Premium Member I Needed Wings Today

To my Poetry Soup friends - this was written as a thank
you note for all of your beautiful, uplifting gifts of poetry
and comments. Your words can mean the difference
between a dark day and a light day ~ thank you all

The walls were closing in last night
 my covers felt like straitjackets
 the darkness crushing fragile hope
I needed wings to soar away.

I rose to find your poem here
it spoke of dreams and butterflies,
of wind and whispers filling sails -
my soul rose with the sun.

A dreaded phone call. Plans today
 are torn asunder, raining grief,
the colors I once knew are black -
I need new eyes to see again.

You write of sorrow, yet your tone
is one of dawn and singing birds
and spring's growth resurrecting hope -
 my faith in God restored.

An empty home awaits me now
the air is flat. No tune is sung
to open windows of the heart
and let the summer sing its song.

You write of sunsets in their poise
 while kissing the horizon slow
I read this and my wounds are healed-
 your poem gives me wings.

Your words inspire, this much I know
they open curtains, let in sun,
bring music to the quiet space
they speak of faith in things unseen.

You turn my thoughts from dying leaves
to robins singing from their nests -
I thank you, friend, for all your words,
 I needed wings today.

                                       When violet flames burn
                                             on dried leaves
                                      Sweetness fills my throat
                                          Whispers of longing
                                       felicity with satisfaction
                                      Conch shells in harmony
                                            fragrant luxury
                                          Satemwa dark tea
                                           what a rich flavor
                                          with hints of cocoa,
                                                  vanilla
                                            and licorice root
It was a winter after noon
I truly needed a cup of tea

Premium Member Prayers Needed

Hearing the words "touch and go,"
I sink into a quagmire of despair
Slipping and sliding on tears of fear
In a swamp of memories

I've but one brother, one sister
Artie's Covid battle unleashed ills
Pandora's Box opened to pneumonia
COPD and emphysema

Now the reaper knocks upon his door
I pray he does not answer
Separated by a thousand miles
I long to see his smile again

To hear his laugh just one more time
I'd follow hope's long road anywhere
Wrap him in the comfort of prayer
Use my shield of love to protect him

His chances tenuous at best
Anxiety chases dreams away
Lord, let me embrace him once more
Before You carry him home

Never Knew I Needed You

La...la..
yea..yea..

Far as long as I can remember,
you were always with me through December,
Has I walk the lonely roads of November,
I can know longer remember,
our coffee morning conversations,
our dreams, our obsessions,
they're all a blur to me now,
grief as finally won.

Never knew I needed you,
never knew I couldn't cope without you,
has the days get shorter,
the nights get longer,
the darkness stays a while longer,
I sit and wonder,
if you knew,
I needed you,
never knew I needed you.

I remember laying in my bed,
with my phone in hand,
Pillow under my head,
as I listened to my favourite band,
before you would buzz,
a hello beautiful or a hey hun,
Those days, there gone,
no longer available to me,
I now listen to music alone.

Never knew I needed you,
never knew I couldn't cope without you,
has the days get shorter,
the nights get longer,
the darkness stays a while longer,
I sit and wonder,
if you knew,
I needed you,
i never knew i needed you,
baby I need you.

Has the days get shorter,
the nights get longer,
the darkness stays a while longer,

I needed you,
I never knew I needed you.

as you stay up above,
I'm sending you all my love,
I needed you, to need me too,
don't forget the day you left,
you left your heart behind,
with tears she tries to hide,
with the pain she locks inside,
all because you said goodbye,

Never knew I needed you,
I never knew I needed you,
baby I need you,
needed you,
la la la,
oh I needed you,

Premium Member 'peace When Needed'

You know how we sometimes analyze too much and forget to feel?

It’s okay to feel -
whether it be confusion
pain
sadness
anger
or you just want to cry -
even the strong ones like us get lost

we don't always say what we really need,
we hide behind the go between and supporter to everyone..

So tonight if you're lost
know that in your silence you can still
liaise with your Maker...

He sees beyond what we ever imagined

most importantly He gives us the peace
and guidance we sometimes seek in others...

Needed

Ive forgotten what it feels like
to be wanted, needed
He certainly does not speak of
his need in words
He does not show it in his
actions
Unless i am to take those few
moments
Where he pulls me close to his
warmth and falls asleep
Surely he still swears his love
But more and more it seems
routine
He makes no attempt to pull
my young body to his
No longer does he run his
hands over my ample curves
My slender hips built for
motherhood
My supple breasts which perk
at the remembrance of his
cupping palms
Hands now turned greedy
when the few moments come
that he expresses his male
need to release
I needed? At the notion i scoff
This caveman of a lover knows
less of need than a newborn
Mistake me not it is in
understanding that he dwells
within a cave
When put to use he is more
than perfect as a lover
Selfish bastard. Laughing at
my words.
He understands nothing
And so i have been allowed to
forget the blessing of being
someones need

Tiens mes pensées
close let your dreams lie
impassioned albeit pensive
succumb to the sultry beats
echoing across empty hearts
and within the day breeze
tomber en moi

Faraway but close enough to see
you no longer holding me
I know
yes
I see

Death's Often Promises A Needed Relief

Death oft' walks paths both light and dark,
desperately shallow and sometimes deep,
riding on purest truth so eternally stark
sometimes revealed in dreams we sleep.

