I welcomed you twenty twenty, a brand spanking new year
But all you brought with you was death, misery and fear
So I'll be glad to see the back of you and cant wait 'till you're gone
And I hope for better times in the year twenty twenty one.

You've left behind some' bad stuff' like covid nineteen
But hopefully it'll be defeated when they roll out the vaccine
Wearing masks and not seeing family, well that's been quite hard
But while you still lurk about, I won't drop my guard.

World leaders were floundering, not quick enough to act
Putting their economies before people and that is a fact
If only they'd looked at history, like the great Spanish flu
They'd have been a lot wiser and would've known what to do.

The news reported acts of kindness in every country
Like front line health workers who risked their lives for humanity
Sadly many of those brave heroes died needlessly
Because governments were too slow to provide proper P. P. E.

Viruses are nothing new and they'll come back again
We must stop destroying mother earth for financial gain
Upsetting natures balance causes these viruses to thrive
Mankind really needs to take notice if he wants to survive.

Cramming animals into cages is a pitiful sight
But mother nature is watching and is preparing to fight
Razing forests and dumping rubbish and polluting the sea
Is a recipe for disaster that'll bring untold misery.

So good riddance or go do one, many people will say
I'd remove all records of you if I had my way
People will always remember you for bringing misery and tears
And there will be much joy and relief as twenty twenty one nears.

When the clock strikes midnight, so happy I'll be
As twenty twenty sinks into the dark annals of history
But stay awake mankind and listen to the experts that know
I don't want to be the one saying "well I told you so".

Escaping Rhymed Detonation

Malevolent imploded uncontrollably,
  twisting wildly maniacal posies
   amid diabolically toasted brainstem,
angst uncompromisingly yanked tresses
  purging stinging speech patterned rhymes
 amuck iniquitous poetic verses hung
     upside down to tormentingly dry,
facing other inimically knotted borders of
  antagonistic galleries in deranged snapshots
           razing warped poetical tapestries,
tripping on tunes of whiskey rushes' savoy truffles
and greenish tangerines whilst Led Zeppelin's
Sick Again danced upon reflective ceiling tiles,
time written sideways 'round alleged autonomy
hidden furthermost immune masked mirror images,
   debauching Greek braille calligraphy's vindication
on walls of graffito scripted physicality
       calling out 'tween hysterical compulsions,
naught one heeded the sounds of synapses
about ill-fated half moon's arresting arc,
   synthetic doomsday's clocks aptly chimed
quarter to analytical cuckoo's nest repudiation,
still awaiting on serendipity to surrender
           furthermost rabbit hole's curiouser rants,
relinquishing unwell-languaged compilations' sabotage - -
      circumventing rhythmically subversive escaped detonation

Premium Member As Utopia Sleeps

We have taken all anxiety
into our dreams
cruel, unfathomable acts
lodge into our fascia, as pain

Part of a raging beast,
oozing out of control
helpless cells, imbued with a wisdom
overcome by cancerous greed.

 We chase frothy bubbles
lose concerns in selfish
pursuits-far be it from us to be
the conduit that delivers peace

Our earth
seen from a moon flight
has a fragile beauty well known to us
Its oceans are blue miracles,
clear water, pure air, be-mucked by enterprise
and murder, murder everywhere.

Cities spread un- checked, razing field and forest
Death hangs over us- the years too brief
Two and fro we leap from history to history
Blood and mayhem and un-numbered griefs.

The world, so full of trouble, as Utopia sleeps

Premium Member As Cupid Thrills

A paradise rare beckons,
cradling our shadows’ whispers
to draw fine lips upon mine…
while tickled moon peeps.

How gently wild passion blooms…
when hands caress each other
in a flame of surrender,
razing a night’s heat.

And ember’s scent lingers on
prompting rose-moon to quiver
till our eyes greet , anew
you gaze…I wink back.

Into love’s final blooming ,
we vow under hazel trees
names etched on sand, as Cupid
marks a sweetened rite!

Premium Member Gusty Winds

The storm that thundered is fading still
Reluctant to let go the reign of dark
But the nascent light behind the clouds
Unfolds the scene that's changing fast

On a happy note then she proceeds to allot
Augury of goodwill forgetting the past

And he sees things the way they used to be
Holding hands of love he finds her near him,
Not a blemish in view of his serene imagery--
Snuggling her closer, he reaches for a kiss

But gusty winds return razing his reverie
Blasting cold air on feelings of warmth
Taunting his dreams to accept the fact:
She's the one who unleashed the wrath

Premium Member Poetry Is a Life-Cherishing Force

Poetry is a life-cherishing force. For poems are not words, after all, but fires for the cold, ropes let down to the lost, something as necessary as bread in the pockets of the hungry.”
- Mary Oliver

Poetry is my flesh, blood, body, mind and soul,
My heart and its beat; skin-bone unifying whole;
In her I talk, walk, work, rest and leisurely lie;
Without her, like fish without water, I might die...!

