Best Salutations Poems

Salutations

Salutations to all the poets
That waters my ink,
Those whose words never
Make my heart shrink,
Of you always i ever will think,
Standing alone, i could sink
So i grasped on your knowledge
That is without stink.
        *=~*~=*
Phyllis Babcock is a raining day,
In her Motherhood, no
Hot sun to hinder my play.
Carolyn Devonshire is a rose flower,
Tender Mother and even from afar, her
Lightening Ink draws me closer.
        *=~*~=*
Linda Marie, the Sweet heart of P S,
Is the essence of love letters
Her poems are like the good weathers,
Constance La France is indeed a rambling poet,
No wonder, her lines drives me to the point,
Doris Culverhouse won my heart,
She trades literature,
The poet Destroyer kills me
With Ink, a poet by nature.
Dr. Ram Mahta is a poetic chef,
He stirs the soup with delicious thoughts.
         *=~*~=*
Heart dedication to all my poetic friends...
For your presence is like fragrance to my breath.
Gari La Buda, an inspiration, Richard Carrie, a melodious pen, Carol Brown, a steady one,
All of you are Lightening Inks.....

Salutations To Tiranga -Indian National Flag

Salutations to Tiranga (Indian National Flag)

Mother India was freed from the British shackles...
To tyranny we bid adieu, new freedom welcomed!
'Tiranga' with due honour, replaced the 'Union jack'
Fluttered in the blue sky in the glory of victory!
Orchestra of happy moods had finally arrived,
Calling for celebrations with full pomp and joy!
Our National Anthem sung and Trumphets blown
All Indians joined festivity forgetting all woes!
Adding wings to this happiness, the Tricolour fluttered!!

Breeze of bloodbath and fetters all disappeared
Flew with resplendence this khadi splendour!
Three stripes horizontal with a central wheel
Top is the saffron for selflessness and valour,
Also marks vibrant hue of Ego absolution!
White in the middle stands for peace and purity
Also Knowledge and honesty attribute to it
The dark green in the third stripe is for faith and fertility,
Happiness and prosperity for a greener globe!
The wheel of dharma adopted from the Lion capital,
That once sung heroism of Asoka, the Emperor!
In navy blue is this wheel placed in the centre,
Progress it represents with spokes twenty-four

Ignites a spark of deep patriotism as it flutters
Wrapped around cadaver of the martyrs of this mother
Glory to Tiranga, Glory to the Nation,
World's largest democracy salutes this symbol
Let our flag soar high and keep our spirits boosted
Long live Tiranga till the sky is above!

~Autumnal Salutations~
(Haiku/ Senryu Suite)

This morning is great
The airs refreshing and cool
Autumn's almost here

Feeling of newness
There's some lightness around now
And the birds still roam

New days just starting
There's so much to do today
So many new plans

Thank God for today
Think of friends and family
For them send prayers

Wish them all the best
Everyone's in my heart thoughts
God bless them and you

Prayers go to God
I am so thankful for each day
That He's given me

Day belongs to Him
Created all that is good
My God is awesome

Greatest painter
Masterful brushworks He paints
Everyday all time

Summer soon to go
Hot days no more and pretty
Fall will settle down

Many things to plan
Some great holidays will come soon
And we'll celebrate.

Premium Member On the Salutations of Ginsberg To Pessoa and Pessoa's Alvaro To Whitman

Every time I read Pessoa I think
I'm better than he is
Salutations to Fernando Pessoa-Alan Ginsberg

Me, the monocled one, with my foppish belted waistcoat,
I'm not unworthy of you, Walt,
I'm not unworthy of you, my saluting you proves it . . .
Salute to Walt Whitman- Fernando Pessoa

Here from a place in my heart, I salute you,
Female as I am, and unknown,
Should I be praising Emily, Plath or Achmatova?
But you started it Pessoa! with your Alvaro comparing himself
to Whitman, not content to admit to a greatness of your own
and now I find dear Mr. Ginsberg confessing to his greatness in
epic manner, name dropping from Socrates to Michelangelo
admitting faults in the same breath-tracking his enlightenment
and if it was written tongue in cheek, I missed it.

How I admire the great poets that wade into the mainstream
appearing where the greatest wrongs appear, risking even
death for their beliefs, celebrated by those who embrace their
point of view, but what of the  unknown poets in the world;
so many whose work is equally astounding, yet unexposed.
Musings on every subject known to man, set down in metaphor
and rhyme makes me wonder what brings immortal recognition
Is it from making a devoted study or from mixing in the right circles?
The hallowed halls of academia or is it some -one's tiny jounal
of handwritten poems waiting for discovery, the enlightenment
of the next century?
Poets, don't often, answer to their fame - writing what's inside of them
for those to come.

I wrote this poem one morning (Thursday, 06 September, 2001)after I had read a poem by Alan Ginsberg in the 1995 edition of The Best American Poetry.
I had never seen the poem he referred to "Salute to Whitman"by Fernando Pessoa
and today when I found it on the web Friday, March 01, 2002, I was suprised to see how similar our opening lines were.

Here are current links to the poems mentioned

~Morning Salutations~
(Lai)

Sunr'se softly soars in
Greets all with a grin.
Bells ring
folks get out,go in
the suns a tad din
Kids sing
making notes with pins
Love birds sweet songs in
hearts brings.

Premium Member Salutations, Spring

We sing your praises long before you’re due
and after you’ve departed—all year long!
You bring green grass and flowers into view—
plus bugs, torrential rains, and winds so strong.

You come with warmth to woo the Earth to life.
Sweet fragrances come wafting on the breeze.
With allergens, the springtime air is rife.
My faucet-nostrils drip; I wheeze and sneeze.

But allergies and rashes can’t negate
your glory. Nor can pollen steal the praise
you’ve earned. Now I’ll just take my meds and wait
till I can relish your more winning ways.

I’ve sneezed on this creation seven times.
My dripping nose baptized the latter rhymes.

Your pleasant salutational way
never fails to make my day.
Whenever you pass by,
you always say "Hi".
I can let you know that I'm OK.

Salutations and Satin Sheets

Pulling up his pants I think he's already forgotten me
Smeared lipstick and a handful of twenty's

Dirty condoms laying on couch, the bed, and the floor
He gives me a mischievous wink and out the door

Now i'm angry at what I've done
A filthy whore with cheap discreet fun

Laying on my bed it smells like sex
My life has always been cursed like a hex

No worries i've got a way to take away the pain
Pulled the trigger on my twenty two and blew out my brain

Spring Salutations

Spring Salutations

Breathe in the air
let it flow through your hair
Stretch your arms up and out wide
lookup at the sunny sky

Bend down to pick bright red roses and blue flowers
beware of tiny honeybees and crawlers
The sun is out smiling
while bluebirds, robins, and yellow finches are flying

Breathe in the air
let it flow through your hair
Bears emerge from hibernation
it’s time for a happy celebration

New life grows and awakens
earth’s wonder and birth cannot be mistaken
Springtime is finally here
greet it with a warm welcoming cheer

Breathe in the air
let it flow through your hair

Salutations To Women

Salutations to Women

Woo Men
That's why Women

Men woo
But they never fall
That's why Women

They don't fall or get wooed

As in woman man is
As in female male is
In always by all means

What more tributes to boost
Follow the same in rites and roots

So don't fall or get wooed

Maintain the status quo
To be in quiet and to be in quite.
