Best Refrigerate Poems
Here at our Cafe'
We serve the best brains in the City
We only pick the freshest
The pink, the plump and pretty
We like our brains real lean
It's the healthy way to eat
So we trim off all the fat
And we cut-out all the meat
But Our recipe's a secret
You mustn't tell a soul
We use a lot of fruit
And of course veg-e-ta-bles
Then we, Chop, slice and puree
Filet, fry and boil
Dip, roll, then saute
Season, salt and oil
Cut, mince and marinate
Stuff, simmer, stew and baste
Freeze, and refrigerate
Then add more salt to taste
Bake, broil, and then roast
Steam, stir with ladle
Sear, brown, braze and toast
Then serve it to your table

How frantic
they got when
a citizen
decided to drop out!
They saw
the whole enterprise
weaken. They thought
all they worked for would
disappear in a moment,
the glue would
come loose, the nails would
pop out. It was scary,
much better to think
that the elements
in the chain were
simply securely fixed,
the atoms remained in crystal,
the ice intact.
Once lost, the citizen was nearly
impossible to restore.
They liked predictability.
That made them most happy.
And predictability
came from education.
They made the world real
by inserting it
into the brains of the young.
Those living in the real world,
our real world, they would say,
they knew
would stay.
They liked refrigeration
that drew the energy
out of the young.
They squandered their money
on the fuel to refrigerate,
keep the crystals
clean and sharp.
Stasis was the easiest
form of familiarity.

Salt it
Pepper it with kisses
Assault it (but only when bad)
Throw it at an awful actor
Throw it away if it talks back
Believe in it like God and country
Pray to it for peace
Beat it.....Fry it.....Please it...Ease it into a pan
Speak to it in English (on a dish)
Boil or spoil it at your own risk
Roll it down a hill or mountain or under a bus for luck
Haiku it like this in 5-7-5 syllabication
oval one fragile
crack the morning open sun
scramble to that end
Eat egg with toast, bacon, coffee and other friends
Toss one up for a lunar landing or farther off to Mars
Color it at Easter
Give it as a gift at Christmas
Refrigerate it when not in use
Put it in a cake with others to be baked
Souffle it if it looks French, (Never feed it to real men)
Serve it as it serves you
Put it on a shopping list to buy in 12 days
Purchase another one (They come in dozens)
Save the other 11 for a rainy day
*Authors Note: John Gray- PhD and writer says that Men are from Mars. Women are from Venus. What might he say about the egg? We may never know. It is suggested it comes from the store or from the chicken...that is, if the egg did not come first. (It is still delicious.)

My vacuum is a robot
My tumble dryer, true
They're programmed to assist
My world
And keep it ordered too
I feed my dishy-washer
My clothes go in a box
It's where the magic happens
Yet
It always eats my socks
My telly can now do things
I cannot understand
With mini robot partner here
Clamped tightly
In my hand
The toast it pops. The microwave,
It sings me out it's tune.
My loft has hidden strangers
Feeding me electricity
At noon
I guess I won't be lonely
As these friends around me toil
They clean & cook & entertain,
Refrigerate
And boil
And yet, my world feels empty
Despite this crowded space
No robot yet can substitute
For love
Or person place
We're built to be organic
So it kinda makes some sense
I like the metal critters
But
My spirit's more intense
I leave the shrouded palace
For a walk among the trees
I feel my truest presence here,
My face
Against the breeze
I stroll beside the water
So that deep from my insides
The birdsong levitates
My soul
Where humanity resides
And just as sunshine radiates
To warm my fleshy skin
The love that makes
My heartbeat
Restores me from within

