Bird Song

Blast it bird! Where are ye off to?
Don’t ye know the day is through?

Oh but I’ve a lovely song to sing,
I must ere I do another thing.
To the man in the garden who works with the hoe,
He’s tired and lonely and his heart needs to grow.
Then off to the widow who thinks of her lost mate,
And meditates on the gorgeous sunset of late.
It is my heartfelt, joyful duty for which I long,
To comfort God’s people with my little song.

Oh, well off you go then,
Your song wins again..

Inspired by Francine Robert's contest 5/8/11

If I Could See You Now

If I could see you now
Your eyes lit up like daytime candles
Shining in my Knoxwood night.
If I could hear you now
Spilling laughter like silver bangles
Flooding my world with light.
If I could hold you now
And feel the pillow of your breast
Inviting my heart to stay
O, but I in sorrow now
Am so sorry and must confess
I am only mortal clay
And when this music plays again
Memories move me to pain
For you are gone and hope is vain
This song is just a chain.

I had no wish to wander,
Love, so long in the wind, drowning
In my tears, looking back
To days that never come again
And if you are still tender
With forgiving, when you are remembering
Blame fate that switched track
But could not break the chain.

Tom Jans wrote "Lying in your loving arms again." The only persons I have ever heard sing
this song is Elvis Presley and Kris Kristoferson ...

Love Isn'T Love Till You Give It Away

There is a gift of love you cannot buy
That is, very rare and very true,
It’s a gift of love you, can give to me
It’s like having a wonderful guy, just like you
The many things you can do for me,
In your kind and loving ways,
You can give me months of happiness;
That no one, but, you can take away.

Nothing can be more beautiful
Than thoughts I have in you
The thoughts I’ll treasure forever,
To me, you, are someone special,
Yes you, and only you will be.

Someday your team may win the game,
And someday, I may win you, someday.
But we all have to try, even me;
Yes we must try, to win each others love.
Cause a bell is no bell, till you ring it
A song is no song till you sing it,
And, love in your heart wasn’t put there to stay;
Love isn’t love till you, give it away.

Lovesong To An Alaskan Fisherman

LOVESONG TO AN ALASKAN FISHERMAN

If tame you want
Tis fool you’ll get
In fishing North high seas
But if you go a trolling
And you catch a fish like me
Prepare for love ---prepare for war
There’s not a moment’s peace
And you’ll forget flushed one nightstands
And follow schooling breeze

Oh-- I had loved you mighty
Knocked the pluck right from your chest
Gave you babes and warmed your nights
And wove your babes a nest
And fool you were to throw back in
A love that topped them all
But one last chance awaits you here
To heed bold Nature’s call

So head inland and fight the gales
That plague this stormy sea
Think of love that grabs your guts---
There is no fish like me.

revision of poem written in 2012

Until Then...

If I were to sing to you a song it would be a song that would set fire to the soul.
I would remind you of the lips you've burnt and the heart you stole.

People do not truly get over the one's they've loved until someone they love more comes
along.
When will he come along and stop this cruel, torturing song?

Who knows? Until then I wait here in this melancholy existence.
I don't want the world. Just a warm, safe, unbreakable embrace and a long, sweet
surrendering kiss.

Until then I cry these tears and sing this song...
  Until then...

Oh, write tae me of the highlands,
the crisp air and the damp.
Write tae me of the heather'd fields
'ere Bonnie Charlie danced.

Oh, place yo'r quill upon the page
and dream a fey song wit me,
of rock tor's an' crags an' fiords
which join the raging sea.

Of fair Iona, the Isle of Sky
the Inner Hebrides.
Hike yo'r kilt, strap on the uilleann
and keen a sweet song for me.

Oh, dinnae tarry beyond the pale,
with the wail of the brash banshee.

Lovesong To You About Tomorrow a Modern Haiku

LOVES SONG TO YOU ABOUT TOMORROW

Plant dreams of me on feath’ry pillows

Dancing thru thorns—we blossom

Dawn into periwinkle glory

A Drunken Fool's Lovesong

I will mourn for you today,
and ache for the comfort
of when I used to lay my head
across that Buddha belly of yours,
and you used to sing me
your drunken lullabies
(though I knew no difference
at the time).

And I will listen
to this song:
mariachis' high-pitched gritos
accompanying the blaring
brass-tasting trumpet players.

This time, when I see you
dancing to it, sombrero atop
your silver strands,
you won't reek
of that amber-colored
death
anymore.

