Best Kwanza Poems
My room is a mess - it's an archaeological record of boredom.
Christmas, Christmas, come on Christmas.
It's 4 days 'til Christmas. Why don't I go to my room and do NOTHING??
The clock ticking sounds like a large horse clomping over cobble stones.
Last year there were wall-to-wall parties - so many that you had to carry a change of clothes with you.
In 2020 there's nothing to do - but I don't have to tell YOU (my reader). Except for the whole school thing. Nothing to do but study. I read, on that webber-net thing that 38% of students are failing.
Because of the pandemic - oh, not that virus monster - the boredom pandemic - the London-tower-lonely state of slow-motion distress that’s invisibly gripped us all.
Can we hold on people? The hard-won, delicious truth is that there’s hope. Vaccines - a bunch of 'em. Is it possible to let worries go this season and simply treasure our lives?
Just this month we have or had Hanukah, Kwanza, Festivus.
Hopefully, you made wild, monkey-love on December 14th - that was "International Monkey Day" - I couldn't join you - of course - but I'm just sayin. =]
Look it up - almost every day is some kind of celebration or invent your own - if Ice Cream Day, Lemon Cupcake Day, Go Caroling Day or Crossword Puzzle Day don't do it for ya.
The important gifts, this year, are fun, attention and love.
September gone, October here, November in our sights.
Fall magic floats all around in orange and brown highlights.
Prancing sunlight sprinkled on leaves of gold soon delights.
September gone, October here, November in our sights.
December now, January around the corner. Valentines next.
Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza, then frost and sleet, up to our necks.
Red and green, twinkle lights, evergreens covered with in snowy flecks.
Warming up with hot chocolate, cuddled close in plaid pajama checks.
March and April, spring delight, and May, the end of school by June two.
In twenty-four-hours we have forgotten every sort of rule
It is summer vacation, and we are ready to spread our wings and fly.
Toward the sun, fully enjoying every second of June and July.
August is so unique, she deserves a stanza of her very own,
For without her, we would not be able to write any kind of poem.
Teachers and schools, new backpacks, teachers, and potential friends.
August starts out so fresh and smart, but that rather quickly ends.
Every season is special in his or her own special glorious way.
Enjoy each one, for none of us know if we will have one more day.
But one thing is for sure, and you can set your clock by it.
With the right attitude and optimism, they can each be a riot.
A name reflective of its traditional kingship
is its identity, showcasing a cultural strength and heritage.
A huge trader with an Asian giant
is this land upholding the Kwanza like the Indian respect to its Rupee.
Indifference is shown to the culture of tipping;
substances like cigarettes can stand as replacement to cash.
The semba is a mother influence to many others like the samba of Brazil
and it has a zero tolerance approach
towards its public structures and security zones.
It is an epitome of the continent’s blessing in wealth and resources
this land shakes hands with the black diamonds from beneath
but once bowed its head to the rule of the Portuguese.
Now standing as free as a large open space,
yet still humiliated by the shackles of the African curse.
(Homage to the Kwanza River
" Water mother " of Angola)
Largest and only Angolan
Art thou, O majestic Kwanza!
In the central highlands
We see thee rise in Mumbué
And 960 kilometers of undoubted majesty
To the north and west
Since the municipality of Chitembo, in Bié
Stretch out on the big curve design
Before the hug, so sweet, so strong
You give to the salt of the Atlantic
Largest and only Angolan
Art thou, O majestic kwanza!
With an enviable basin
For two hundred and fifty
Kilometers, you are navigable
From the mouth to the Dondo
Where the dams of Cambambe and Capanda
Render yourself patriotic reverence
By the megawatts of power
Largest and only Angolan
Art thou, O majestic Kwanza!
As well as to the national currency unit
In the two provinces, thy name this also:
At its northern margin, Kwanza Norte
And Kwanza Sul, on the opposite bank, equally
They pay more than deserved tribute

Money, life material
temporal source,
Made for life's
every course, to
earn, win or
Gifted in ways
selected to maintain
the well being
Of mind and body
health, riches and
wealth.
Money in currencies
from different
Regions of the
World,
Pound Sterling,
Dollars, Dinar,
Lira, Escudo, Rupee,
Pound, Kwanza, Euro
Birr or Lira to name
a few,
more abounds in
place unknown to me
and you.
Money rid our lives
of homelessness,
hunger, and sadness,
Slows the
unhappiness lessen
distress,
Ends the poverty in
the desolate, mend
the broken spirit,
And bring joy to a
child's life who is
sadden with
misfortune.
Money man's
creation, limited
and filled with
subjection,
Was created for
pleasure, measure,
and power, but
caused,
War, theft, pain
and sorrow to God's
unlimited world,
Of riches, love,
freedom and beauty.
Money needed by
all...
