I REFUSE TO COUNT SILLYBULLS

There once was a poet who despaired
though blessed with a fair amount of flair
that he was way too thick
to master limericks
counting words an arduous affair

Limerick-writing he'd master not
count sillybulls, meter and whatnot
the elusive punchline's
too troublesome to find
with his thoughts roughly tied up in knots

Spatial dimension impediment
a meter doubled in measurement
at the best of times three
lopsided prosody
shoddy despite its being eloquent

Sillybulls ignored and miscounted
charge around angrily, discounted
with their hoofs on the slam
they step up the bedlam
bewildering chaos uncounted

With pep talks and deliberation
resolved: they're too high 'bove my station
so to rhyme he should stick
and give up limericks
where wordcraft counts naught but summation

*Sillybulls = syllables. My thanks to Ephraim Crud for the loan of the word.

The Color of Poetry

As the ink touches my writing pad every letter seems to glow.
I feel I'm going mad watching sentences light so bright like a rainbow!
Each word seems to hypnotize and my mind begins to travel.
I watch through brown eyes as the poem begins to unravel!

Nouns and adjectives make up each dazzlingword.
The exclamation at the end of certain sentences compliment my verbs!
Yellow, red, and blue hues reflect my mood.
Each paragraph shows a little bit more attitude!

I wonder how so many colors can come together and still coexist?
The stanza's flutter light as a feather never tiring my wrist.
My rainbow of letters in my sentence3s never cease to amaze me.
A canvas of art within my heart is the color of poetry!!!

Darkness fell across my writing pad, putting my stanza's in gloom.
I just knew I would go mad as I looked around the pitch dark room.
In the darkness I felt the push of my pen, and went with the flow.
A premonition again, and looked down to see each letter begin to glow!
Even the punctuation seemed to have a bluish hue, that illuminated my eyes.
I had a huge sense of deja-vu and the color of poetry I begin to recognize!

Each letter stood out all alone, and brighter they seem to grow.
Sentences like different colors of gemstones looked like a horizontal rainbow!
My pen begin to dance, having an aura of a brilliant white.
The stanza's begin to tell of a romance that would soon under the moon ignite!
I couldn't believe it had to do with me, and my head started to spin.
A love I wanted to achieve begin with the color of poetry all over again!!

Elusive Poet

No rhyme
	This time.

Re-thought
	Still naught.

Read books
	Got looks.

Brain nap
	A sap?

More rest
	Flunked test.

Online
	Not fine.

Didn’t learn
	Still yearn.

Free verse
	Got worse.

Poet?
	Forget.

Tried hard
	No bard!

Personal Memories

Inquiring was my mind to gain was her wisdom
Awakening to find she never found it random
As I sat by her side precious yet seldom
Measuring her breathe as she led me to his kingdom
Footsteps called belief given my chance for eternal freedom

A Sign from God

Send for me, should I be gone-
I am but a touch away
In hand with God and we are One
(In folds of light my Mind doth lay)

My shining Soul, both bright and dark,
Was bound by birth to Misery
With lucid lines, I now embark
To write my Life through Poetry

Limitless World

Cruise ship in the universe
Sailing across the cold space
Star ships floating into nowhere
And islands of galaxies glitters.

Colourful world of fantasy
Exposing lies and reality
Accepting truth with fear
Oh, please take me out here.

My golden suns are daffodils
Glowing glorious everywhere
The moon serves as my dear diary
Where I could tell my story.

Stars are my fireflies
As the night goes by
To the falling stars I blow a kiss
Just to send my only wish.

Want and Need

Everybody wants what they can't have
Most times what they can't have is just a fad

A fad that goes from fab to drab quite fast
And like a scientist in a lab going mad
It's sad to see

Everybody's chasing after some fab fad
But what they really need
Is what they already had

ILLUSIONS TO DAZZLE

An observer would ask quietly,
Why do we write poetry?
We use illusion, in words to dazzle,
Our muse flows words, no hassles,
Each poem a fragment of society,
Writers always luminaries,
Beacons of a torch, to dazzle,
We scribble each verse, no hassles........

Relyrics to My Kind of Music -Bon Jovi's

Chakra - the Light
will make you stay...

You give Light
in a new way (new way)

Walk for awhile and time will tell,
you'll walk straight through Heaven,
and forget about Hell.

No more chains, you've set me free,
when you're in your prison, your Light's the key.

Woah... You're a ray of Light,
walk in the day- forget about night.

