Premium Member On the Fifth Anniversary of My Wife's Death

Dies Irae, Dies Illa:
Day of wrath and day of doom.
So begins the chorus
Of Verdi’s Requiem Mass.
Taut vibrations of the violins
As drums roll in a crescendo of sadness.
It had to be so unfortunately,
For we must all eventually die.

A tear falls down my craggy cheek,
I still remember the sadness of her demise.
Despite that she was riddled with disease.
Such is the finality of this wretched life.

Now Lilian is at peace.
Not I though.
My yearning for her love
Hurts the very essence of my being.

I look at her photo.
So many memories for she was my rudder,
Steering me sturdily through perilous paths
That were straight though narrow.

Five years passed and how I long
To join her in her Heavenly bliss.
God’s infinite mercy is boundless.
Still I learn that life is not in my hands:
All with ups and downs,
I can still picture her laughter, falling,
Dancing, loving, cherishing.
And then her own painful death.

Patiently I wait
Alone,
Until one day
My lovely Lilian and I will be joined again in happiness.

Pain

Pain—the best part of being human
Pain—the worse part of being me
Pain—a process of refining
Pain—an aftermath of being mean
Pain—the longings of young people
Pain—a blessing or a curse
Pain is just pain
Nothing more and nothing less

Pain—a redflag to the carefree
Pain—a driving force for me
Pain—a temple for the heartless
Pain—the darkness I could see
Pain—a burden for the childless
Pain—the route for you to bear your kids
Pain is some pain
Something here(??) and something there(??)

Pain—the cost of your tattooing
Pain—a trademark of your sin
Pain—a symptom of you living
Pain—a yeast to your limping
Pain—a reward for your heartbreak
Pain—a cup y'all must taste
Pain is much pain
Some things hurt and some things burn

Pain—a thing we hate to feel
Pain—a sign of _this is real_
Pain—a sting that doesn't kill
Pain—this isn't part of our deal
Pain—the birth of my recklessness
Pain—the death of my kindliness
Pain has gain
Body piercings are beautiful but it does pain

Imagine you living without pain
You'd bleed to death yet feel nothing
You'd be betrayed yet not hurt
You'd never cry because
You can't feel pain
Pain will be a myth
I wonder if we'd enjoy life without pain
How much more of childbirth

Premium Member Promises Kept

Dedicated to my wife Lilian

I’ll never forget the day I first kissed you,
Oh, how you blushed that first tender day,
How I whispered softly all I felt for you
And promised heaven would start on earth.

Look back my sweetheart and tell me true
If indeed my promises I have faithfully kept,
Don’t linger too long to answer, my cherished one,
I know I could never have disappointed you yet.

Did we not enjoy our honeymoon so full of enchantment?
Where music mesmerized us with melodious Mexican strains?
Served with food of finest, inimitable delicacies, satiated
Our appetite till we danced until the early hours of the day?

Then life’s humdrum came upon us, but we always laughed.
We went for walks and like newlyweds, we kissed and smiled.
Until as years rolled on, I got promoted and we could afford
A bigger house to fill with our dear little charming daughter.

And come what may, for I know life is short,
I will always maintain my vows and promises
I uttered with great sincerity on that lovely day
When we held hands and exchanged rings
And uttered that for us it was for better or for worse.
Still, if we had our lovely lives anew to start
You’ll always be right here in my heart.

