The Unlikely Alliance

The unlikely alliance

for me you need not be clothed
I understand your fragility
of which the edges are like krill
To you I disclose my being,
for only you I rehearse my songs.
From the truest vestiges of the heart,
where the rumbling of the soul
and electric current making multiple zeds as if ignition cannot be..
until it does..

Erupts this volcano inside of me, the magma of the heart cascading walls and gleam.
Steaming, hissing ,smoking at your feet and there it halts, and there it cools and I deliver me.
Touch me I am warm
Feel me I am true.
Where us unlikely two shall meet, you the tulip, I the lava.
There your trusting brave will do what none would believe.

I give you that diamond of the earth, that stone that doesn’t melt,
under pressure it was formed.
Be sure to stand the allegations of my antagonist
How I need your alibi
Oh how I yearn for truth

Premium Member Imagine a Dead World

Imagine if all the krill
Beneath the ice shelves were dead.
Millions plus millions of krill
Fodder for ocean’s creatures:
Penguins, walrus, whales.
In the end all will die and the ocean
Will be a poorer place for all.

     Imagine if all the trees
Would lose all their leaves for ever.
     No Autumn splendour,
No fruit, no place where to hide.
     Would we not be living
     In pure disaster?

Imagine if there would not be any wind.
No music to inspire,
No words to adorn the arias,
No emotion on men’s faces.
We thrive on emotion.
And what is emotion if not poetry?
We simply cannot live without it.

black and white landscape
a colony of penguins ~
standing and waddling

in the oceans depth
lives a black and white giant~
orca killer whale

seal on an ice flow
oblivious to danger ~
head butting whale strikes

egg laid by female
emperor penguin stands guard~
female goes hunting

not in Africa
elephant and leopard seals~
sea is their jungle

hourglass dolphins
smaller than a bottlenose~
keen bow wave riders

home is in the air
the wandering albatross~
a ten foot wingspan

in the frozen south
a species of royal bird~
the emperor penguin

the antarctic terns

krill is on the menu

thick and warm white coat
a camouflaged artic fox~
unseen in the snow

Book: Radiant Verses: A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry

An Atoms Tale Is Epic

If I die before tomorrow
Though the sun won't shine for me
Take pleasure in it's warming glow
There's a future there to see

No life will last forever
The sun will one day fail
But not before we've all passed on
So who will hear the tale

A tree falls in a forest
A whale dies in the sea
What happens to the birds nest
Do the krill sigh with relief

For all things have their moments
And moments are just that
Fleeting blinks of birds eyes
While they are swallowing a gnat

The movement in those atoms
That constitute our food
May see them come full circle
How oft have they been chewed

Eternity is far too short
To learn all that is about
Everything this world has
Is really nowt but nowt

In pondering the puzzles
That plague us one and all
Don't succumb to sorrow
When you see the last leaf fall

As somewhere in the realms of space
In one parallel or two
Will be another one of us
Who holds a similar view

All the atoms that we find here
Have been around so long
Their air miles are quite staggering
But their engines still on song

While visions of perpetual motion
That man has sought for centuries
Can never match these tiny dots that
Have whizzed around with endless ease

Premium Member A Merry Brunch With Marky-Mark the Shark

I am a foodie, I must confess, I swim a few laps for exercise
Along come the Mollusk, and to my pleasant surprise
I have no restraint and they look so yummy
I just open my jaws wide, and fill up my tummy

Holy Mackerel, they make quite the feast!
Unlike that deepwater whale; Moby Vic, that lumbering beast
A real blow show, they eat any freak’n thing
Whale diet: Squid, Krill, Larvae, what distaste they bring!

Ah, catching up to the guys, what are they circling ‘round?
Heya Tom, Bill, GW, Anil. Rob, l see you’ve gained a pound
“I’m on a sea-food diet, I see food, I eat it!” Hee hee hee
Yep, you may want to stick to your day job, try a sea-shanty!

Look over there boys, the Seahorses, I hear they work for LYFT
Harry, how’s business, break for some sushi? California Roll, a gift
You may wanna giddy up, plenty of shrimp crawling beneath you
I know how much the Seahorse love to munch crustaceans too

"Shrimp—cockroaches of the sea! Not a kosher food"
Okay GW, what do you eat, my friend, set the mood
Gefilte fish recipe; grind the salmon, red snapper, codfish,
Onions, carrots, add eggs, sugar, salt, white pepper, in a dish
Stir in ice water, add matzo meal and chop, boil, voila, gefilte fish!

