STARRY, STARRY NIGHT

I often look up towards the sky at night,
And wonder who or what is there,
I shout out loud, if you see or hear me, I love you,
I do this every night, the starry sky, an absolute delight!
I drive out of the city to the Kruger Park,
There, not only am I close to nature and serenity,
But to the universe, I look up, no pollution,
I stretch my arms up high, excited, it is very dark!
No street lights, or cars headlights, or any noise,
The moon is so bright and full, it smiles at me,
Quite rare, for normally the moon looks a little sullen,
The stars, I’ve lost count, as they twinkle with such poise!
The Milky Way so clear, I feel I want to reach up high,
As it allures me, and weaves across the sky,
Milky, so graceful and silent, as it, and I watch
Sparkling stars, and planets rotating, unknown
To mankind, yet to be discovered in our eternal
Galaxy to which I want to fly!
Our universe has constellations of stars, named mostly
After mythology’s gods, who beckon, tempt and wink
And entice me, but I am on planet earth, how near
Could I reach this flamboyant display, body, soul
And mind, holistically!
So maybe if I look up into our never ending
Sky at night,
And wish upon one star, with imagination
That runs rampant,
I will see above and far beyond with breathless anticipation,
What I could never imagine, an explosion that blinds me,
An aura, translucently bright!

Premium Member Big Five Here We Come

Wow is this for real, my boy lollipop,
My best ever destination, da, da da da,
Is a trip to the park
I love it when it gets dark,
Da da da da,
My boy lollipop.
I want to see the big five,
Then adrenaline will pump,
On which I thrive.

I love it, i love it, I love it so,
Da da, da, da, da, da da da,
When i see a star constellation,
And clear skies,
Even the milky way,
I want you to know,
This feeds my always
Active imagination,
Da, da, da da,
My boy lollipop.

I have missed the roar of the lion,
In the early morn,
We get up, shower, that was our alarm,
Am I right my boy lollipop,
And the gentle, long lashed giraffes,
Da da da da,
I long for an elephant’s trumpet,
Da da da da,
My boy lollipop

Hey sweet hubby lollipop,
For you I desire,
Hope we see buffalo in herds,
And a Dung Beetle carrying turd,
Da, da da da,
You always set my heart on fire,
My boy lollipop

The soar of the fish eagle by the river,
A leopard chasing its kill
Hey my boy lollipop,
He carries it up a tree
And eats his fill,
Da, da, da da,
Oh, how I love the Kruger Park,
From my first visit with you
I fell in love
My boy lollipop.

Will we see hyenas or wild dogs,
Da, da, da da
Will it be sunny and hot
Cold nights or not,
Tell me my boy lollipop
Will you be wild with me
We are in the wild so let it be,
My hubby lollipop.
Da da da da.

Wart hogs are so cute
They squeal with delight or fear,
And rhinos, surely
We’ll see lollipop dear,
Once remember, we saw two
Baboons fiercely fighting,
There’s so much more,
Let’s wait and see
Da, da, da da, da da da,
Will you buy be some candy,
If I promise you, clothes
Will be scanty.

Have my silly cap on, tomorrow going to the Kruger Park.
The da da da’s is the background music.
Inspired by the song my boy lollipop sung by Millie Small,
A hit in 1964.
Big five is when you have spotted elephants, lions, rhinos
Leopards and buffalo.

Premium Member Hubbys Folly

We are off on a long DRIVE to see the famous, re-known big FIVE,
Three hours later at the Kruger National Park we safely arrive,
And cruise among predatory country, beautiful, colorful wildlife,
Full of LIFE the two of us, my husband and his very excited WIFE.

We see a pride of LIONS, and park next to a tour bus of HAWAIIANS,
They seem ecstatic, cameras clicking, among them Uruguayans,
They follow us, as they seem to think we will know where to go,
Continue over a bridge SLOW, see crocodiles drifting with the river FLOW.

Still the tour BUS continues and winds its way whenever they see US,
We see cheetah, leopards, a herd of elephants, an absolute plus,
We stop, the tour bus stops too, at a waterhole, but leave, close by are bees,
We spot rhinos, baboons, eagles perched on TREES, a warthog on its KNEES!

The tourist’s excitement contagious and SPILLS, we come across horn BILLS,
Big birds, the secretary bird, Goliath herons, but the horn bills by the hills,
Excite them the most, we had befriended each other and my husband said,
These birds don't FLY, upon which they flew off towards the SKY, hubby so red!