Chakra - the Light
will make you stay...
You give Light
in a new way (new way)
You give Light
in a new way (new way)
You give Light
in a new way (new way)

A kiss of light sits on your lips,
sparks jump from your fingertips.
A young man's dream is to win the fight,
your very next kiss will be your first kiss of light.

Walk for awhile and time will tell,
you'll walk straight through Heaven,
and forget all 'bout Hell.

Chakra - the Light
will make you stay...
You give Light
in a new way (new way)
You give Light
in a new way (new way)
You give Light
in a new way (new way)

eye contact

eye contact.
who needs it?
like when i try holding my anger
and you tell me to look up
out from behind my knees.
i hesitate. i know i'll cave.
when i look at you,
when i see your eyes,
i lose my train of thought.
a spark goes off
and my soul catches fire.
so you start smiling
and i cover my face
and i can't remember
why i was mad in the first place.

new light-giving care

Cloaking confusion

Was that a drop of rain glistening on the tree? What was that? A moon ring shining on the sea Was that a silver lining that I can almost hear? What was that? Light on clouds as it disappears Was that a horse and rider in the midnight gray? What was that? Just rolling clouds like waves What is this pitter patter? Does it matter? It was dripping now an emotive splatter Gathering moonlight from the puddle Branching right from the muddle

Your Tray

Deep in the ocean
Two buds bloom in joyous dark
And then it is light

The sky in the boat
Rides the sail and moonlit wind
Become shining stars

From the mystic bridge
In awe and love we look at
Both the oranges

It is poetry
World poetry day today
Words from your joy tray

Spark Light

Spark Light
Edward Clay
Created 1996

What mote of soul
clothed in words.
Comes forth from inside.
Born to be voiced for others to hear,
To answer need for it to exist,
To respond to drives inside
as basic as breath.
To put forth
from the dark shrouded places inside of me.
Something of the light
into the light of the world around.
Possibly
it will fade
into the vast places of the world
to die.
But my hope is
that it will spark light
in another’s spirit

Keep Your Head Up

Watch the tide rise and fall
Just to know you're alive
No one sees what I see
They don't know what I hide
It's easy to drown
In the doubts of your mind
But we're not backing down
'Til the sun warms the sky
Keep your head up

LIGHT HOUSE

Evasive splashes rise and fall
Leaving but a trace of mist
To reflect
The taste of awe
For gaping jaws to admit

Could it have been?
Pointers light the way
While the house stares on as the willow
With pursed lips and nothing to say

Catch a slice in frames
Slice a piece to save
Give the rest for the next
To cherish the foggy days

Slide right through the bars
Skip right through the links
Mellow in the bush alone
In wait for the Humpbacks’ wink

Uncertain

Watch those who change around you, for their climate is unsettled
The cool breeze of yesterday becomes the humidity of today
Unstabled weather, impossible to predict
Seasons who disregard their alias
Man is merely a leaf,
Woman, a rare fruit
Inconsistent, yet consistent

Komorebi Land Where Poems Are Made

KOMOREBI

The Land Where Poems Are Made
Chorus chords of
Sounds mutter, iambically
Especially forming tongues throughout the ages
To give birth to rhyme in metered rages
Ancient rants, bellow from the depths
Of hollowed souls, needing to be refueled
As a lamp that all too quickly burned its wick.
So, yes, I toss and turn with loads, puns unsought
And words, dance wildly in my sleepless mind.
Yet, drifting bass-backwards through the woods,
and weeds of thought.

Ah yes, I am chasing dreams and nightmares too.
Hoping doors will open in the whimsical worlds in time.
That I may be the wise woman that writes the poem;
Whose poetic flute plays the tunes that pied the poets’ minds
Mimes leading them to that open space-

Where the light shines through the cove of trees;
Where ditties and missives, are the leaves that glisten.
Where rhymes, and poems nod and dance in the breeze,
And hang like wisdom’s fruit off grand poetic trees.
We pluck, we eat, we deliver that which we seek to write.
Remembering KOMOREBI
… We then finally, peacefully, now spirit-filled, we sleep.!

The Duality of WoMan

The Duality of WoMan

I’ve been trying to decide if I am good or bad,
But the truth is I am each in equal yet separate states of mind.

I have been trying to do good and do nothing bad,
But the fact is I am each;
Neither perfect, nor totally flawed and yet I stand here alive.

I hope to do good even if it may seem the wrong choice.
I try to do no wrong, but still I speak, for this is my voice.

I want to be totally healthy and that is ok;
But I also like and need things…
I will find my own way.
