Best Place Your Bets Poems

Rated R

The movie sounds intriguing;
R’s the letter it’s been rated.
The reasons for the rating
On the ads are clearly stated.

The first one that is mentioned,
Not surprisingly, is sex,
Which, in cinema for grown-ups
Is what everyone expects.

The second reason’s murder.
Certain viewers seem to mind
Any violence on screen; this one
They’d likely have declined.

The final rating rationale
Surprised me – place your bets!
If sex and murder didn’t scare you,
There are cigarettes!

Just Words

I dominate the mic like a Viking
Stand strong like a champion
So come and place your bets
On this mic veteran
The kid is in to win again
I'm turning u wick mc's into has beens
I'm speaking about them dudes who front on Hip Hop
Dudes like that should be
Stopped, Dropped and Popped
In their tracks
Like a rat in a nap sack
I'll break'em all down
And break their freaking necks
I have no love for a nigga
Who fakes the funk
Talking that gangsta
But his life like punk
Now c'mon dawg its got to be a better way
If u Ain't true to this game then u shouldn't play
Me myself I represent Hip Hop
Suckers want to step up
I bet your bottom your going get your boots knocked
But L, the mighty L
Nigga I'm the truth
Can't u sucker tell
I see fit to get rip and flip the script and kick some ish
To make your head trip
No, No, No
I'll never quite when it comes to a hit nigga
And if U want to battle
It's going to be some ish nigga
That's unfit when you’re dealing with a misfit
Because once you slip your going to get your azz wipe
Like Reginald Denny
get tossed like a penny
The name is Nsideout aka Linnie
I'm a terminator
Terminating u punk MC's
Exterminator
Wiping out u niggas with ease
Eliminate
Put 'em out their misery
Niggas want front or purp a stunt you'll catch a couple of these.

So I say all of that to say this
I'm not a thug or a gangster
But I'm a lyrical genius
So don't believe the hype
IT'S JUST WORDS!

Over Analyzing

Love is a dangerous game
kinda like Russian roulette
the balls in your court
place your bets
put it all on black
nothing is promised
no one is honest
completely
everyone hurts
sometimes the ones
we love the most
hurt us repeatedly
that's truthfully speaking

If you love it go get it
if it's broke go fix it
pride and ego
create spite & bitterness
don't make decisions
when ya emotions are high
true love doesn't last unless
you give it a try
ups & downs
that's apart of the game
like a two dollar bill
some things never change
change ya outlook on life
and that man might
change ya name
and make you his wife
it's a roll of the dice
it all depends
on the come out
trust your instincts
over analyzing causes doubts

Premium Member I'D Bet On You Again

First time I saw her I didn't know
If I'd seen an angel or if, I'd seen a ghost
Just could not believe that she was real
I'd never felt the way she made me feel
.
And her eyes looked at me
In a way I'd never seen
That said "boy it's a gamble, but you can place your bets on me."
And no matter where we go
Or no matter where we've been
When I look into your eyes
I'd bet on you again
.
And we've been down some hard roads
And felt all alone
I've put her thru hell
But you'd never know
And I've pushed her away
When God knows I've needed her most
.
And I don't deserve her
Sure as hell didn't earn her
Now we're growing old
And I just can't believe
That gamble I took so long ago
Sure paid off for me!
.
And her eyes looked at me
In a way I'd never seen
That said "boy it's a gamble, but you can place your bets on me."
And no matter where we go
Or no matter where we've been
When I look into your eyes
I'd bet on you again
.
Sometimes late at night when the darkness sets in
All I can sense is the fear in my head
I reach out to her she's still there
Where she's always been
My angel my woman my lover . . .
My best friend
.
And her eyes looked at me
In a way I'd never seen
That said "boy it's a gamble, but you can place your bets on me."
And no matter where we go
Or no matter where we've been
When I look into your eyes
I'd bet on you again
My angel my woman my lover . . .
My best friend

The Rag Trade

"Headline news! The rag trade is torn to pieces!
Dolls are strewn across the streets with skirts lifted high.
Headline news! Markets are buzzing with voracious bees;
Stinging for honey, for money to burn. Sly.

May I escort you sir to higher gains? Just feed the slot
Machine coffers with offers of fine dining and lustful desires.
Become bloated and coated, botched and scotched
And drink embers mellow as you repast by the fire!

Suits you sir! That suit should fake them and shake them,
For you look a right toff and in those two tone brogues
None can guess and think anything less of you and your suit
That is pin striped and blue. Welcome to 'Cafe Rogues'.

Are you a gambler sir? Do you place your bets well?
Do you prefer evens or odds or don't you give a sod?
There are no consciences here sir! We'll take your money
And spend it on honey and fine clothes by God!

Paper!paper! Read all about it, headline news!
Dolls are found in alleyways torn to shreds!
Escorts are fattened calves ready for the slaughter!
Suited toff is found dying in Savile Row gutter!

Gambling money spinner wins. Camera closes the shutter.

Premium Member The Great Ejection of 2021

Welcome to America, the land of reality TV
We have pixie dust and unicorns and the dreaded killer bees
The epic climax of 2020 has now reached its end
But here comes 2021, hold my beer dear friend

The new year will start with a mighty midweek hump
Stay tuned for the great ejection of Donald J. Trump
Will this man concede and leave the White House in one piece?
Will he have a temper tantrum or try to hide with his magic fleece?

