The times brought cheer, the feel of change.

It seems a flash, a brilliant blur;
The spiral dash, an affluent spur.

The new shapes bare the facelift here;
A bright fringe wears a surreal cheer.

First the world view, then the climax;
Watch plays on cue, let style attract.

Let charm and grace show off finesse;
Cash funds this place with stylish bash.

Two fruity domes speak of culture;
Cues can find home in proud gestures.

This Esplanade like durian thorns
Wears a facade to greet new haunts.

Once upon then, the sea felt near;
Now we know when aplomb can steer.

Age catches up to one and all;
An empty cup fills sad recall.

Days and nights here are like elsewhere;
Live for good cheer, live here or there.

So much of change can feel crazy;
Accept the strange, work out easy.

So much of thought can dye meaning;
Our ample lots drive our shoutings.

So here we meet at life's crossroads;
We laugh and greet despite harsh loads.

Start with firm heart where mind sees truth,
Intent sets free the best you can;
Note how to start to work sure proof,
Grow then wisely with working plans;
Align true health with steadfast poise,
Plant and sow well the seeds that grow;
Opt to earn wealth with steady choice,
Reap more that sells what finesse shows;
Express the means to gather more.
Focus on thoughts that cause clear acts,
Indulge true wins that fill your stores;
Feel play and plot that frame bold tact,
Thrill vivid dream with success here,
Yield lavish schemes that spark fond cheer.

The Singapore Math

How fascinating and striking.
How deep and burrowing.
How inspiring and imaginative.
How insightful and thoughtful.
How constructive and moulding.
How explanatory and crytal clear.
How indulging and exploring.
How communicative and relating.
How unique and standard.
How verbal and interactive.
The intellectual developmental
approach for every being.
Beings who best integrate in the world.
How great the Singapore Math is.

The Cat Ladies of Singapore

A

Cat loving ladies
A ministry of cat care
To hungry felines.

B

Each day. Unfailing
Feeding your chosen creatures
Making us feel good.

C

I see and I ask
Why are these animals here?
Someone must love them.

D

Tabby. Persian. Black.
Each and every day they’re back
And their carers smile.

E

I try patting her.
Snarling she runs off frightened.
I’m not her lady.

Haze In Singapore

I went to Singapore last week
I can smell something like smoke everywhere
and actually there was a forest fire at Indonesia
which is a neighboring country on a big island

My friend told me to wear a mask to avoid HAZE
no wonder I saw so many people wearing mask
I was scared at the first but maybe it is not that dangerous
so I calmed down a little bit and ate my lunch

I went to my hotel to check in
and I went to my room and I saw outside the window
and it was really smokey everywhere
so I went nearby shopping mall and shopped for awhile

After that I went to eat my dinner at a food court
and hang out a little bit with my friends in the arcade
when I went out it really smell even though I wore my mask
I went back to my room and I slept early because of the smell

I woke up and the haze got really serious it shocked me
my friend said that we can't go to Universal Studios theme park today
I was kind of upset because I waited for this day really long
but he said that we can go tomorrow then I waited for tomorrow

When I woke up it was RAINING what the heck was wrong with my LUCK?
then the rain stopped and my friend told me WE CAN GO!!!!
yes finally and I was really happy
We went to Universal Studios and we had fun

Then it was time to go back to California
when I went back something smelled
it smelled like smoke everyone wore masks and it was smokey
OMG!!!!!!The End

Springtime In Singapore

Tropical currents generate warmth.
Palms fronds and wild nectar drift lightly along.
Busy, manicured streets run straight.
Where can I hear that pure song?
The tune from your heart so divine,
it's melody can never be gone.

Is this meeting the first or the last?
Can chains be unlinked and finally stand broken?
Fears have been realized and shaken.
Too much has been written and spoken.
Your intoxicating persona has drugged me.
A wounded life cannot be bought with a token.

I have dreamed of caressing your cinnamon skin,
running my hands through your raven strands of hair.
To be united with your soul in this world,
on a distant island without a care,
where stolen moments must last a lifetime.
A permanent home is what we should share.

Ode To Singapore

Oh Singapore, the Lion City, how you roar
A marvel of modernity, a city to adore
Your skyline soars high into the heavens
A testament to the ambition of your citizens

And there, the Merlion stands proud and tall
Half lion, half fish, a symbol of your soul
A creature of myth, that captures the heart
A beacon of hope, that sets us apart

In every corner, a blend of cultures thrive
A melting pot of people, who come alive
From Chinatown to Little India, each a delight
A feast for the senses, a captivating sight

Your Gardens by the Bay, a masterpiece of art
A verdant oasis, that soothes the heart
With Supertrees that reach up to the sky
A wonderland of greenery, that leaves us awry

Your hawker centers, a gastronomic paradise
A haven for foodies, with endless delights
From Hainanese chicken rice to laksa
A taste of Singapore, we cannot miss

And let's not forget your disciplined order
A hallmark of your efficiency, without a border
Clean and green, a city-state so fine
Singapore, you truly are divine

So here's an ode to Singapore, a city of dreams
A place of endless possibilities, or so it seems
A lion that roars with might and power
Singapore, you reign supreme, hour by hour.

