Dry Facts Can Perform Juicy Acts

Dry Facts Can Perform Juicy Acts

In the EFL community
all around the world
it’s an undeniable
and unpleasant reality that
no matter how well-motivated
you and your students are
no matter how real and acute
the need for learning
a language may be
no matter how well-equipped
the language center is
no matter how well-trained
your instructors might be
still, teaching a language
as a foreign tongue
in a foreign country
in a classroom environment
within four walls
is an artificial endeavor,
pure and simple.

Moreover, the minute the students
step out of the classroom
the little language environment
created in the room
is left behind,
lost and forgotten
until the next class.

Minds boggle at how lively,
how attractive,
how delightful and entertaining,
how effective and powerful
languages can be
at the hands of skillful comedians,
orators, actors, poets and authors
while they all become
utter bores, dry and irrelevant,
with chalk-and-talk-addicted
unimaginative, ordinary instructors
in the language classrooms.

Though language itself is dry
and teaching it mostly boring
the way you introduce it
may engage even the cynical students
if only you yourself believe
that teaching is acting.

Instructors must act
to attract and impact
never mind if students
react without tact
each act will surely get
a few shells cracked
“teaching is the art of changing the brain”
that’s a well-known
neurological fact.

Acting will deliver
student participation
a recipe for motivation
a remedy for alienation.

The target is communication
and retention, not full accuracy
nor perfection, and, please,
leave aside incessant correction,
which definitely leads to
disenchantment and rejection.

Value student participation
and production
encourage interaction
feed vocabulary in collocation
grammar, like medicine,
in the right dosage and proportion
and for God’s sake,
keep your chalk-and-talk
at a minimum fraction.

Remember, an ELT instructor is
a confidence booster
not an error-seeker
or hand-pecking rooster.

Who said ELT was
an educational roller coaster?
Nope. It’s more like a bread toaster,
which takes care of all on the roster.

He Will Perform It

He Will Perform It
(Hourglass)

On His word you sure can rely
God said that He will perform it
It is up to us to apply
For His promises are legit

He spoke it-it will come to pass
By faith we believe what it say
We know His word will always last
We commit to read day by day

We receive His Promises too
He is a God that does not lie
The Lord will give to us what’s due
His children He will not deny

His children He will not deny
The Lord will give to us what’s due
He is a God that does not lie
We receive His Promises too

We commit to read day by day
We know His word will always last
By faith we believe what it say
He spoke it-it will come to pass

For His promises are legit
It is up to us to apply
God said that He will perform it
On His word you sure can rely

*Jeremiah 1:12
12 Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.

Life is a journey brief, a wondrous piece of art,
Let us treasure every breath and perform our part.

Perform

You never know what may happen
What may fall and what may risen
What may come your way?
And what may go out of your way
With in a moment things can change
Though everything was in your range
You never realized and purchased everything
Even though you needed few for surviving
You thought you are right and caring
No thankfulness and no duties performing
No praying no spending on causes
Worried over a few of the losses
Though life’s gains brought up smiles
To succeed in life you traveled miles
What if death comes and you are dead
Everything you acquired will all be left

Perform a U - Turn

It should be really easy
To get to Grantham right on time
Unless, that is, your Sat Nav
Is as troublesome as mine

I have the postcode ready
And I’m sure I’ve got it right
But my Sat Nav seems to be convinced
It’s on The Isle of Wight!

Now I quite like the main roads
Seeing signs along the way
But my Sat Nav has a cunning plan
To get me there today

It wants for some strange reason
To have a different point of view
To take me on the scenic route
Where there’s no traffic queue

Now I don’t like a line of cars
Through miles of motorway
Though it’s better than the pot holed roads
My Sat Nav thinks I might prefer today

I decided to ignore it
When 50 miles had gone
Big mistake on my part
Cos I’d left the dammed thing on

“Where do you think you’re going?”
It’s tinny voice did say
“You must perform a U Turn”
“Or I’ll find a different way”

I don’t listen to it blindly
And now I’ve got myself a map
So I can get to Grantham
In time to take a nap

Born To Perform Michael J.

