Best Remarkably Poems
You had me oblivious to your antics,
as you hushed me tenderly by the creek
into your hide and seekable
soul-surrendering secret relief.
There, you cottled me into softness
with a simple chin caress,
which continued to smooth
the entire twisting course
of my delicate remorse.
My garments shifted
from their skin,
slipped into the witnessing wind.
You convinced me to sin
so remarkably, so recklessly,
for one worshipped glide
of feigned intimacy.
I bemoan my mixed senses
behind the curtain of uncertainty.
Oh, Romeo, if only I'd known you.
If only I knew that
your prestigious people-pleasing smile
was practice for the play.
That those granny pleasing manners
and Band-Aid banter
would soothe my soul to sleep.
That those jovial jokes
and caramel coated coaxing
would lead me quietly to the creek
where your meaty man hands would span
each inch of my innocence and beyond.
That your chivalrous, chiseled chest
and incandescent camper's scent
would be compressed
against my gentleness.
By this indulgence
I had relinquished your respect
and you had tossed my trust.
So dissolved the blending of lust,
and with it the end of us.
Your camouflaged fibs
of forever love
would continue deep
through the space in my ribs,
into the closing scene.
Romeo, so applause-worthy were you
on your secret stage that
Shakespeare could have cast you
just as you had cast me.

Born in Ireland in eighteen seventy four
He was a remarkably brave explorer
Three times to Antartica he did go
To that barren wilderness of ice and snow.
Once with Captain Scott and twice on his own
And it was on his third visit that his bravery became known
The expedition was to reach the southern pole
For all the great explorers, it was the ultimate goal.
The Weddell sea was freezing and tightened its grip
And crushed the Endurance, the expedition ship
The crew saved all the equipment and food stores too
They were stranded on an ice floe there was nothing they could do.
But the floe breaks up and on the sea it floats
So the order was given to launch the life boats
They set sail for Elephant island in the southern ocean
And with worsening conditions approached it with caution.
It was a temporary move, they knew they couldn't stay
Shackleton had to get help, there was no other way
Except for five crewmen all the rest did remain
On the island for four months with its inhospitable terrain.
South Georgia was the place that they needed to get to
From there they would be able to launch a rescue
Eight hundred nautical miles they had to row and sail
Through gigantic waves with snow, ice and hail.
Stromness whale station, it was their goal
But on their boat the harsh conditions had taken their toll
South of the island they had to land on a beach
Thirty six hours north was help, they needed to reach.
Three of the crew were taken ill, no more could they take
So Shackleton and two others, a long trek they did make
They trekked in conditions that could have caused harm
But they reached the whale station and raised the alarm.
The three sick crewman were rescued, thankfully still alive
And the twenty two on Elephant island were struggling to survive
Penguin and seal meat was what they had to eat
But they kept their hopes up not admitting defeat.
On August the thirtieth in nineteen sixteen
A Chilean navy ship on the horizon was seen
It was Shackletons fourth attempt to rescue his crew
Their ordeal was now over, but hell they'd been through.

Narrative
Recently, my ears have heard
Some news that sounds quite absurd
My eyes can’t believe what they have seen
Is this for real, an outright global panic
Regarding the Coronavirus COVID 19
An epidemic that has turned pandemic
Has it been proved to be certain
That this is not a world government gimmick
I may be in serious denial when it
Comes to this coronavirus microbe
But it’s only because this is my worse nightmare
I am such an enormous compulsive germaphobe
Can’t even engage in my usual weekend shoppin’
Friends messaging all early saying, you better get to coppin’
But why rush, it’s my day off I’m home chillin’
Listening to my music cleanin’ and rockin’
They type back in all caps, EVERYTHING'S GOING FAST
I get to the store and of course it was too late
All the water and toilet paper scarce
In such a remarkably short time span
At least they still have disinfectant
Wait, why is Human Coronavirus
Listed on the Lysol can
Well, well, what do you know, it has began
Definitely have to stock up on some gloves and a mask
And if I’m going be under some kind of lockdown
Do I dare google where to buy a wine cask
Possibility of containment, no bueno
Too think, people been trying to warn us for years
I’m so mad I ignored the signs
Remained knowledgeable but yet comatose
I never thought I would live to see
The day where the world gets attacked by Thanos
Drink your herbal teas and keep up your immunity
You might want to also grab a zinc dose
I would hate for me or you to get a positive
Coronavirus COVID 19 diagnose

"Curls...
Of spring passion?
Lacerations of decadence?
coiled in ringlets at the nape of her neck-
light wrapped in strands iridescent and bent
toward her silhouette's kiss.
Shadows on a match box painting
absorbing the skin and silk shed cloth."
Frozen air movement shakes me awake
as another museum goer
brushes by my sleeve in an attempt to read
the description... (I am nose close...)
Tremendously, I pull myself away
to the Hallucinations of a Toreador
pulling the scope out on my looking glass,
for one is finely tuned, painted with the single hair of a wishing bow...
and one is the size of my heart, unraveled and sky scraped,
and yet remarkably blurred to initial understanding.
I toss aside propriety and sit down on the ground,
Indian style, in front of grandeur-
a mist of streaming people dissipating my vision
of the surreptitious melting clocks, oozing time
all over the floor, soaking my favorite shoes...
And so I pass the afternoon alive,
briefly breathing in the dusty air and DNA of genius.