We’re in the lull before the storm, it’s time to reload and take a break
Did Joe Biden actually win or will the Donald just call it fake?
Will he return in four more years or realize his time here is done?
Will he hold up in his ivory towers or just pack his bags and run?

This country is in a mess, so place your bets and roll your dice
We’ve had four years of snake eyes and many thinking we’re not that nice
Our land has many hitch hikers and our skies are full of thumbs.
They are not all criminals and losers and not all worthless bums

-ness

Giddy laughter the monitor is going
To sleep heart of Christian pagan
Death-bed fire burning out
The window light Rome crumbling
Ashes dust another country attention
No exceptions every student must log
In the universe is on all sides in a straight
Line birth life death
Fornicators fenced in seas
In Russian winter ice quiet
Report on the meanings of
Stories deadlines madness
Is confident and loves its moth
-er who is dancing violently in
The light burning eyes staring
At flashing screens selling plastic
Chips place your bets double blind
-s folded the notes sit in a hundred
Years of smog melting grapes under
Trees preaching law meteors dancing
Fires reaching hands in caves spread
-ing blood words wince still

A River Boat Gambler

With wit and wisdom and a cunning eye...
At the gaming table Naomi goes on a natural high.

She mulls the odds and places her bet...
And she's never been a loser yet.

With nerves of steel and a will to win...
And a reputation she's eager to defend.

A River Boat gambler is the life for her...
And those who know her all concur.

She sits at the table with emotions of steel...
And if there is to be a winner, she will.

So place your bets and enjoy the scene...
Because when Naomi is gambling she's cunning and mean.

Life

You're hoping for something
That'll bring you around
Better than the nothing
You've already found

Not sure you know this
But I've news for you
Life is a meadow
You go running through

Of the world and its promises
You've had your fill
Don't believe a word that they say
And you never will

You may taste the sweet freedom
And still be deeply in debt
But life is a gamble
So you best place your bets

A cause for relief
Always comes into light
And you need to let
Your little one shine

Here's a little something
A secret that's kept
Life is a pool
We all do laps in

You brain storm when you can
To be let off the hook
With the line still attached
You'd toss it back if you could

You may not believe
But take a look at the facts
Life is a fast train
Rolling on rusty tracks

It's mind over matter
But what really matters to you
Is not what you've done
But what you're going through

The reason being
You're most times out to lunch
Life is a menu
We order off of

It's not a piece of cake
But where's your piece of the pie
The truth in the knowledge
Is hidden deep in the lie

Though you try your best
There still is regret
Life is a fastball
Try and catch it if you can

Travail

TRAVAIL

place your bets then roll dice twice
test the tale of death and life
call forth a need for God
plains of trust not doubt
pray tell us please
as it is
fill my

needs…

where that
sad heart bleeds
like stale sick jokes
that form the march
to raise pure white flags
in time like dark dire rhyme
lift me out of my own ways
up to the light that plays my soul

Premium Member the game is on

Show a little finesse, place a bet.
You’re just in time for the game, get some skin, the fix is in.

What’s more American than cashing in?
The real winners do, and now that could be you.

With suckers out there waiting, scamming is as easy as creating
an NFT, bitcoin, an online bet or a romance baiting.

You’ll be a witness, as the wise guys step in, for the NFL it’s a win-win
You get the excitement you need and the real playas get the proceeds.

Come on, Mr slick ricky, you know you’ve got to be bold to win gold
winners double-down, they never fold—the thrill never gets old.

The winners will add your measly bucks to their pot.
Let's admit, all you’ve got, isn’t a lot - it wouldn’t, say, fuel a yacht.

So, step up, place your bets, you’re in the digital front row all the time,
don’t be lame, be part of the game, it’s greasy, sleazy, organized crime.

A song for this:
Vicious Games by Yello
The Game of Love (feat. Michelle Branch) [Main/Radio Mix] by Santana
.
.
I LOVE NFL football, but now every commercial is for some sports book like “Draft Kings.”
How can the NFL, increasingly in league with gambling books, not end mobbed-up and fixed?
It’s ruining NFL football - the illusion that it’s a real sporting competition.
Once they start calling the NFL “entertainment” and not sports - it’s over.
The game I grew up loving will be like pro wrestling.

The Duality of Man

The Duality of Man

Black and blue.
False or true.
Heaven or Hell?
Me or you?
Life or death?
Loud or mute.
Do we keep our eyes closed?
Or do we see a way through?

Hot or cold?
Tea or chocolate?
Coca Cola = Subconscious adverts.
Roll the dice and place your bets!
Be alone all the time,
Or name a pet.

Do what you like,
Or what you are told.
Do you love Him? Or Her?
Decide before you are too old.
Be one of the common people,
Or break the mold.
Make your own choices.
Do you stay or do you go?

Work for the state (of mind), if you have the time.
Remain independent, or change your mind.
The NHS is the best!
You could choose private.
Pick up a gun or a pen…
Grow up or remain a kid.

Life is about choices, so I choose life.
Life is too short to be worrying about time.
Reinvent yourself as many times as you like.
With every day there is a new age,
So why not smile,
Instead of cry.

For a Little While

I was a catcher
"for a little while"
I did alright
The whole story
is "for a little while"
   as day become night
I have been a loyal fan
of the NY Mets
So place your bets
As last season they held first base
"for a little while"
Things are not always what they seem to be
Often they are not
As the NY fans fill the stands
Hoping for the best
from their favorite team
Too many innings full of zeros
So put out your popcorn
and your beer
For the Metropolitans are here !
Only "for a little while"
And a home game will make us smile
