Walking My Daughter Down the Aisle

Walking My Daughter Down the Aisle

Wedding Day, Lake Tahoe, 2001

Walking my daughter down the aisle,
Oh how very painful that was for me.
For in all her resplendent bridal glory,
Only a lovely child I could see!

The sweet little girl jumping rope,
Or the days she played Mommy.
She was and still is, my angel child.
I got number and number with step we took.

I felt truly that my world was ending.
Then that moment, oh that moment.
That final kiss as a Mommy~~
And yes, I gave my angel child away!

Those days of Cheerios, cartoons and candy,
No more bubble baths or combing her hair.
In a split second, vanished,
Like rainbow bubbles lifted heavenward,
Into the warmth of the Lake Tahoe air.

Hi Panagiota, it is a sentimental journey when you give a child to a husband or wife. Elias and I were both married and divorced, and we had my son give me away and his son hold the rings, Rick said in his speech - he was only 17, I am not giving you my mother, I am sharing her with you! He had all the women in tears. I bet you are really close to your son in law, who must love you very much and look what they gave you, a wonderful grandson. But I understand your sadness. Hugs, Jenny.

Jenny, what a beautiful wedding with a great son saying such meaningfu words. I can understand the tears. My son in law works shift work and my time with him is limited. But the grandson is the gift from them both. So tall and so handsome. Feel close to all three. That day was a hard one... Hugs, Panagiota xx

Such heartfelt memories dear Panagiota of your daughter's wedding day, but I am sure the bond you have will never be broken and she is still and always will be your sweet angel child. With kindest thoughts Ann xx - a FAV for me!

Yes, yes! How wonderful you made it a FAV. She is a giver not a taker. She gave me a son-in-law and that grandson, I constantly mention...that wondrous poet, pianist, baseball and basketball player. Both do endless tasks for Mom. We live close to each other, too. ))) Humbly, Panagiota xx

Yes, Darlene, it was the hardest moment of my life! After I gave her away, I went into a state of being numb, emotionally. People around me were crying but I felt nothing. Yes, I gained a magnicent son in law. Then came the grandson. They have created a beautiful lifestyle and home. Very proud of all three. But that day..how did I know? Maria and I are still like sisters...your great friendship, like I have with Tom, is deeply cherished. Panagiota xx

Right you are my friend. No matter how great her accomplishments. She remains~ that little brunette in pigtails, tucked in bed with her dolly. She has been married almost 20 years? Gee. Many new people have never seen some of my earlier works. Hope they like them. Appreciate your visit.... Panagiota xx