Having been born in ghetto in Mathare,
twas' my best place to have ever fallen for
Experiencing a short motherly love,
that led to total absence between the two of us
Fatherly love, never experienced even for second
Led me misfortunes into lots of hurts and misfortunes
never thought the world would turn it's back on me
Going back to the place I used to Call 'gishagi'
Used to slang and perfect English in ghetto
Landed me in new class of language heavy to speak
A deep cut of lasting trouble was to start experiencing
My hair cut for reason 'yetu huwa hailei nywele,
Never thought a person would go hungry
Getting used to 'chapo, mcheti, and nyake
I know got used to kula mahindi nyeupe for supper
Striving hard to cope with the situations
This landed me to usitutawale huku sio Nairobi
Going to high-school I thought life would be easy
That fatherly love I missed would shadow me
Being naive a journey of suffering continued
Working till late and eating when everyone was asleep
Wile having supper I heard unakula nyama mono unaacha mifupa
Breakfast was no escort for me in the house
Running for help to a relative who thought was nice
I forgot siku ya kwanza mkaribishe ya pill mpe jembe
Insults became a lifestyle, harassments were a routine
Bitterness cropped my heart, vengeance clouded my soul
As I approached finishing my school this followed
Nmesema kwangu uhame sikutaki tena hapa
Thinking of my future this followed
I don't think your better than my son
Everything wasn't over till God says it's over
Twas' now a new beginning for my life
Still with struggles I waited patiently like a parody
All was made perfectly for my Wellness
What happened was a foundation for the future
When tides are high by his voice he calms it
When all is gone a new wind is coming for restoration
When people hate more shore more love
Stand on the firm ground that is Jesus Christ
Everything fell into place despite the challenges
The despisers pretended to make it up
But a strong heart never gave up on forgiveness
Current situation shouldn't affect your destiny
Many are the hailstones that hit us,obstacles that hinders
But true overcomes always win no matter what
Life precious with God in ones side.
Pink Tulips bloom, sun
Kwanza Flowering Cherry
Hammock swinging, sneeze
We started a move,
With Mwalimu Julius,
The move to paradise,
a promised land,
Full of wine and vineyard.
We declared Arusha,
As symbol of movement,
Unifying poor and richer,
To live as one forever,
And build the nation together.
Challenges started,
When some dislike the policy,
Socialism is an attitude of mind!
They wanted free market,
To exploit their fellow brethren,
They sabotaged and plundered,
Public Industries and companies,
As the preparation towards drunken walk.
We are drunken, yes we are!
Moving two steps forward and three back,
Spurting tobacco on left,
But covering the land on right,
And this is our move,
A move towards development.
We are fifty three years old,
As the old man with white hairs,
But lacks wisdom by talking the same thing,
Kilimo on morning day and night,
As the backbone of the economy,
And now with amplified sound,
Named kilimo kwanza,
To bring about development,
And changes peoples life,
That we previously failed,
But this is our song,
A song of the digital world.
Listen comrades,
I also agree,
And let us resume our failure,
For we dare again fail,
In a country like ours,
Where policy is importation,
Of everything except soldiers
What movement do we speak?
Or movement towards primitive!

IMANI: Kwanza Thoughts For Today
seeds of faith must grow,
fertile soil germinates faith;
Be that soil of faith:-
We must live our faith...
We must be our faith's heartbeat...
Let's blossom daily...
Faith is for living,
Let's plow rows of faith;
Fruitfully growing:-
N.B.: Amani na upendo;
Be a spiritual rock,
Rolling onward in your faith:-
P.S.: May my Kwanza clusterings,
Tease your AI ponderings;
NI awareness rooted:-

```He cheated```
He cheated and said im the liar,
Aty me ni elder wa brothel me ni malaya,
Akapack... madem ni wengi akaishia ulaya,
Sina ubaya bro ulinipata kwa choir,
He cheated on me na madem wa campo,
Aty im the main one ka movie za Rambo,
Alinipenda ka his only dish chapo,
Take care akienda campo uko kuna mambo,
He cheated on me coz sikuwa available,
After ameniambia anataka kwanza nisome Bible,
Ndo atleast niwe simple and humble,
Kumbe ilkuwa trap nikajipa trouble,
He cheated on me venye alipata slayqueens,
Akasema aty kingdom poa ni ile ya queens,
Na war poa si ya poor ni ile ya kings,
Akatry kunikeep off na all means,
He cheated on me na hio kujichocha,
Me ni bibi ya lawyer kitu iko rare ocha,
Wait ile sifa nilipewa kuitwa mtoto wa kocha,
Maringo mingi ka nimepewa million vocha,
He cheated on me akisema aty nikona machali
Na time niko off study ni kuuliza tu maswali
Visingizio tu me aty niko mbali,
Na hivo ndo tu niliachwa na hii ball.
He cheated on me na hio text ya i love you,
He cheated on me na i was like you,
Yeah alicheat na hio message im there for you,
He cheated while saying i need you!!!
