Friend - a Gift To Self

A friend I'd like - someone like me
Fun and cheeky, full of integrity.
Gardening lover, nature attuned
of life's useless baggage pruned
perhaps also a crafter of words
Enjoying too, the flight of birds
A hawk winding a spiral on the wing
is a particularly magical thing.

So here be a quirky, crazy, active sort
Uses gift of the gab in glowing retort.
Nature guardian and explorer of seaside pools
Crafty proponent for reading the rules!

Premium Member Soul Battle

Written: October 05, 2023
___________________________________________________________

Where the paradisiacal angels reside.
A myriad of creatures, ebony and betide
A dinkum dissolute and a discreet divine,
A degree of dexterity, a denizen decline

Amidst the mahatmas and zeitgeist calls,
An indweller quests for lyricism thrall.
A martyrdom route, an incubus chase,
Eristic battles in the realm of grace

A proponent of verity, a wraith of anile,
Sought to indwell the hearts of enamel.
A sip of soma, a savor of seraglio supine,
Agnostic beyond, for the geist did shine.

Destructive metempsychosis, a mortal plight,
Internal battles, seeking inspirational light.
In the realm of the departed, desolate cries
A crybaby tears, but awe-inspiring skies

Departed souls, once heartsick and heartsore,
Find solace in the trust they restore.
For in the internal depths, a spark ignites.
And as the decedents rise, their souls bear flight.

Absolve afreets, the anxiousness abides,
Embrace the beatitude; sublimity resides.
Rawness of a sentimentalist, troubadour song,
The immanence of duende is pantywaist wrong.

In the realm of the spiritual, the snarl of sin,
Is replaced by beatitude, the soul's win.
Spotless and unsullied, cleansed of all pain,
The spiritual journey is the ultimate gain.

They sully the cosmic force with opulence.
Yet, the sunny glow of bliss starts radiance.
A troll in the netherworld, forlornness abounds,
In the cognition of theosophy, the soul rebounds.

Premium Member I Wear Many Hats

Life can be strange indeed. I, for instance wear many hats. I am a husband, a father, a grandfather, a Christian, not a Christian, a musician, a poet, an Intra faith proponent, an artist, a worship leader, a sinner, a naturalist, an evolutionist, a skeptic, a scientist, a creationist.......... etc....... .Generally, I question everything, and I happen to think that that is healthy. So, for instance, to make my point here, when I am a poet and I wish to express a concept or a string of thoughts, I can at times feel restricted by say, the Christian hat, or the scientist hat. It should, however not be that way. I should be free to express myself without constraint, should feel free, because we have freedom of speech, or do we? Do you get what I am getting at here? Any comments would be appreciated.

To add something else here, some time ago now, I was reading about Zen Buddhism, and I liked what I was reading and could identify with it. However, because in my circle of friends and acquaintances I am generally known as a Christian, I was restricted in expressing my joy and excitement about what I was reading about.

She Is An Angel

She is an Angel.

Ceraphic chants among us hum,
She has compassion for the poor,
Yes,she truly is an angel.

She experienced a "call within a call",
To serve the poor,sick,vulnerable,
She has compassion for the poor.

Vocal proponent of Albanian independence,
Mother Teresa, from a well of family sacrificed,
To serve the poor,sick,vulnerable.

Counselled other nuns to create a community of angels,
Took vows to a life of poverty, chastity, obedience,
Mother Teresa from a well of family sacrificed.

Angelic kids in innocence glow,
Mother to destitutes, needy and good to all,
Took vows to a life of poverty, chastity, obedience.

Heavenly beings are fond of her,
Ceraphic chants among us hum,
Words are droplets of honey and care,
Yes,she truly is an angel.

Growing Up the Past Runs Deep

GROWING UP THE PAST RUNS DEEP

Growing up in the village..
days before electricity arrived
when i used a kerosin lamp..
as i browsed through volumes..
volumes of literature..

Till my eyes would turn dry..
and i would feel dizzy...
for not changing my reading poster
screaming nerves accussing mi..
i stood accussed of abuse
by my own senses..

Sweet sleep would fall over me..
the novel dropping..
from mines limb hands
dreaming of strange lands..
Oh the joy of addiction..
i was hooked to good stories

Evading peers to catch up
on a book.. didnt i love escapism
negleting schoo work... now thts dumb..
negleting sports and exercises wasnt i hooked
the past is deep i spent a lot of time..
reading make believe stories

Moving to the east coast town..
after finishing forth...
i fell in love with movies
and became an enemy of the books
a great movie i watched..
robbed of my immagination

Rushing over meals
running to catch a new movie
my brother michael...
sneezing allrgies of the polluted cities..
i was missing village life..

