Akala Mo Lang

(My apologies! This poem is wrtten in Filipino....for my brother Edwin...i hope to translate it one day)

Noong tayoy mga bata pa...
Wala akong maalala....

Akoy nagmakaawa....

Dala na rin ng iyong pagkabata....
Ako ay iyong binalewala....
Salamat sa ating kasambahay....
Ako'y nabigyan pa ng ikalawang buhay....

Habang tayoy nagkakaedad....
Naalala kong tayo'y laging nagbababag....

Hindi man kami magsalita....

On a narrow street of Singalong
  spreads and banners hang along
Wreaths of subjects and icon
flourish within the alleys of lexicon.

As acid waters plunge,
  dirt and dust lounge.
Tin roofs clang, rants and rats run.

Not all streets boom with a bang
Only in the street of auld lang syne.

After Auld Lang Syne Is Sung

The horns are squeezed the bells ring out
Auld Lang Syne is sung, no one about
All gone to their homes, arm in arm they walk
A few bevies inside them, so they talk the talk.

Of how it will be this coming year
Money no object, no fighting or fear
Till they get home, something seems to snap
The dog is kicked, the wife gets a slap

The bevies have taken over, control is nought
Peace ever after, what a grand thought
No use trying to coax or chivvy when like this
Definitely stand away, don't get close for a kiss

He will blame it on a bad pint, same as last year
Makes you want to forget new year with all its fear
He needs to be locked up with a few likewise men
Bet he would never, beat his wife up again.

So all you men and women that drinks too much
this poem I hope your conscience will touch
Get a grip of yourself be a man keep off the beer
Give your family a break next new year

For all the abused women and children that fear holiday times

Here is the love story of Zhi Nu and Niu Lang
A romantic ancient Chinese tale of very long
Zhi was a nymph and Niu Lang was a cowherd
Cowherd-nymph love forbidden,secretly wedded.

Had two children, but their happy life ended.
As by the goddess Wang they were detected.
The goddess took Zhi Nu back to the heaven
Niu Lang chased them with his two children.

They were blocked by the milky way- sky river
And the children kept crying for their mother,
Shouting her name, Niu and children wandered
By their pain and grief, the goddess was moved.

She allowed them to meet one day in a year
Could be seen in the sky as Altair and Vega stars
They meet and live happily ever after for a day.
Day celebrated as Qixi- Chinese valentine day.

Auld Lang Syne

Tonight, let’s toast to life’s revelries
When fullness of time drips fine wine,
Play on the year’s red-berried stories
Sipping the kindness of Auld Lang Syne!
As this year is now forever gone,
That through all journeys we entwine
Newer the resolve, to right the wrong
To sing of praises, good Auld Lang Syne!

Preparing For Auld Lang Syne

I must forget
so as to replace
the face
on the streets,
without contempt.

Start the new
fresh and already accomplished.

You'll live inside my memory book
Sometimes I'll go back and look
Your image there won't fade away
A thousand years sharp as today

At one-o-five (105) if I'm still here
I'll open up that book so dear
And write through hands that then will shake
One last poem for old time's sake

Auld Lang Syne

Looking out my window at the snow falling softly
I am reminded of the passing of time
the new year can bring new beginnings
the new year always made me a bit melancholy
leaving the ones I loved and lost even further away
at least that’s how I feel every year when I hear
auld lang syne at midnight

I know life goes on
I know life is good

that moment of sadness and sweet memories
visits me during that song
I will not say goodbye to them
my heart swells for the missed moments
as I take a deep breath and wonder
what will this new year bring
locking those memories in my heart

Lang May Your Lum Reek

“Lang May Your Lum Reek"

Leave
A light on
Like
A fire aglow
Keep
One burning
As
A warm hello

Leave
A light on
Illuminate
The way
Let
Neighbors know
They’re
Welcome to stay

Leave
A light on
Not
Just for books
It’s says
You’re welcome
Come
Into my nook

Leave a light on
Its
Simple to do
If
Down turns them
Off
It’s
All up for you

Auld Lang Syne

I will change. I will focus new. I will be
The new creation that Christ has made me.
I His infinite wisdom I know that only He
Knows my life’s plan which I’ve yet to see.

I am not capable of change on my own, in myself.
Obviously, I cannot. I have not. I could not. Or else
Clearly, I would have by now, altered this hell…
This wasted foolish life I have not lived well.

Looking at my life on this New Year’s Eve,
I do, at least, have the courage to believe.
Please help me, dear God, Your ways to receive--
Not mine. One more chance. One last reprieve.

And here it is -- three months have passed...
About long enough for such resolutions to last;
Therefore, it would seem, the dye has been cast
But not necessarily, and not so fast!

The awesome thing about life? As long
As there is breath, there is hope for song;
There can be a righting of any wrong.
There can be found your place to belong.

Premium Member Another Year, Another Auld Lang Syne

Another year has passed by me and so much different then the last
ever since this Covid March I have been living out my house arrest
no outward smiles to show my love, no hugs no squeezes for my kids
like a Citizen of good I understood but yes, I almost flipped my lid

with every day that passes by I dream of yesterday's good chide
though nature walks and social talks are good, I have been tried
heart and soul I miss my family and friends, this is my prayer
that the New Year will arrive, and be our dragon slayer ...

Another year another Auld Lang Syne, I'm longing for the wine
an open sign that says yes come in, restaurants where I can dine
a shopping mall, a dancing hall, filled up buses with a kiss n' ride
maskless faces in a world of wander, with happy people at my side

Another year has passed me by, and I'm waiting, by and by...

I thought about you today as I so often do.
I felt the sad familiar feelings
that will not go away.
You came to mind in a flash of memory
While I was doing something else.

I never seek these thoughts.
They seem a painful waste of time.
How can a memory of broken trust comfort a wounded mind?

Wise counsel claims that friends come and go
Like seasons of our lives.
And we must learn to ebb the flow.

Joyously we chased the tide
of communion in Spring.
Embracing the warming Summer sun
as we gathered the flowers of trust.
Life felt so safe together.
As we shared our allotted time.
A fleeting moment of hidden grace.

Then came the growing chill of Autumn
Catching us unprepared.
When sharing overwhelmed the trust we shared.
The turmoil came to wrest the very fabric of our commitment
From our weakening, vulnerable souls.

Worldly wisdom saves the day
How plein d'ostentation. -1
Telling us to grieve not companion’s loss.

If faithful friends come into our lives
for only a season,
It cannot be for a nebulous reason.
As each friend punctuates and seals the memories of our lives.
Every remembrance of moments shared
Must have had Godly intent.

The memory is deep inside me now,
Regretfully unfinished and abandoned.
God never wastes our training, our time, or our talent.
His wisdom is eternally purposefully present.
Teaching repentance and recompense.
Should we not reclaim this “auld-lang-syne?” - 2

Hindi Basta Bata Lang

Oo at hindi diretso ang iyong kahulugan,
Hindi rin tiyak iyong kinabukasan.
Subalit ika'y luwad ng mapagpalang Ama,
Sa'yong kamay, hinugis ang sana.

Kaya't ipipilit, iiyak nang maging masaya;
Lulupasay, mag-aala uod sa lupa!
Ganito ka ngayon kaya kinakaladkad,
Bukas, iba kana't lilipad mamumukadkad.

Taglay mo ang liksi at sigla, ang ngiti at tawa;
Munti man, kayang baguhin pati ang bala.

Taglay mo ang lahat ng pagbabago;