Do I pick my tooth-brush at rising, I don't know,
My pen, as though saving sword, ever strength does show;
Feeling hungry or full, somnolent or awake,
Pulsation of poetry, like waves, in me, break...!

As impulses pull and push to-and-fro actions,
Poetry pervades reason-cum-instinct fractions;
Self-enslaving inclinations soon washed away,
Poetry, for inner warmth of freedom paves way...!

Erasing evils with poetry might be hard,
Like razing down hardest bushes of jungle-yard;
Don't yet, drops of disinfectants do some cleansing,
When rooms go messy and pathogens do fencing...?

Poetry gives strength to my weakening muscles,
My aching knee readies to fight moral-tussles;
Each step I take is an inspiring upheaval,
Toward freeing humankind from every evil...!

I rage, my need for you bleeding helpless
tied, bound by these silken ropes of love
my cries will never reach your side, my life
over the music that deafens my heartbeats
I stand mute and solo without you
till we belong to each other
even if that destroys who you are
you will only belong to our love
even if that kills us...

There is a riot in my heart exploding me apart
the burning blood of your beauty razing reason's rampart,
defenses devised by decades of destructive love
surround my soul with swords sharpened on evil known of,
I need you to breech the war barrior, to rescue my red potential
break the black bricks of the sorrow wall with a woman's wherewithal,
we will pay Fate's ransom for union legend
with unbroken breaths of lovers impassioned -

My Neighbourhood

The road to my backyard is long and straight
Evergreen trees abound and provide welcome shade
Home to myriad birds, butterflies and the bees
Last summer their branches were sawn off, without notice
The orgy with power-saws lasted barely a day
The trees shorn of foliage, the limbless torsos remained
To secure the safety of a VIP on a state visit
To a smog-laden metropolis, labouring hard to breathe

A few years back, we moved house to an oasis of green
But now, the storm of development is relentlessly closing in
Razing and levelling with electric saws and bull dozers
And a host of equipment used by modern day builders
Pile drivers mounted on rigs clump through the day
Unrelenting even at night, when the elusive foxes bay
Grieving in the darkness with plaintive howls
For a vanishing habitat where his endangered kin prowls

They have acquired fish farms and farmland
And even encroached on the protected wetlands
Which naturally dispose tons of city waste
In danger of destruction due to greed and haste
Truckloads of rubble are dumped every day
The pace is frenetic, even in sweltering May
Toiling hard for masters, who’ve deadlines to meet
And citizens to house, from whom votes they’ll seek

A haze of dust now covers construction sites
The pace doesn’t slacken here, even at nights
Construction materials arrive here daily by the truckloads
And given shape by workmen, as planned on drawing boards
What was once green cover and blue sky
Will be concrete monoliths, stretching up very high
With parking lots and asphalt streets
And billboards and neon signs, ready to be leased

No longer will fields of mustard flowers sway sinuously in spring
Nor ripe ears of golden corn bob gently in the wind
The sounds of frogs and crickets are a memory of the past
Songbirds have fled, deprived of their natural habitat
Slowly the memory of winter’s migratory birds will fade
Never again, the razed canopy of green, provide cooling shade
As I walk through my ravaged neighbourhood, I wonder why
Impotent rage pervades through me and I silently cry

Premium Member Moonflower Of Maleficent Magnificence

Ah, luminous white she blooms a deceptive ghost
lover of dark arts ripe in charisma and night
moon seducer logic diffuser defense reducer
user of dreams abuser of romance
tempter-serpent twines and vines
a tendril's slither noiseless
vanilla viper— she’s a fever teaser
damn well make you a heartbreak believer

celestial and terrestrial she’s a territorial force
spider-vein-lightning crackles across neuronal nebulae
behind your glister eyes firework-fantasies flicker
desire— a brush fire— engulfs your cerebral star fields
razing you to burn red marrow to ash...
oh you long— you long to be the phoenix on her pyre
writhing and rising again and again

you yearn to pluck her play her possess her
place her in a solitary bud vase
share your lust of ardor with hungry admiration

resist the thirst of your hands to touch
resist the airy lariat of her buttercream-spice
resist the thirst of your taste buds to baste in her taste
as honey-whines drip from her summer-wine lips
poised in parted pout to poison you

physical and ethereal she wears an imperial crown
she steals your stars and flaunts them in her eyes
dare her when she unfurls— a swan against black satin
she’ll wrestle your heart from your chest
burst it with pin-prick-pupils of scorn
save it in her cat’s paw purse for her verse—
before she mousetraps your bleats and mercy pleas
within the mantrap of her parasol pleats

leaving you alone to skin your soul
to mend the hole where your old self ends
and your new self melts into moans you now own