Premium Member Hypodermic Illusions

Pine needles fall on manicured lawns
on quiet streets where elm trees grow
But in their midst a demon yawns
And screams through veins from which it flows

 Hypodermic illusions line the curb
where cars are parlors for getting high
 Overdosing in the suburbs
The inner city has no alibi

 A nightmare on elm street
and Freddy Kruger is nowhere in sight!
But the boogeyman does not retreat....
yet some will not awaken from the night!

Premium Member Whatever, Wherever, Whenever

WHATEVER, WHEREVER, WHENEVER!

Imagine what goes through
Our minds in one day,
Perhaps millions of thoughts
I would dare to say!
A complex computer of
Crisscross wires,
Our brain surely sometimes tires!
And if ever in doubt
About whatever,
I say, Hey Google,
She comes to my aid,
With answers galore,
She’s centrifugal.
We are so absolutely techno,
More complicated our
Lives than less so!
I touch a button and order a pizza,
A sandwich or whatever,
Had this ever been the case,
In years gone by from wherever?
We travel to work every day
And take a weekend off to relax
But remember on the way,
We didn’t pay our monthly tax!
Arrive at destination, damn
We forgot Uncle Bob’s 90th birthday
Can’t phone him till tomorrow,
Battery has died on the way!
Oh no, he will never forgive us,
To my husband I say,
As I suddenly spot a leopard
With his kill in a tree, hurry!
We forget Uncle Bob, I know you
Have you guessed where we are,
At the Kruger Park, we came to relax,
But it’s really far!
We decide to forget everything
And promise each other we will,
When my husband says,
I short paid the cashier at the till.
Well that garage knows us well,
We will pay her whenever,
Incidentally, he said that last poem
You wrote is rather clever.
SWITCH OFF we simultaneously say ,
We are on holiday,
Our brain needs a break
Even if we think we don’t,
But we both know we won’t!

Premium Member The Desperates

THE DESPERATES

The hungry and the poor,
Will always try to find a door,
That will offer them a little more,
Than what they had before.
They cross the border through
The Kruger Park,
When it’s dark,
A singularly desperate act!
Between them all they,
Have made a pact,
To secure a life,
Where they can survive,
Or die trying in a
Desperate strife,
To keep alive!
Sadly, they often become,
Human bait,
To fearsome cats,
Who are surely looking for that
Foreign smell of meat,
And will prowl until they
Find them, then
One by one, to eat!
The few that do not
Meet their fate,
Kneel down and pray,
For yet another day!
These predators
Prefer the night,
When they have the
Best eyesight,
But also take chances when
It is light,
And give these desperate
Humans an unexpected fright,
Who leave behind,
A trail of scent.
The Animals spot their
Prey under the shade of a tree,
That offers afternoon cool.
They already begin to drool!
The only sign that humans were
There, are knitting needles,
And a ball of wool!
Still more human bait is left,
Although many are now bereft,
They run and hide,
Down mud, they slide,
For hope that
On the other side,
They will find,
Peace of mind!
Some make it to the other side,
But sadly still have to hide
From humankind,
Who seek, these
Desperate people out,
For cheap labour, they
Know their route!
All has been in vain,
As once again,
They are forced to be poor,
And used and abused.
All they wanted was a
Simple life, never had
Any illusions of grandeur,
And so the door
They sought,
Has only brought,
More sorrow,
On the morrow!

Premium Member Freddy's Back

The dream illusionist, nightmares grand master,
For fantasy and horror.
Terror's unholiest jack of all murderers, a beast unleashed
From the nether worlds darkest depths,
Beyond the gates of hell itself!
A twisted slasher, whom lightly taps, taps at realities
Window pain, waiting to be allowed entrance, unto
The realm of your unholiest of fears.
Count your children of Elm Street, beware stay awake
At all cost, for your own sanity's sake at least!.
For if you were born on Freddy’s private hunting grounds,
No soul escapes alive or unscathed!
The predator to pray ratio, lies not in your favor,
For survival don't go to sleep my friend.
Tilting his hat, this the gentleman night stalker,
Laughs with a jackals heckling, as he grins,
With devilish delight, relishing the taste of fears
Intensity, creating a heightened sense of
Exhilaration.
Thrilling this demon dressed in red and green
Stripes, to his skeletal funny bone.
Urban legends boogeyman, whom defies
The angel of death the right to claim
His mortal soul, just go ahead jack,
Do you feel lucky or what!
Who wants a pink Cadillac, not Mr. Kruger,
Crimson red is more his styles preference,
Trunk wise it's more spacious,
Then a grave sites junk yard!
Springfield's ice cream man is cruising,
Along his old haunts again,
Anyone for a double scoop of Freddy’s
Special blend, no to each their own
I guess.
Now it's time to play, the Elm Street
Lullaby, now I lay thee down to sleep,
I pray the lord my soul to keep,
But if by chance I dare not wake,
Oh God above, don't allow Freddy to take,
That which belongs unto heaven
And thine above,
Please I beg of thee!!!!