REPLACEMENT
I champion a different philosophy of life
On a scale line of dramatic and emotional
Thought
Ranging from hate to love –
Weight dishes filled balanced evenly –
Replacement overpowers the right extreme
The love dish clatters noisily on the table
Hate is left hanging high and dry
Replaced by love
Whose presence is monumentally ponderous
The ideology remarkably simple –
Any thought residing in the suspended hate dish
Is blessedly replaced by love.

The brain is an incredibly efficient computer
Compressing trillions of bytes of information,
Registering every impression we encounter,
Analyzing concepts from formation to causation.
Compressing trillions of bytes of information
In milliseconds without hesitation, unrelentingly,
Analyzing concepts from formation to causation
Remarkably, it even functions unconsciously.
In milliseconds without hesitation, unrelentingly,
It processes the continual intake of our senses
Remarkably, it even functions unconsciously,
Outlining proposals, formulating our defenses.
It processes the continual intake of our senses,
All while regulating our involuntary responses
Outlines our proposals, formulates our defenses
Even evaluating the most complicated nuances.
All while regulating our involuntary responses
Registering every impression we encounter,
Even evaluating the most complicated nuances
The brain is an incredibly efficient computer.

Limerick
Wake up a little earlier; another troubled night
But the remnants of pre-birthday make-up still do their job remarkably
Smile for the camera; these pictures are keepers, so realistically modelled for
Thank yous for unthoughtful offerings; why hurt feelings after all?
A dozen friends all come along; it's not their scene but they want to please me
Can't look over there, have to be the last to go through the door
They're trying so hard, all their love gathering on my windowsill
Some cards handmade with heartfelt affection, gifts so vague and cliched, more
roses than I could care for
And your dusty eyes still staring through them all from behind the frame
Complete the scene as my headstone
Couldn't have slept at all
Excitedly imagining what you were planning
Warm in your jacket you gave me to sleep in
Wouldn't lift or lower my foolish head
Jitters looking forward to you
Flash could've gone off but we wouldn't notice
Shroud me with your words, promises you could not keep
All the guests combined; a less than you companion
I wonder why we couldn't make it through?
And I'd never had to say goodbye 'til the day that I met you
All that I'd got for we pushed them all out
And I didn't miss them.
Didn't miss them.
Why are you still asking after me?
How do you still reach into my eyes
Before I turn away?
What happened to let us get like this and tell me
When can it end?
How is it I want it to stay?
Though there's a soft spot for you in my heart and you're
Slowly seeping out
Frozen as this face remains
Breaking when I'm forced to recall
I'm 18 and you're not here
But she passed on your message for me
Happy Birthday.
And in those obligated words it all crashes back
I'll keep all our secrets and ignore all the rest
The world we made and left to decay
Keeps me smiling for every wasted day.

I was just a little girl, when I saw them,
The hands that blessed my heart,
With kindness, compassion and attention,
Hands that sought to protect me,
Bless me with their endless gifts, such affection.
I learned, as the years moved by me,
That those hands were ever a guide for me,
Reassuring me of the love in their touch,
Lending me the wonder of a devotion –
That inspires, soothes and never gives up.
As time gave me reasons to fear,
And my life was sometimes filled with tears,
Those hands wiped away the pain,
With concern that had nothing to gain,
Promising me that, through life, those hands…
Working hands, remarkably strong –
But just as gentle as the whisper of a song,
Coloring my life in faith, my hopes stirred,
Erasing the darkest days with assurance
That, those hands, would ever console me.
I remember those hands of love, hands,
Gesturing to the light where feeling reflects
All the beautiful, the joy, the amazing
That comes to those who appreciate the touch,
From working hands, hands who seek to support.
Those hands, working for all the right reasons,
To give to those who God has given,
The children, the family, the glorious meaning
Of a life filled with affection, adoration and praise,
That abides inside the soul who knows…
Working hands are more than just practical.
They seek to give a hope to those who may lack,
Those who believe, without seeing…
That God is the answer, the reason, the promise,
Love that never leaves – love that always agrees…
Appreciation of the love, the guidance, the prayers,
The promise of a soul who will always care,
The gentleness of a touch from hands that are aware…
even when all hope seems lost, this love – it prepares,
the heart and soul – with warmth that continues to grow,
love that moves the soul to never let go of those hands,
working hands who remind us –
when life is hard, when the struggles come…
down-to-earth gifts from loved ones who insist,
love is more than words – love is heard in hands who pray –
upturned to face the One who always makes a way!