Blue-Velvet

swimming through the night like dark pools
clearly, the stars shine their light
surrounding you in an everlasting glow
that sparks to protect and

caress's the exposed skin of you
your passion is heated to the core
its sweet; the desire that's hidden
beneath your coils

the caressing light contrasts with the
dark pools of violet-blue velvet that
swims through each lovers heart,
it runs through their ears like a bloodied
blade.

hissing its serpent song in your ear, caressing
you in a false touch that chills to the bone.
the light that surrounded you has dispersed,
turning to fog and carrying you

eerily to the depths of the lady's dark grace
she, who hums lullaby's in your ear when
you lack the courage to close your lids and
dream of what you desire.

she, who pulls you; calls you to her in her
siren song. she; who caress's you in her feather
light touch. whispering in your ear.

"thou loveth me, i love thee. i cherish thee, forever. "
she hums these words till you believe,
its her siren song that she sings in your ear
when you lay in your bed asleep.

hoping, just hoping
in your dreams, you weep.

Gotta Find U

I need to try to get to where you are
Could it be, your not that far

You're the voice I hear inside my head, the reason that I'm singing
I need to find you
I gotta to find you
You're the missing piece I need, the song inside of me
I need to find you
I gotta find you

Been feeling lost, can't find the words to say
Spending all my time stuck in yesterday
Where you are is where I want to be
Oh next to you... and you next to me
Oh I need to find you... yeah...

This song is dedicated to Ed Owens.... I love you buddy:) !

Love Song

Open your ears
As your eyes let down their tears
Upon hearing my song for you,
A song of a love that is so true.
This is my love song.
It's not that long,
But it does portray
The feelings that I cannot say.
So, to you, I will sing
Of the love that will always ring
In my heart, my dove.
Listen as I sing this song of love,
A song to describe you
And all that you do.
My ears will ring
And my heart will sing
At the thought of seeing you.
I only wish you'd love me too.
And now I must go,
I will see you again, my wonderful doe.
My time is nigh,
I love you, and good-bye.

Lovebird Lovesong

Now there are two little bluebirds,
and an ocean of baby blackbirds
to keep them company.

So sing pretty bluebirds, cause
you're really two little lovebirds,
singing we are soulbirds!

You fly from tree to perch

singing baby you're my bluebird,
singing where's my soulbird,
singing I hear my songbird!

Every tree is your home,
and every tower your perch,
and don't be scared cause
you sing like a dream, making
your predators fall asleep.

Singing baby you're my bluebird,
singing where's my soulbird,
singing I hear my songbird!

Your sweet sonnets serenade my soul,
your lighthearted tune makes me want to
fly your direction, and your heavenly pursuit
keeps me on the edge of my tree.

singing baby you're my bluebird,
singing where's my soulbird,
singing I hear my songbird!

So, keep chipper my sweetly singing bird,
and you'll find me in the same tree eventually.
Leading the sparrows in the lovebird anthem,
then you'll remember our song.

Strange Lands

I have walked with strangers in strange lands
I have seen those lands through their eyes of madness
and not been afraid to keep looking

I have sat with them and shared their songs of insanity
and not been too frightened to listen

But the land that you live in is far too strange for me to understand
and your song is too discordant for my ears
I never want to walk with you in your land
or hear your song again.

A Lovesong Upon the Wind

From afar I hear an amazing love song
One That is written upon the wind
With melodies of such shattering beauty
It can be compared to a heavenly hymn

Its sweetness is like sweet wine to me
Which is found aged for many a year
Its pleasantness touches my inner soul
While bringing alive in my eyes soft tears

For it is my loves heart singing to me
From very far where she does now stay
As her heart tells me she needs my love
To be with her even past our final days

And I find myself swept away by emotion
As this never happened this way to me
And I fall to my knees swearing devotion
To her love which means the world to me.

On the Highway of Love

The voices that come out of the fog in the night
sound like rhyme :
O…my young lover
Hasn’t it come the time for you
to open your hazy and lonely heart
and get involved in my sparkling light of love
in the rest of life of yours…
About the very long days
and the great deals of happenings which have gone
you’d better forget them
Never mind.
But just come really closer to me
in my embrace
there will be a warming song of longing for you.

O…my young wanderer on the highway of love
Wake up from your cradle of your passionate lust
Stand up
Be ready and adorn yourself
with the bead of my yearning.
If my longing hum is heard by you from a far
at the crack of dawn
first thing in the morning
give it a hug of yours
because together with the chilly dawn
my warming song of longing will come through.