I was given the challenge
Well in truth it was a bet
And the bet was to get a date
With Prudence the librarian
Whose coldness was legend
It would be a tall order
But I picked up the gauntlet
And headed to the library
I walked up to the desk
And there she stood
She was short in stature
But imposing nonetheless
Her countenance was severe
Thick chestnut hair
Pulled back off severely off her face
Her make up would best be described
As minimalist
And she peered at me
Over thick framed spectacles
She wore a chunky beige sweater
Two sizes too big which hid her shape
And a dark pleated skirt, knee length
Over thick black wool tights
And the not unattractive legs
Terminated into sensible shoes
I tried small talk
But she was not receptive
Her demeanor was positively frosty
Every enquiry she batted back to me in the negative
But despite everything
There was something about her that I liked
Something intangible
curiously she was not my type
in any way, but still there was something
So I decided to persevere
But because I wanted to
Not because I had to
So firstly I paid off on the bet
I wasn’t doing it for a stupid bet
But because of that intangible something
An itch I couldn’t scratch kind of thing
Realizing small talk would get me nowhere
I thought I would try a different tack
And converse with her on her own terms
I had to engage her intellect
So each day I would go to the library
And ask her to recommend a book
Which we could then discuss each day
And each day she thawed a little
Then I posed her questions,
History, Geography, the arts
I found her to be both knowledgeable and interesting
And I found that I was becoming interested
In the subjects we were discussing
And looked forward to our time together
As each day she thawed a little more
I wanted to have more
Than just the few precious hours at the library
But I didn’t want to undo what I had achieved
Upset the status quo
And refrigerate her again
Then at the end of one particular day
Prudence asked me
“Would you like to go for a coffee?”
I was speechless but nodded in the affirmative
Later she told me
She fell for me because I engaged her mind
And valued her for what was between her ears
And not what was between her legs
Or inside her sweater

Make one's self scarce when that cage
suddenly appears and before they
splash that sticky mess that to our
fur adheres..
Learn how to get attention when no
one seems to listen by increasing the
volume and stay persistent..
When offered unsavory courses
just let them sit and spoil,
until they make better choices or
refrigerate in foil..
Show appreciation from time to time
by rubbing on their calves with your behind..
Master opening doors with out reaching the handle.
It should be number two in this cat instruction manual.
Always keep a neat appearance.
Don't make a litter mess.
Have patience with your people and your life will be blessed.

Light Verse
Breathe in, Breathe out
Breathe in, Breathe out
When you feel stress
just control your breath
and soon you will feel
Your heart come to rest
Just breath...
Breath
The world can be
A really great place
But when you feel
It moves at a much too fast pace
Just breathe...
Breathe
Your loved ones are great
But sometimes they for get to refrigerate
Left overs spoil
You exclaim "Oh grate!"
Just breathe...
Breathe
Breathe in...
Breathe out...
Breathe in...
Breathe out

Hey! What is that room?
This?
Child nods head.
This is the teachers’ lounge.
What’s that?
Lightbulb goes off in my devious dendrite factory.
“A wonderful place for teachers.”
Can I see?
“No.”
Why not?
“You might tell.”
High interest now. Seven is intrigued. “I won’t! What you got in there?”
“You mean besides our PS4, bowling alley, and the Jacuzzi?”
His big brown child eyes pop even bigger.
“No FAIR!” he says.
In reality it is such
A drab, unappealing
place, I rarely
Put my toe in there.
It is just a place to
Refrigerate my lunch.

THE TALUS SHALL BE LOVED
PEOPLE SHALL CELEBRATE THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF
HIM WHO POSSESS THE TALUS
THEY SHALL SPEAK OF HIM AS CHAMPION
HIS WORKS SHALL MAKE OTHERS ENVY
THEY SHALL RANK THEM BENEATH HIM MIGHT THEY EARN
RESPECT THROUGH GOOD WORKS THEN MIGHT THEY
CHALLENGE HIM TO WREST AWAY THE TALUS

Respect your rocks
Who could ask for more?
Never use water
Keep them out of war
Give them sun light
Shower them with warmth
Love is what they are looking for
Refrigerate them in Summer
Talk about the weather if it matters
Dictate terms that make sense to stony elements
Watch over them as if they were your own
Pet rocks want more
Be sure to wrap them in aluminum
I'm not sure what for

Pet rocks fall on hard times
They don't commit crimes or suicide
Stones never come back once thrown
Never talk again once insulted
(Rocks hate being called stones)
Never refer to them as ore or else
They demand equality
To be viewed as gender neutral
To be treated like rocks not objects
Never as humans
They want equal pay
To be made of granite
Or something smooth like sand
Their silence is proof of that
Rocks are not persons or places
They are things not human beings
Don't discriminate
Refrigerate pets to keep them fresh
Don't get them mad or arrested
Avoid broken glass and windows
Don't ask rocks questions
They are not great thinkers but listeners
The law requires rocks to be leashed
Walked twice a week on beaches
In parks, rocks don't bark
Carry extra plastic baggies
Avoid accidents when you can
Don't smoke or get stoned around rocks
Use sound judgment dealing with solids
Rocks fall from the sky all the time
Be kind to your comets and asteroids
Love them or face retribution
Extraterrestrial objects are brutal
Some rocks are cruel. Most are not
If you give them cell phones
They never call home
Pet rocks forget where they came from
Can you blame them
Just look at their owners