Premium Member Nightmare On Elm Street

When we sleep we expect sweet dreams
The kind where we ride on moonbeams
Where everything is lovely and nice
Sweet dreams made of sugar and spice
So it was on Elm street that night
When children went to sleep expecting dreams of delight
Little did they know that Freddie would be there
To turn their dreams into their worst nightmares

He goes by the name of Freddie Kruger
And has claws as sharp as a cougar
 Freddie has a disfigured face
On his head a brown fedora sits in place
He wears a striped sweater of green and red
And comes to steal your soul when you're asleep in bed

So the children wouldn't sleep at night
They were in a perpetual state of fright
But sooner or later some would nod off to sleep
And come the morning you wouldn't hear a peep
In the night they had screamed and screamed
But no one heard them, it was just a dream

Friday the 13th'

In recent years a amazing thing has happened to the number Thirteen,
Adding Friday, and the movies, Freddie Kruger has entered the Big Screen.
A silly guy with tights, entering dreams and prowls around at night.
Murdering, slashing, and it is a ridiculous sight.

Well in ancient times it wasn't always that way,
The number 13 was revered as a lucky number, a great day.
A calendar with 13 months, suns and moons were the norm here.
Thirteen months, not 12 was the calendar year.

It was considered lucky, and a blessed day,
Cleopatra was up for it all the way.
The ancients didn't hide or cringe at this day or think anything bad,
They celebrated with pomp and were not at all sad.

A lot of people have a misconception of the number thirteen.
Unlucky, like black cats is mentioned on our national scene.
People all around the world cringe when it's Friday the Thirteenth,
Some don't even leave their homes or work on this day, to me it's obscene.

Thirteen? Well I tell you it's just a number nothing else,
It happens just a few times a year, and should be ignored as unlucky for yourself.
The Lord has a way of laughing I bet at this utter nonsense,
How can a number be anything but that, it makes no sense.

Superstitious mumbo jumbo has taken over our daily lives,
As we let it scramble our moral thinking while humanity is trying to survive.
What is in this day that allows people to act so strange? To actually cringe,
As they let it confuse and disrupt our lives, a pretty strange thing.

Superstition is the devil's crafty invention, to confuse and create chaos,
to really confuse and get away from our Lord and Jesus.
When the Freddie Kruger's creeps into our conscious minds at night,
Allowing this day, the thirteenth, to become a social blight.

So pray that the Kruger's won't confuse your thoughts and let God lead the way,
Friday the thirteenth is a blessed and God given day.
The ancients had this number and they had a fun filled event,
l3 was lucky to them and laughing is how this day went.

Be thankful and count your blessings that the Lord has given us today,
Take the time to reflect and get down on your knees and pray.
That the devil will be put behind all of us Christians, and we should be thankful,
That our Creator is with us , we have no fear, and we are totally grateful.

Humans Be Not Proud

Humans, be not proud
Every human is a farm
Chocolate for animals
To live, eat and survive
Every human, bacteria’s cake
Food for viruses they are
With delicious juicy flesh
For fungus, fish and ferns
The healthier, the bigger
The more balanced the diet
For guests they host daily
Lodging without lodging fees

At birth workshops are held
Conferences are organized
By all farm citizens present
Bacteria in majority attendance
With dictator-virus in the chair
Lions, vultures, hyenas, sharks
Flying insects as back benchers
As they rule without elections
Budget without income at hand
Spend without accountability
And share the national cake
Donated by the Farm Manager
Humans, be not proud

As you load bags
From supermarkets
And fill your eager gullet
With beers, sodas and wines
From bars and Sheratons
As you chic, chip and chap
And crack chicken bones

Invertebrates lie patiently
Waiting right there in the room
In the kitchen of your stomach
To enjoy a delicious cocktail
Humans be not proud

Humans, be not proud
Alive, healthy or sick
Predators in the bushes
Of Masai Mara, Kruger
Anaconda of Amazon and
Polar bears of the Arctic
Salivate as you scamper
In your precarious life
All praying ‘Lord, Lord
Release for us our beef
Give us this hungry day
Man the bull, the delicacy
You offered on our birthday
As our daily bread’