So often as feared as a mad tiger raging,
with fangs showing and claws so long,
oft' a remedy to that of our painful aging
saddest melody in that dying song.

Often sweet is it's gliding shadowy mist,
time and walls silently passing,
seeking bright flowers on eternity's list
its great finality all encompassing.

Sadness is it's taking of the very young,
taken in such softened early bloom,
joy stopped, life so tragically unsung
left behind heartache's empty room.

Sometimes that promise so eagerly sought,
when in misery and unending pain,
comes with blessing of a last train caught
and the joy of much needed rain.

A gift when time has then sadly taken away,
joy, happiness and one's true love,
bright sun shining on each and every day
showering a new light from above.

Time To Laugh - No Religion Needed - As New Year Supersedes It

It’s time now to have some fun

So less from you of the moribund

It’s time to kick our weights off, including our smelly socks

Time for wishing everyone good cheer, as Christmas is nearly here

It doesn’t matter what we think, or if mine or your feet really stink

Religion just get out of here, as I am looking to New Year

We can then maybe work it out, without having to shout

I told you that until next year, that I won’t even hear

Anything you have to say, but you will say it anyway

At least though then we have another chance to try

The next New Year to make things right

All I Needed

All I needed

All that I needed, I just couldn’t get it from you;
I gave you all I had to give and you left me feeling used.
All the love that I gave, wilted away and it was left to fall through.
It’s such a shame that we ever loved; I wish our love had never bloomed.

You have rejected all I had to offer,
So who am I to complain?
I deserve someone so much better,
But still I think of yesterday.

Oh so true, that all I needed,
I needed to get from you.
But you have always known what I needed,
So you used me and left me in the distance,
Still searching for a love that is true.

All I needed to get from you,
Was never there in the first place.
So why do I still suffer inside my mind,
Every time I picture your face?

All I needed, I needed from you;
But you never felt the way that I do,
So now the two of us are through.

Premium Member He Needed a Sign

He loved her, but could not propose. He needed a blessing or something.
She wondered how much longer they would date; it had been ten years.
I need a sign, he told his dreams nightly. He needed Grandpa's blessing.
Flock of seagulls divebombed them and their red umbrellas.
He immediately proposed and they ran in the rain, holding hands.
His granddad's favorite band was Flock of Seagulls from Liverpool.

Premium Member The Needed Window

Windows are always there for us
nearly every room does have one
should make us appreciate our lot
look out and see all that's done

Consider every room you have
imagine that there's no view in sight
no glass, not even one that's cracked
every room with no light after a night

The darkness blinds one so much
eventually, this would tend to depress
bringing heavy moods upon the mind
for how long is anyone's guess

Of course one can use electricity
have the use of lights all around
but that brings something so artificial
for inside the desire for true sound

All of this shows the needed window
what blessing to look out so far
see the colours outside so very bright
love the window it's our bright star

The Most-Wanted Height and Most-Needed Heart

THE MOST-WANTED HEIGHT & MOST-NEEDED HEART

Do women miss out on a good man
because of height & forget God's plan?

Most definitely yes, of course,
and shamelessly so without remorse.
I feel for such women & their plight
of not setting their priorities RIGHT.
On a norm, everyone set priorities,
but not all set them right, bar minorities.
This high man, with a great thing to pursue,
Dies 'ere his manly character without rescue.
That low man goes on adding one to one
and making many more mouth cheer on.

Do women miss out on a good man
because of height & forget God's plan?

They ignore the man who can meet despair
and face defeat with a cheer,
without venting, suffocating yet not losing.
Inadvertently, that's the man of God's choosing;
The man whose low gravity defiles the laws of gravity,
One who achieves with brevity & unambiguity,
The man who can fight to Heaven's height
on his knees and diffuse all your fright.
Gushing for the big man & feelings on the loose;
What a size says the size of his shoes

but crumbling down the rose at her height,
So with her dream man who lacks a heart,
his power & beauty forever take flight.

What you WANT rivals what you NEED.
Uneasy as it is, let your desires concede
to the needs that are required for life to proceed.
What most women WANT is a good height
but what they mostly NEED is a good heart.

Premium Member Help Needed

Rows neatly planted
Running east to west

Then a field of wheat
Ready for harvest
Golden is the grain

All the plants look alike
Not a weed did I see
For miles one golden stand

Time for harvest_
Are we ready?
Gain needs gathering
Putting into the barns
Before the summer storm__

Where are the laborers?
Workers are so few_
None to drive the tractor
Could this farm employ you?