Strange swahili culture..
christian, muslims, arabs africans
strange foreigners,, i have this-
against them most of them didnt seem
to love clothes.. yet the others
covered to their eyes..

Mwadhini calling the faithful to prayer
christians holding week long crusades..
here the battle was for souls
or was it the offerings
strange swahili culture..
drinking strange palm wine..
such was the life at the coast

New friends trying to revert me to islam..
elders remmindim me not to forfeit..
the wisdom of our people..
borrowed clothes dont fit well..
and customs and traditions..
are the mirror of society..

No where were my beliefs challenged more..
they called me almukafirun...
i retaliated youre a zailim..
didnt we love the enlightening debate
softening of stands..
proponent and opponent reached common ground...

The bond of friendship and culture
breakin down- them
cultural religios barriers
friends and gal friends from all religions
people at the coast are very freindly
and salaams greetings a way of life..

Stories of jinn and black majic
we knew not to give much-
credence.. there of the disbelivers
we believed in the onness of the supreme..
debated on tenacles of faith..
for the bond of love runs deep
and the past is deep..

Ode To the Blessed Rebekah

On Mother's Day.
That Sabbath Day, I put flame to eight candles and knelt down to pray.

I humble myself with fasting to intensify my communication with God who is our all and all.
During that spiritual and very significant time of the morning, I gave our powerful Heavenly Father a call.

So much of the misery of life is in me and I have the weight of my daughter's physical and mental health tormenting my mind.
On that golden day, I was filled with the confidence that God will put someone in our path at the right time.

God is the lamp in my darkness.
God is my consoler during my torment and the booster of calmness.

Previously we were in a meltdown dealing with many healthcare providers with high costs and impassive procedures.
They were unimpressive, obtuse, and unrefined sloths to work at their own leisure.

It was in God's measurement of existence and his most magnificent grace that he sent a radiant helianthus.
It was a transcendental rush.

She entered our home with a wide smile and a sanguine temperament.
She had a stalwart faith in getting things started right away with plans and proficient decisions that she wanted to implement.

Her objective was to provide my daughter with the best comprehensive and viable care plan.
She restored our faith and we became a fan.

She was full of wisdom, yet she was a proponent of sensibility.
She was polished by the grace of God with compassion and empathy.

Like the nature of a helianthus, she would never fold because God is her sun and shield.
In her mien, it is greatly revealed.

When her task is done and it is time for her to say goodbye.
We will miss her, but we will give her a brave smile and sigh.
I will thank our Heavenly Father as I looked to the sky.

If someone would ask, how was she as a provider, we are truly in need, so please tell us.
I will simply say, she is not a weed, but a blessed and beautiful helianthus.

Flowering In the Showers

flowers, flowers, flowers;

marigold flowers, jasmine flowers,
rose flowers, bougainvillea flowers,
carnation flowers, petunias flowers;
dark flowers, bright flowers,
flowers of dignity, flowers of vulgarity,
flowers in opponent, flowers in proponent.
red, white, blue, yellow, black, green flowers:
fragranced flowers, fungus flowers,
poisonous flowers, scented flowers,
strong flowers, wrong flowers;
flowers scanty, flowers plenty.

all these flowers flower in the showers
the showers shower their blessing on all the flowers
the showers do not segregate
the showers must never segregate
all the flowers must flower in the showers.

An Open Debate, Bolehland Awaits

An Open Debate, We Await...

Hohoho.....

Someone is so full of himself and sounded so arrogant...
So full of self importance to come across as belligerent...

Issuing an open challenge for a public debate any time and place in Bolehland...
That brave but brash man is now caught like a deer in a car's headlights in No Man's land...

His open challenge is now officially accepted by a small party's president....
Whose party has unobtrusively accepted the challenge on 29November...

Albeit a political party small in numbers but with a gutsy lady president ....
Who accepted the open challenge and now pursues it too its desired conclusion....

The ignominy of which the proponent surely grasps and understands...
The acceptance for a much desired and publicised political debate...

Comes across in black and white, well phrased and with a glaring caveat...
The proponent is not to withdraw or to cook up excuses of any kind..
To escape his obligations for an open debate he so brashly publicised...

The proof of the pudding or pie is in the eating...
Bolehland awaits if this man has what it takes...

To an open debate on rights and privileges of Sarawak and Sabah...
In the 1963 formation of Bolehland as a free nation...