Morning Feeling

Bring the concept of two ship sailing
Tis the respect of our love failing
Pale in contrast, a picture painting
Heads are lost by two harts fainting
Bring romance but lust is fading
Tis the dance of baiting
This the stance of no rhythm more dating
This is my stance of no more paying
This is your stance our love failing

Tis the chance for walls are breaking
The heart in my chest, sick pains are taking
To bleed the bed of love not making
Bring the hands of our love creating
Cooked in the love of our hearts were baking
Form the land, this love not shaking
This is the stance, love was framing
This is the dance love was pacing
This is the love that kept hearts razing.

Norwester Ii

On wooded land and open water, the gale struck hard
Plucking fallen twigs and flowers and leaves and the unwary bird
Caught unawares, a family of cranes about five or six in number
Took hastily to flight from an island and were hurled across the water

Violently shaken from slumber, the trees awoke
And as they swayed in frenzy, thick branches snapped and broke
Still ignoring my instincts, I continued to walk
But the fury of the storm made me inwardly baulk

The greatest dangers posed were however man-made
They were live power lines on poles, strung overhead
And loose metal roofing of shanties rattling nearby
Poised to ride the storm, razing as they would fly

With heart pounding as the wind raged, I quickened my pace
Half blinded and with hair tousled, as the dust stung my face
I could see the rain as it approached, fast across the lake
But despite the extended canopy above, I was soon dripping wet

Whipped by the wind, the rain lashed hard
My neighbourhood was deserted, not a soul stirred
All had taken refuge – even the stray dogs and cattle
As lightning flashed and thunder cracked and windows shuddered and rattled

With wary eyes for falling debris, I walked the middle road
Fearful of lightning strikes stabbing earth like a jagged sword
In an alley, off the road, a glass pane fell and shattered
As the relentless storm raged on, reaching home was all that mattered

Liegeria

Did the government read any
of the expert and professional articles about the nation?
No! he read the truth from his bible and quran and consulted ayinlala
And would not mind the bookworms whose domain would soon
Be salted with strike and downsizing for economic growth!

Did the government hear or see
The commentary on, and documentary of the nation?
No! he heard from the rumour mongering of his caucus, cabinet
And political godfathers who are nursing manifestoes
That would restructure and make a new LIE-GE-RIA!

Did the government stay at home
To quench the fire razing down the nation?
No! he always run abroad away from the raging inferno
To seek the opinion of white house,
In order to avoid embarrassment when he seeks asylum!

Did the government open his ears and respond
To the cries of hunger, protest, disaster, bloodbath and anarchy?
No! he sits on the lap of luxury within the presidential palace
And rides out with escorts and sirens in long procession
Leading the country to its final burial!

"o Heavenly Father, the God"

O god! Why community raises:
Where are you?
Show thy supernatural powers.
Why don’t you visible to us?

I had a belief that,
No one had ever seen you.
But, I can witness you, my lord.
You’re my spirit and my hope.

Deity! Why do I undergo?
That I am born alone,
So as to I sometimes, lose faith in you.
My heart beats fast enough.

O my divinity, I honestly believe,
In my hallucinations
You will react to my queries.
I trust you, the mania I shout.

In the cosmic universe,
Whether you will come or not
I bet, you will send an angel, certainly,
To survey me and answer query

Inhabitants depict you through,
Different pictures in diverse religions.
Sorry to them, thy supremacy can be seen
In terms of thy creations

Thy grin is the moon brightening the heavens.
Thy anger is the sea waves razing the shore.
Thy help is the poor getting meals twice.
Thy sorrow is someone’s death.

My Idol! I have seen people,
At the time of need, crying and pleading.
Reply, how many devotees are here,
Who thank you for awarding happiness?

Answer nation:
If you believe in god’s creation,
You splurge huge money in front of scenic god.
Offering a lone coin to poor doesn’t consider god?

O heavenly father, once I want to add
In final, bleed me for a while in my existence.
So that the scatter sins flow from me,
To thy forgiving sea whose depth is judged by thee.
