Best Mahal Poems
Noor* of Taj Mahal, jeweled in red stone
death or love, tranquil oasis alone
rich jasper and jade hanging on its walls
in cold melody, mourning music falls
Mesmerizing bride in gossamer gown
Veil reveals... the majestic palace crown.
A medley of corsage strewn in sealed dream
opulent facade, beauty is the theme
Pale blue sky in her iconic magic
wax melded moonlight triumphs a tragic
covenant of love, splendor celebrates
passion so strong will never recreate
Aurora of a queen in marble white
glinting Yamuna*, her sole copyright.
* Noor is an urdu word meaning Light
* Yamuna is the river on the banks of which Taj Mahal lies.
Taj Mahal means Crown of the Palace

TAJ MAHAL
In this October day, as usual,
Late in reaching fulfillments
Memoried paths resenting familiarity
Historied tracks crumbling
A cloud-shred trailing a mass to merge
I walk into Taj and stop to find
Adorned love placed in an ornate pedestal.
Still selling their lights profitably are the sun and the moon
And getting her name yet again and finally is the Jamuna
O! unsung architect, why does not
This wafer get blown by the wind?
Where did you get this sky from,
To stick your vision on?
Does the full moon become fuller
By holding a royal Mughal lantern
Will Jamuna loiter dazed by the punch-drunk fort for ever?
The Taj is in its all-white contemplation
On love birds, dogfights, nemesis and Nostradamus
And I walk through faded print with all words spent
Watching clouds forgiving crowds’ trespass into the skies..

Your Taj Mahal
Too many times you hoisted anchor
there isn't time but you should thank her,
for being such a goober for so long.
You have made her life a Taj Mahal
there she swims in waist deep indigo,
she's reflected in the cesspools of your morning sun.
An ivory tusk is what you're after,
a monument to fun and laughter,
she shaves your neck out on the street for fun,
she's New Delhinese from head to toes,
but you brought her to the Poconos,
where your Taj Mahal outshines the morning sun.
You talk about the plight of Gandhi
most of the night and all day Sunday,
and tell your friends about the things she's done,
at her spinning wheel she worships you,
but she's leaving in a week or two,
if she told you now it wouldn't be much fun.
She'll board a ship that's hoisting anchor
and meet a poet or a banker,
avoiding caste from where she once belonged,
she'll remember you for making her
one more monument to how things were,
when your Taj Mahal was whiter than the sun.

The poet Rabindranath Tagore described it thus:
"Like a solitary tear suspended on the cheeks of time"
This structure is indeed sublime
Located in India, it is one of the most visited places
Its name means Crown of Palaces
And it took about 20 years to build
Hailed as the epitome of love and beauty
Emperor Shah Jahan felt he had a duty
To build this magnificent structure, in memory of his favorite wife.. (Mumtaz Mahal)
Who sadly, in childbirth lost her life
Construction began in 1632
And it took a 20,000 man crew
To complete this structure
Consisting purely of white marble
Standing in perfect symmetry
It is surrounded by four gardens, and four minarets
Its interior is inlaid with precious gems and pearls
Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world
Of the wonders of the world that have been
The Taj Mahal is the best I've seen
With it's milky marble white
It radiates a glow on a full moon night
Shahjahan built The Taj for his lady love
Once she'd died and gone to the heavens above
In hope of reminding him (it might)
Of her face glowing on a full moon night
With it's chambers full of breeze
One can say he was head-over-heels
In love with his wife, Mumtaz
For whom he built the wondrous Taj
Mahal kita.
That means I love you.
If I knew it in every language,
I would tell you all of them everyday.
Although it sounds so corney.
It is all so very true.
I hope that you believe me.
With a heart as pure as mine,
this love is not a sham.
I hope our love grows stronger.
Mahal na mahal kita.

If one goes on compressing everything
In one’s own self,
How one is going to prosper?
This selfishness could be self-killing.
Make the others laugh,
Laugh and be happy.
Extend your happiness
Make everyone happy.
Shahjahan built the Taj Mahal,
One of the seven wonders,
To Make Mumtaz, his wife
And mankind happy to look at.