Stroke Survivor Uses Right Arm - Leg After 3 Years

GLORY TO OUR LORD AND SAVIOR Yeshua HaMeshiach

Thousands of miles away, my drums beat with America -
the ear drums as much as my heart rhythm: news of abuse
A mild term for what some (a minority, surely) police do
When they can get away with murder, or "crucifying a man" -
But when I am called to pray - here at the Senior Center -
I jump to it, my raison d'etre, my thanks to Jesus
As I did again today, for Tanie Dora. Mama Lilian had a testimony:
Her right arm, she lifted high, to show what prayer had done
(She had asked me to pray for her right leg, but now GLORY!
Her entire right side is responding, and moving, joyful story!)
Three years later, in her faith, Lilian believes Jesus will "restore"
So Wendy and I, prayer partners for a few months now, rejoice
In our LORD who still performs signs and wonders - imperfect voice
Of mine, and Wendy praying in Afrikaans, we deliver a one-two punch
To the dark side, in Jesus' Name. How good to also know
Jesus is the same always, even as our planet plunges in this or that
Tragedy wrought by human hands. What can God do with hate, our fear
Unless we trust Him for he says, "Come ... I will give you rest" * the burden
Lay at the foot of the Cross. If we hearken, we often pick the load again
And take it on our journey through the day. He will not violate
Our freedom to do as we will; even our freedom to fear and hate!

The Autumn Statement

Fresh football fixtures, fill our Saturdays
kids all get haircuts and new shoes for school
white summer dresses are folded away
north winds caress us as evenings turn cool

Summer's end harvest, berries and chestnuts
broken branches, the scattering of leaves
shaken dog walkers with their shell shocked mutts
low hanging sunshine, a Cox apple breeze

Weather becomes our preoccupation
ends talk of rioters, waiting for cells
and pauses all of our speculation
on flip-phone Fuhrers, in fancy hotels

Storm Lilian found, it's way down our street
the Autumn statement, arrived at our feet.

Lilians's Kindness

I'm trying to count on these fingers the umbrellas
I've lost on windy days: wasn't it hard chasing them?
And swallowing raindrops, I challenged the mayhem!
Wasn't it funny laughing at the desperate fellows?

I'm drenched and so mad walking home a half mile,
doing this weary walk was a mere, worthless dime;
the nicest lady invited me in, " Drunk some tea, Jeff,
it'll do you good: wait until this rain tempers off! "

We chat while drinking tea and eating a delicious cake,
" I just moved in a week ago, I love this peaceful town! "
Lilian exclaims with a delightfulness of cheerful clown;
I thank her saying," Not many people can really bake! "

I get up and hug her, she does resemble my pretty mom,
" You are welcome anytime, neighbor; the door is always open! "
And with joyfulness in her glance, she's broken her norm;
I look up and sunlight peaks through: I wave at the pale sun!

In Love With You

Longing, dream and prayer is that
Icy streams of your eyes be mine
Long soft hair spread on my shoulders
Years of darkness want you to shine!

Love is utmost care for someone,
I'm the one who cares for you!
Like hue to flower you are to me
You are my love, is not that true??

Lilian

You sprout like a flower in my heart,
You erode my frowns with laughter.
My mind is struck by many darts,
each time I view your facial art.
You always my desires water,
as loving petals from them sprout.
In my loving heart's deepest south,
I feel just you entrenched therein.
None else could my emotions win,
but you, the goddess of men's hearts.

Shoes

My nana always says "lilian, make sure you buy yourself some really good shoes, because your feet are gonna have to carry you for the rest of your life!"

But recently i was giving words of encouragement to someone, and realized the same could be said about your mind.
Its one of the few things, if the only, that will be with you forever. So you need to be kind to it, give it sleep, and food and water.
Be nice to your brain, encourage yourself and hopefully learn to love yourself.
Because your only guaranteed yourself for eternity

Premium Member Had No Idea She Could Look Girly

Lilian invited us to her recital
she was a quintessential tomboy
We could not imagine her in a skirt
Or as a dancer

We attended anyway, for she was our friend.
We had always seen her in bulky sweats.
We had no idea she was light on her feet
or that she could look girly.

The prima donna was a whirlwind of activity
she looked like a bonfire, popping in oranges and yellows
Glitzy sparks appeared to leap from her tulle skirt.
We were mesmerized, was that Lilian?

She held us captive with her beauty.
We would never see her as a lumpy tomboy again.
Now that we had seen her as a dancer.
She was exquisite, the quintessential ballerina!

LIBRA

Lilian, a Libra,
Looking for lasting love,
Liked Les and luckily
Leo was his star sign
Looked good until his wife
Laughed at the suggestion
Lilian? Still a spinster