My Hazed Singapore

My Hazed Singapore!
My once gleaming and buzzing city
Now forlorn and glum
Relentless blaze and we keep mum
Hazy, crazy, why can’t I see
The silent intruder reminds me
How fragile life and existence can be
Gone the sunshine that sparrows once chirped
The smiles of flowers and trees usurped
Young and old huddling in on tasks
Strong and robust scurrying off in masks
Can we not check their insidious greed?
Let the long arms of the law act indeed!

By eastern shores, an island state;
A red dot small on the world map;
Work weaves a core to seal our fate;
We heed the call to bridge our gaps.

We greet the world with steadfast poise;
Align our hearts and minds to live;
Let focus swirl with steady choice;
Explore the art to serve and give.

There is a way to do what's right;
Live with spirit that forges proof;
Let peace portray a simple light;
Watch work and wit abide in truth.

Yes with one poise, we live and play;
Our women wear meek charming smiles;
Our children voice a sanguine say;
Ambition fares in brand new styles.

May all our dreams for Singapore
Bring fond blessings for one and all;
May cheery schemes bring joy galore;
May your passing bind big and small.

May all things good now happen here;
May we be strong when trials entwine;
May our true mood be one of cheer;
May anthem song rouse yours and mine!

May faith and hope steer lovely days;
May love help live your legacy;
Your foresight scopes our vibrant ways;
Your spirit lives in all we see.

Goodbye dear son of Singapore:
The way you paved brought us thus far;
Each dawn, the sun blesses our shores;
Rest with the brave fond sparkling stars.

Start with fond feel to find your way,
Indulge your heart that knows the truth;
Note what you will the time of day,
Glimpse love's sure art with mystic proof;
Abide with grace the touch that heals,
Peace floods and fills the ample spheres;
Observe the space where time retreats,
Reach and distill true faith that cheers;
Exult in light that forms all things.
Touch deep stirrings that come to you,
Outline fine sights that ever spring;
Dance sure living as beauty cues,
Align and see your journey quest,
Yield what must be zest that works best.

Sing Some More In Singapore

HEY CJ….. EVER SEENG IN SEENGAPORE?

I heard you sing in Singapore
And begged thee to sing some more
And so thy song traversed lips of red
A lullaby you sang till I lay my head to bed\

I heard you sing in Singapore with virtuosity and in voice
‘Twas a twist of fate that fate had no other fateful choice
And so you sang fluidly and ne’re dare distractions
While the musical mosaic and your voice were the nutual main attractions

Then Singapore stilled its clappers and silenced all the bells
As each listener was entranced by divergent spells
being mystified by your beauty and beatitude combined
While men had visions of he and you meandering in his mind

Thusly did Singapore and I beg for one more enchanting song
And on that Asian stage is where a lovely like you should belong
Quite frankly my dear it’s your silhouette and song I cannot ignore
And the perfect time iswhenever you agree to sing some more in Singapore

Sleep, Please

It’s both red and crimson

Same you say? But different.

It looks smaller than anything else you’ve prescribed
but in the end
it’s all just another cocktail -
   a cocktail of substances trying to keep me alive
   or sane
   or both.

Sane

Lack of sleep is woeful
as a life of permanent jet lag
confuses the mind
like a heavy London smog
before they cleaned up their act

or for those unable to recall
Singapore enveloped in Indonesia’s haste
to burn all before them
satisfying the greed that the essence of palm
may  grease the hands
of those whom welfare has forgotten.

Sane?

I fear not.

250: get off the street!
Red welts and leg pains increase
as clots and other pulmonary concerns
caused by pollutents
send me deep into the intensive care of
expensive foreign concerns

This one is red and crimson.

Same you say, but different
trying to keep me sane.

Compounded, you assure
Confounded, I demure.

Will it give me rest
or merely knock me out
sending me to restless slumber
full of dungeons and dragons
and sick puppies all needing me to help?

Two-toned red.

Trust me, I’m your doctor.

Trust me, I have to take the infernal thing.

Sleep, o sleep, why hast thou abandoned me?

Shades of red and land of Nod
beckons...

I hope