To the right of us, why it’s Lady L, my, she is swell
Small crabs on her menu, anything in the sand that dwell
Blowfish is a species that feeds on poison, dangerous to eat
They can’t hunt, they call ‘em puffers, just one puff’s a real treat

Anil, do you believe in sea nymphs on a blue oceanic parade?
Yes, I vision the lovely face of Wendy on the frame of a mermaid
Nil, come on now, aren’t you married, mate
OK, Tom, I’m going home, I won’t be late, I won’t be late

To the right of us the Starfish, greet the ladies of the sea
How they brighten the day, on display, as charming as can be
Pangie, Valsa, Andrea, Paula, Len, Kim, Eve and Gina
I know how you love snails, I bring escargot straight from the Marina

And so, my friends, another lovely day. Join us for our usual Activities and Brunch

Seamen Shantey

Skinny-dipping with you is a thrill
For a man who is over the hill
But just one squiggly squirm
From a small dangling worm
And a fish will dart in for the kill!

A Sperm Whale with a mouthful of krill
Can swallow more than you ever will
Only octopus arms
Could adore all your charms
But for you, this is only a drill

Where can I go.
Following me like the black plague,
Droppings here and there for show.
----let them lie where they fall
after all
who is the big cheese
who is the termite at the top of the hill,
rambling longer, saying less,
worthless krill
having to search out a dying whale
simply to have meaning to it’s existence.
Excess baggage intended solely to take up space.
Tainting the atmosphere with worthless mindless waste.
Floating around with an atmosphere of
“too close for comfort.”
Sad isn’t it.
All the lies.
All the make believe
All the deception of fellow
members who take the truth for granted.
Like the willow, which can only bend so far,
drivel faithfully ranted,
comes to a bitter end

Premium Member Whale Songs

Humpback beauties call to their young
Communicating to calves so precious
Don't be so immediately audacious
You can wander, just don't go too long

Blubberous parents are there to keep them close
For companionship, warmth and learning
Send each other many signals, the little one is yearning
Because of the ocean they want to make the most

Eating their fill of plankton and krill
The smaller babe makes a hydro sonic point
To the older one who loves this oceanic joint
He doesn't want to hurt or kill

The humans who eavesdrop on their descant
Like some other whales with mammoth choppers
Accidentally maiming overboard fishermen and surfers
These watery wonders are appreciated that's all they ever want

Imbibing benevolent attention only for half a century
Deep sea divers first decided to bring down equipment
When he spoke his special song, they had no idea what the male bull meant
That day being approached he was so hesitant and on sentry
Because whalers before had waited for them to breach
The surface for mere minutes finding some oxygen
Finding instead a foreboding air of danger without question
So reclusive they remain, staying out of reach

Beaching is another danger when whales will cry
For help they so need it and must be rolled back out
A benign thing on sand dangerously sprawled about
Back into the depths it should be before it go dry

Nature's biggest mammals can never be at rest
In the wild and bountiful marine, using fluked tales to swim around
Whales have a lot to say, their stories abound
In civilized society with whale translators today we are at our best

Making compact discs of them, something special we can keep
The arias of the ocean composed of many shores
Whales speak responding in the ripples as prophets do with lore
It works quite well for some, to lull ourselves to sleep

We should always stay in assonance.

Premium Member Li And The Dressed Chicken

I am Li from the East
Not the the martial artist

I am half-Asian
Raised in Appalachian

I love to cook
Selling in any nook

I push and pull a cart
Honest from the bottom of my heart

I cook street food
Spook and hook so good

I fry squid balls, chicken and krill
Or saute soft meat and grill

I play as I cook
And can tell stories out of the book

Just watch me and listen after I shook
I can also say how you look.

Have you heard the story
Of the dressed chicken in Hickory?...

A brood of chicken, a century ago
Arrived on the shore after crossing the briny sea of Santiago

It's a place in Chile
A land of beauty and wonders of simile

Around four hundred sixty-nine birds gathered
Different ones, condor-fathered
Big and small sizes like baguettes
Greeted the flock of chicken as nuggets

Chickens as birds with colored feathers
Envied for their tiny feathers

One chicken was asked,
"Why are you dressed when basked?"