Contest: What is civility to you
Across busy Arabian Sea,
Before the lands of sun flower skin,
There she is, land of kohinoor washing her feet;
Where three sisters of sea joining their hands
Where northern brother stands highest peak,
Circled by these centuries old neighbors;
There you are, dress in white, in that open sanctuary.
From far and near of the four winds
Those eyes and ears that feel your being,
Wondering your birth and dig your past
As mind of history numbered your moments,
Touched is the heart that receive you tale;
Tellers of you recite one theme
Deed speaks love more than word.
O you! Master piece of thousands tragic fingers,
You! Face of the ancient skills,
By moving waterside, you rest and still;
Forget not, trumpet of battle was blown here,
Where once the lonely emperor decided to erect
The manifestation of ever growing love,
For Mumtaz days were done before her time.
Heralding Silent invitation, to all the shores,
As their dwellers come to pay homage,
Millions of admirer heart, you win more
To be family of seven wonders;
Love may born and Love may die
But you change not, lonely Taj Mahal
Symbol of Ageless Love.

O Marvelous Mahal
Abode of love with no equal
Though I never saw you for real
I can sense your power so surreal
O Marvelous Mumtaz
Your story life would never erase
Your knight has you in eternal memory
Such is willed as your glory
O great edifice of love
Seeing you I wish to be a dove
Flying all over your structure
As the one to admire each of your feature
O life, shall you give me such an epic
Shall my story be such a relic
I pray to be as eternal as the Taj Mahal
Glorified by my knight so in love with my boreal!

?Mahal kita (I love you) -
I saw the sign in your eyes.
That moment our eyes met,
I've got unexplainable feelings
That moment is the moment,
I've been waiting for
to say the search is over
and that very moment,
I know you are the one for me
My heart had chosen you,
To love you unconditionally.
In good times and in bad times
Just, I won't promise for eternally
But, I must say this to you
Each day I get to know you,
I'm falling in love with you every single day,
and my heart keeps on falling in love with you
over and over again.
I thank God for each morning I get to wake up.
Because I know he is giving me another chance
to live again.
Another chance to tell you how much I miss you
How much you mean so much to me
and to say "Mahal Kita" to the moon and back.
Mahal, pag-ibig mo ang tanging lunas
sa lahat ng sakit at paghihirap;
sugat at lungkot sa aking buhay
tila walang katapusan.
Ikaw ang daan, aking liwanag,
tungo sa bukas na sumisikat;
at kung tulutan ika'y mahalin,
iyong-iyo ang puso ko,
irog, mahal ka sa akin.
Mundo ma'y magunaw,
walang bahid ng takot -
dusa't pait susuungin ko,
basta't kapiling ang mahal - ikaw.
Ikaw ang daan, aking liwanag,
tungo sa bukas na sumisikat;
at kung tulutan ika'y mahalin,
iyong-iyo ang puso ko,
irog, mahal ka sa akin.

Fantastic story in milky marble,
In honor of a wife, so praiseworthy (?)
Though seems overflow of fidelity,
Tajmahal is Muslim art, painterly;
From around world he brought so precious stones.
He ordered his whole kingdom to labor.
Mumtaj bore Fourteen children, soulfully;
Her youngest tried to break his father's bones,
Didn't Shahjahan keep wives for favor?
Six, the history says, quite dolefully...!
Maddened with thoughts of a lone masterpiece,
He gathered all artisans; gave gifts, sweet;
Cut off the hands; plucked out the eyes, with ease,
And played fiddle, like Nero, as in treat;
Lo, the architect did greatest of deed,
Made a hole, no one knows where, till this day,
And, hence, it's leaking, leaking and leaking;
Engineers of every caste, sect and creed,
Thenceforth, have tried greatest possible way,
To stop this seepage and irksome reeking...!
So, when I look at you, Tajmahal, dear,
Pool of blood floods within my naked eyes;
Should I ignore these for art-sake and drear,
Or bear it for heart of love that ne'er dies?
Reject simile, metaphor! Parts of speech,
No figures of speech match human being,
Tell Shajahan and Mumtaj this great fact;
Every one to every other must teach,
It's each and every being's well-being,
And not monuments that truly attract...!!!