If we don’t have enough money, we lose our dignity and independence
In our society having money makes a big difference
It can own you if you’re priorities are off
Without money so many seem lost
But it grows remarkably when we manage it cleverly
It can evaporate without a trace when we waste it foolishly
Once it’s invested wisely, you can have more of it
With a blessing like that I would do more good with it
The power of it makes many forget their values and morals
Loving money too much could lead to all kinds of evils
We need compassion for those of us in pain
We need understanding for those that are insane
Power and greed is powerful icons of modern day life
We have to trust Jesus to resist the tempestuous stresses and toil of strife
As long as I have enough to get by
I'm very happy
1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

... in the quiet moments
Love enters the arena
to no applause
yet, it is clearly seen
pushing through the ceiling
the entire world crumbles
at Love’s feet
it is a giant cyclops
one eye on everything
it is heard in the heart
felt in the mind
a contradiction
where old dreams
split at the seams
the meaning of it all
unmeasured,
deeper
than the deepest sea
you'd walk across an ocean
for Love,
a universe contained
in the playing
of a thumping organ
keeping time eternal
like a stop watch
with no pause
like there will be
no tomorrow
Love stands its
territory in wars
like a god
and its legions
then,
following conquest,
holds you firm
in its arms
under silken covers
of dark night,
Love follows
you in your dreams
you cannot see it
but somewhere
behind the everchanging
cast of characters morphing
all together, and miraculously,
like only a harmless savant could,
you sense it, in you,
hibernating then
waking live, electric,
something so complex
is remarkably
simple, common,
the breadth of a life
like a small room
implodes
the expanse
ruptures dimensions
and all angels
above and below
lose their feathers
all shining and tarnished
halos gone bedlam
in the quiet moments

Enormous gentle beast
Equals man's compassion.
Each has powerful strength,
Ears that have massive size.
Elongated nose helps
Enrich all its senses.
Earth's largest animal.

Note:
Compassion and Altruism:
Compassion is not reserved for offspring alone in elephant society. Elephants appear to make allowances for other members of their herd. Observers noted that one African herd always traveled slowly because one of its members had never recovered from a broken leg. And in another case, a park warden reported a herd that traveled slowly because one female was carrying around a dead calf.
One perplexing report was of an adult elephant making repeated attempt to help a baby rhinoceros stuck in the mud. She continued to try to save the baby rhino despite the fact that its mother charged her each time. Risking her life for the sake of an animal that is not her own, not related to her, or even her own species is remarkably altruistic in nature.
While there is a great deal more to learn about what elephants feel, such accounts are astonishing. They reveal a creature that is compassionate, weeps, revels, rages and grieves. They lead us to believe that the depth of elephant emotional capacity knows no limit. They are striking for they suggest that elephants act on feelings and not solely for survival. They are highly intelligent creatures. They are the largest land animal.

Verse
From an early age she yearned for something great
What it was she did not know, but she really couldn’t wait
For many interests she had, both large and small
Her love of animals and great friendships, she grew with them all
An insecure father who controlled all around
Was mitigated by mom until she was ground down
All added to the general confusion we experience early in life
But our values and strength of character help us with strife
That we continuously face over our time on this earth
Which produces some grit and grime that impedes our search
For that pinnacle of happiness, whatever it is
The finding for some is like taking a quiz
On subjects we don’t quite understand
With no guarantee to reach that promised of lands
Of joy, contentment, bliss, all words that describe
Whatever we believe is that ultimate ride
Her journey is similar to many of us
It’s good times and bad that cause a great fuss
Her strengths are vision and commitment to move towards a goal
Not letting “reality”, pain, or confusion take too great a toll
Understanding that it isn’t just reaching the end
But enjoying the journey and making sure you ascend
To that place of places we all want to be
Our true heart’s yearning, I think you’ll agree
For her specifically, that is to say for my wife
She’s given me all that I wanted in life
A great family including kids, dogs, cats, horses, and then some
And encouragement to go after a calling that was right under my thumb
She’s a great friend, and remarkably so
That I want her to have that additional glow
That comes from achieving her ultimate heart’s yearning
Making something out of nothing, using passion and life’s learning.

Animals remarkably deal with life and death situations.
They seem to have this unique ability to quickly move on,
and perhaps we could all learn a lesson from them.
When you get down to it, you only really have two options.
You can medically and emotionally surrender to your cancer problem,
or like an animal, you fight like hell and continue surviving.
Cancer is just a word, it isn't a sentence.
In your battle keep telling yourself this over and over again.
Never Give Up! Never Stop Fighting!
Look at cancer as your prey and not you as cancer's victim,
and before you know it you'll bring cancer to its well deserved end.