Born to perform he could be heard,
In extravagant places, some corner absurd.
His peculiar style then, not the norm,
With the passage of years, world music reform.
From the age of five keeping hearts alive,
Doing their dance steps or some old fashioned jive.
He soared to heights, eagles fear to fly,
Even in death we’ll still hear his cry.
The stage off course he set on fire,
With a stupendous performance,
Every musicians desire.
Memories of him will never fade,
For his music I’ m sure, forever’ll be played.

Listen: The Lyrical Lilt
that lilac
and lavender
lend to our language,
like leased luggage purposefully lost,
unrolls from lifted
tongue
to level the valley
and shallow
the depths of the gorge.

            *   *   *

A full closet of linens,
I oftentimes find
the beach in symphony;
the hour arching shoreline a stable bow
whose melody is fizz of the ocean.

It is there, beneath a balcony of velvet celebrity,
the sand receives the water,
bends at the lunar altar,
and acknowledges a driftwood cloud.

            *   *   *

There is a weed of sadness woven
through untilled soil
in this garden of thorns kept far from their rose,

where, still, I cannot help
but to tap my feet to the hum of this ancient rhythm,
anxious for movements left uncomposed,
my ear tightly pressed to a frail pink shell,
swelling in ghostly lullaby.

Perform To Raise a Storm

Perform To Raise A Storm

While outside it was raining and warm,
Inside another act I did try to perform;
Not sure of part;
Horse before cart;
Had been controversial causing a storm.

Premium Member My God, Thank You For Enabling Me To Perform My Vow

February 1 Scripture Meditations Based on Numbers 15-18

Key Verse – Numbers 15:3 And will make an offering by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, or a sacrifice in performing a vow, or in a freewill offering, or in your solemn feasts, to make a sweet savour unto the LORD, of the herd, or of the flock.

MY GOD, THANK YOU FOR ENABLING ME TO PERFORM MY VOW

Thank You for enabling me to perform my vow unto You willingly
By Your command that directs me to sacrifice unto You personally…
My all is Yours; for You, dedicated devotedly---
Please accept me with my oblation, offered to You thankfully.

Thank You for enabling me to perform my vow unto You wisely
By Your truth that teaches me to seek You and Your kingdom firstly…
My desire is to prioritize You daily---
Please guide me to learn from You purposefully.

Thank You for enabling me to perform my vow unto You watchfully
By Your vision that enlightens me to choose Your will constantly…
My delight is to stay close with You blissfully---
Please enclose me within Your heart ceaselessly.

Thank You for enabling me to perform my vow unto You worthily
By Your holiness that purges me from sins immaculately…
My goal is to live for You righteously---
Please transform me toward Christ-likeness I beg earnestly.

Thank You for enabling me to perform my vow unto You worshipfully
By Your glory that welcomes me to praise You honourably…
My aim is to please You by faith acceptably---
Please correct me of my bad motives by Your compassion peacefully.

Thank You for enabling me to perform my vow unto You wholly
By Your strength that moves me to serve You gratefully…
My decision is to continue in Your work persistently---
Please keep me paying attention to Your presence faithfully.

Perform Some Sexual Sin

Perform Some Sexual Sin

Remember time we took a trip to Morocco,
And had stopped by there for terrific taco;
After that into time we took very long leap,
To see willow who always wanted to weep.

The next day we zipped over to zany zoo,
To see such a gorgeous, good looking gnu,
Sometime later only seeming a short while,
Saw smile from some cute scaled crocodile.

Revived vibrant memory of vagrant Venetian,
Who performed part in play called Phoenician;
Remembered someone performing sexual sin;
Ended up being President living in Washington.

Perform Incision

the sky
rooftops, looking in-
lie- peripheralvision
potential for abuse
edges of anger perform
incision
disowned in likes of
the norm, the
lapping tongue of electric
storm.

Desire To Perform

I want to write
To bleed the whole of myself out into this void
To push the pen across this paper until ink fills the cracks of my calloused fingers
To be complete again

Knowledge Makes

Knowledge makes us a great scholar,
be it any sphere of any colour.