Hohoho....

Simply put, the question remains, got balls or not.....
Or was it all just a dare me on, just a political talk....

As in the acronym NATO, No Action Talk Only....
A prevalent norm of operations from the ruling party...

Hohoho....

Wistful Woebegone Yesteryear

Perhaps like a lightning

Premium Member Dance of Lunar Festivals

rushes now the spill of feet
a lunar festival right nto moonlight
skirts flaring, hats flipping
as silhouettes swagger with desire
bosoms advancing retracting
against tunes from guitars and tambourine

slay this fiesta with quickening of heels
an extravaganza which shrieks
in the thrill of music
refined by the ecstasy reeled by
tiptoes midway...the exchanges
arm for arm as ladies and men
seal a choreography made only
to.last on this evening, lusty and divine!

???? ?+?3??'??
 take me to primitive times
when after bouquets and incense spray the air,
a dance unknowing rigid choreography
pulsates to inner throbs of my body
soaking the nectar of soil beneath my feet,
then to dive among flickers of heat, to drape
a world circling far across stars without
glass nor walls... till all but percussion tempos
inhale the floats inside my lungs, my flesh.
Arms open all cages of birds winging
past trees, hips shedding butterfly threads
floating on sounds of grass waves and
stone kneads ...

how wild, how tender
and unrestrained my child’s spirit.

Somewhere, Prapto whispers, “listen
to heart’s movement; break your head”,
till my whole body connects to the fragrance
of my inner breath, spicy and pungent...
like an odyssey of primitive spins
known only by my soul willing
for a movement... the invisible cloth of dance.

Premium Member What I Know For Sure

I am a self-confident sort of person
Very aware of what I know for sure,
A strong proponent of truth-telling
Separating out the obvious manure.

Considering various points of view
Trying to arrive at fair conclusions,
I am willing to debate with anyone
Oft coming away with contusions.

I really don’t care for know-it-alls
Who think they have all the answers,
Contradicting to foment an argument
To me, they’re like noisy cancers.

I’ve learned it is better to listen
And learn from those who know
Than to speak up and be wrong,
And let my gross ignorance show.

If I’m quiet, I’m listening to you
I’m interested in the facts you lay out,
And I’m soaking up new information
So, the next time I’ll have my spout.

Premium Member Life On Pause

Some days do not go quite the way that you planned;
surprises will often fall right in your lap.
Today, such a day, but all ended quite grand;
inflexible schedules can become a trap.

So did I leave chores on the table undone?
They’ll be there tomorrow; of this I am sure.
My son-in-law and I both worked and had fun;
the rain’s coming soon, but the gutter’s secure.

Plus, as a bonus, I saw all the mayhem,
like Greer getting undressed to race through the yard.
A stray and the watchdog, just hanging out, playin’;
you don’t get much done when you’re laughing so hard.

Although of plans, I’m a general proponent,
life can be sweet when you live in the moment.

Premium Member On Reparations

Can we ever truly right the wrongs of the past?
Seems to me what was done cannot be undone,
And I am not a proponent of crippling remorse
So, let’s just face facts, as they were, and resolve
To learn from our mistakes, moving steadily on.
Must we pay the price for our ancestors’ follies,
Recalling that reparations will never be enough?
After all, we cannot reach those who were hurt,
We cannot undo their terrible pain and suffering.
I am convinced we must not reward poor excuses
Who wallow in unnecessary self-pity over time,
But reward those who rise above their travesties
Working toward equal rights and responsibilities
For the civil betterment of our inclusive society.

Glittering Generalities

GLITTERING GENERALITIES

I vow that you will be happily effected
If I am elected by your selection
At the forthcoming election.
With great dedication
I shall diligently bother
To uphold the glory of this great nation
Founded by our forefathers!
National debt,
Is dragging us under,
Forlornly unmet,
Tearing us asunder!
I shall keep economy healthy
By reducing taxes on the wealthy,
And allowing banks to freely operate
With no control of interest rates.
I shall supply for those who behave
Complete care, cradle to the grave.
Increased medical care for the elderly,
Even youth, rash and pimply.
Our democracy will be securely laid
In backward nations
By increasing foreign aid,
And greater exportation.
I’m a strong proponent of women’s rights.
Against abortion I will continue to fight.
We’ll peacefully solve disputes
By fair judiciary
And dig out their roots
By increased military.
So, as you can see
As I’ve said repeatedly,
It is my intention
To reduce government intervention,
So that we can get
Out of our national debt.
