I Took the Time To Study Him

I see him flinch and I figure out his next move
Because I have studied him, and now have the ability to persuade.
We dance the dance, but both know I may win
For I took the time to understand him, and study him
And in his rush to share his prowess with me,
He neglected to learn anything about me at all.

His flinch is gone quickly, but not quickly enough.
We both know the battle is over because I took the time
and made him comfortable, and earned his trust, and learned him
Whereas he knows not his opponent and has no clear direction.
I smile, not a smile of encouragement,
a smile of victory.

This he recognizes….

Almost everything I do is based on SOME form of my reality. Snicker. Snicker. This was actually based on a photo prompt for a poetry contest on a different site.

I do appear to, don't I? Sometimes as I sit and listen to people tell me everything about themselves I do wonder "do they really KNOW what they are doing?"

In immense and usual style, you got the moment across to reader - wham!... Like you're playing pool 8 ball, snooker (for US language)! Cool tiny tale.

Thank you so much Sigrid. I like to try to have a bit of a punchline. It makes me feel clever.
