Premium Member I Took the Time To Study Him

I see him flinch and I figure out his next move
Because I have studied him, and now have the ability to persuade.
We dance the dance, but both know I may win
For I took the time to understand him, and study him
And in his rush to share his prowess with me,
He neglected to learn anything about me at all.

His flinch is gone quickly, but not quickly enough.
We both know the battle is over because I took the time
and made him comfortable, and earned his trust, and learned him
Whereas he knows not his opponent and has no clear direction.
I smile, not a smile of encouragement,
a smile of victory.

This he recognizes….

The Opponent

"The Opponent"

Something familiar
breezes across
the smile

you balk
at the familiarity
for a very short while

the opponent
opens your windows
stealth like on pause

softly
sensuously
like a cat

for a split
second
violation recognised

and blithely
dismissed as
ridiculousness

yet like an
unwelcome intruder
slides the door open

en garde
lethal
messages

despatched
and plundered
sliced, and red

the comeback
cleanly
murdered

Next Opponent

What am I doing here
Just going through the motions
I think everything will be ok, that I’ll be ok
Then I get sucker punched
With an emotional blow to the gut
Can’t take much more of this beating
I’m bleeding
Feeding off others who are needing.
How can they help me if they can’t help themselves?
How can I help them if I cant help myself?
It’s a see saw effect
Up down up down up down
Now what?
Where do we go from here?
Is there even a purpose to this ride?
I just want to hide
Im empty inside
Now that my dreams and death collide
What am I doing here
 just going through the motions
cant find the purpose in this
I’m pissed
I put up my fists
But my opponent laughs at me
Taunts me with the truth
That my future has kissed
me goodbye
I wanna cry
Curl up in a ball and die
And I’ve got 10 more rounds of this abuse
So whats the use?
This fight is just an excuse
not to try.
At least that’s what they say.
I pray for the bell to ring to end this round
As I lay lifeless on the ground
Your fists pound
One… two… three…ten!
You’re out,
The uncaring shout…
Fights over

Opponent

A sharp, nifty sword and blade, looked as if it was carefully made
Thick, pointy, silver and shiny, brimmed to not look that tiny
Only delicate hands can not handle it good, a remark that the sword finds rude

When picked and raised to the air, the blade finds an opponent that seems quite fair
The opponent, eyes timid like a snake, made the blade feel this was a bad sake
The other swords handler showed a nasty grin, looking glum, thin and raspy

His mouth shut, resembling the appearance of a grown up mutt
His teeth not shown, otherwise bundles of leaking foam would appear, along with his disgusting sneer
The sword and blade, handled by his master, found no pleasure in making a fight, he just wanted things to go more faster

Fear Is the Only True Opponent

Fear is life's only true opponent
Fear is a clever treacherous adversary
It is known throughout history
It has no decency
It respects no law or society
And above all, it shows no mercy!
It searches for the weakest spot
It finds it quickly and then it
Puts your life in a knot

Fear begins in the mind and
Makes you blind to the power of your destiny
Fear disguises itself in doubt and
This gives way to the avenue of disbelief

Fear brings a level of anxiety
As your emotion starts to weaken
Soon you forget that there is a beacon of hope
You think you cannot cope but
In reality, you are stronger than any storm
As an individual of time, the heart must
Reach its prime against all odds!
The sun sets as evening approaches but
Nothing can stop the sun from rising in the morning
And even though fear is life’s only true opponent
Hope is ever present and hope shines in the darkness

Where Is My Opponent

By now the storm on the lake had ceased
My small boat had started moving slowly after the blow
To the far east, I looked at the sun and it smiled
I couldnt help, but just smile and give back my whole

I was born seventeen years ago
And until now, I have endured a lot of trouble
Some of them cause me to stumble
But mama always tell me to get easy and blow my gum into a bubble

Ma, is that the life you told me was going to be nice
You told me it was going to be a bit difficult and you gave me advice
I listened but I see life is not a bit difficult
But it is wholly difficult
Because Im here not to enjoy, of my life, even a minute
Day in day out I find myself in prison as a culprit
Where am I wrong, ma told me I was right
That is if I was ready to fight

Mother told me to turn my life into a battleground
She told me to have a speed more than that of a greyhound
And I got myself armed
I took my helicopter, but it proved useless
Then I got into a boat and with my enemy I came face to face
But the wind seems like its not even tolerant
It's sending nasty waves against my boat
Is that what you call nature?

Disturbed me, it had from midnight
Until the sun came, smiled at me, ceasing the fight.
Where is my enemy, I need to fight him
Because mum told me I must fight with 'victory' being the theme
I cant see life no more
And I can fight no more.

Overmatch the Opponent

J-ust overmatch the opponent,
O-vercome the cruel covid;
M-itigate the adversary,
A-bate the enemy so
R-abid.

M-ightily overmatch the opponent,
E-liminate the formidable foe;
J-eopardy of being infected,
I-s causing worry and woe.
L-et your health and wellness win,
L-ose not the fight in torment;
A-lleviate the morbid menace,
N-icely overmatch the
O-pponent.

Strong Opponents To Beat

Strong opponents to beat,
A dozen of them, at the very least;
Their profiles on ‘Great Champions’ Sheet,
Each claimant to some dreary feat,
One of them, you dare not even greet,
Because he could you still make a mincemeat,
If he a chance picked and it was damned neat!
Out of your body squeeze clammy heat
And a ravaged one toss into a field of wheat.

Premium Member Mean Opponent

He stood there looking at me.

I knew his eyes were fixed.

Slowly approaching me, I didn't feel ready to see his tricks.

He was somewhat angry, I could tell by his growl and stare.

We were matched in size but he had something else in his look, like he had passed the point of care.

I decided to back off slowly.

Considered steps I took.

Not taking his eyes off me

He watched the path I took.

At safe distance I slowly turned and heard him call my name.

This cat fight was not worth it, his intent was to kill should we clash and fight.

That is one mean, tough tomcat and I don't need this stress tonight.

Killer Opponent

K-iller opponent in silence
A-ttacks the humankind;
T-he threat of hazardous horror
H-asn't been far behind.
L-et the killer opponent
E-vaporate into oblivion;
E-rase the onerous outbreak,
N-egate the crowned contagion.

S-anitize your both hands,

E-liminate the dreaded dirt,
S-top the killer
O-pponent.