"Your question is not funny...
It is an irony!"

The chicken said with a broken heart
Inside its chest is a burning heart

Adding, "Dressed is when I get decapitated
Breathless and emaciated."

"Oh, that's hideous!"
Said the greeter so conscious.

"What else do you want to know?..."
Asked the chicken who was mocked with blow.

"Nothing more," said the greeter
"Sorry for being a tweeter!"

Now you know the story
Of the dressed chicken in Hickory!

Dressed chicken from anywhere
From Santiago to everywhere.

Premium Member Emperor Penguin

He cannot soar as eagles do
Singing is not for him tis true
So this tale is told in black and white
in places where cold winds blow
So bundle up and take this flight
On a journey to the floe

   It's summertime but freezing still
And his mate passes him her new laid egg
And then she's off to feed on fish and krill
As he balances the egg on his feet with skill

He must incubate the egg till hatched
 As he awaits her return
She will come back and feed baby bird with her catch
And he will go to sea for which he yearns

He will dive beneath the churning waves
And glide beneath the ocean blue
Catching fish for which he craves
He will do an underwater ballet too

 He calls Antarctica home
And is the only creature to winter there
It's much too cold for others to roam
He is attired well, a 'tuxedo' he wears

Premium Member Killifish

I've got a dish of killifish
I wish to eat that silly fish
Baked, or fried in peanut oil
Roasted, dried, or let to boil.

Make me a star-gazy pie
Take me to the Catfish Fry
Lead me to the China Sea
Feed me hermit crabs and brie.

Help me out with rainbow trout
Salt and thyme and wedge of lime
Filet of sole, or snapper red,
Served up whole, or just the head.

Meals of eels caught on reels
You're the star with caviar
Butter clams served with yams
Can't say no to salmon roe.

Tuna eyes baked in pies
Oh so daring pickled herring
In the lurch for snails and perch
Ring the bells for cockle shells.

Canned sardines on toast with greens
Sturgeon, sprat, and stuff like that
Grouper, pike, that's what I like
Smelt and bream that make me dream.

Cajun shrimp for my new pimp
Lutefisk and lobster bisque
Flying squid and yellowfin
Silver carp and capelin.

Give to me a plate of oyster
Eat them raw, that way they're moister
Tilapia and tiger prawn
Eat them 'til my hunger's gone.

Hake or krill would be a thrill
Bass and shad will make me glad
Tasty crappie makes happy
Give a nod to Greenland cod

Oo! I'd like a northern pike
Barramundi served on Sunday
Grouper, alligator gar,
Halibut or no cigar.

Amberjack atop hardtack
Pan-fried kipper for the skipper
Mackerel, tasty as hell,
Lox and mullet down the gullet.

Kokanee or marlin blue
Arowana, bowfin too
Bring to me your soups and stews
Sing for me the dogfish blues.

Krill

Here I am...just a tiny Krill
   Alive and well, swimming still.

I wasn't eaten like my buddy Hank
Taken by a Beluga, before he went off to the tank.

My only safety has been in our school
One whale, however, can instantly reduce that pool.

I always shudder at the thought of being eaten alive
When all I want to do is swim and survive.

But we Krill are so special in the food chain you see
I don't know if I will see my hopes, or if they will die with me.

I'd like to turn the tables on those whales just once
See how they'd like it, if upon them I'd pounce.

Oh, to be able to eat just one of those creatures
To digest it then burp, as I enjoyed all its features.

They are the biggest things I have ever seen
And that's o'er all the earth, wherever I've been.

You wouldn't think that such a tiny creature like me
Would have to ever be ready to swim in a hurry.

But you know, when I really think about it I see
Just what the attraction is in a creature like me.

We are small and quick and abundantly abound
I suppose we are tasty, or they wouldn't be around.

We know that we are just simple little Krill
What we don't know is...when is the time for us to be killed.

The Corona Catastrophe

Silently shrill
a silent chill
seems to have run down the spine
of our blue planet windmill
So many deceased
Too many ill
mounting and surmounting
 the hospital bill
Breathing for many
 is like climbing uphill
or like panting on
your home treadmill
And it's frightening when
there is nil a pill.
A minute invisible
virus doth kill .
Pray to God for mercy
bow and kneel!
Many are dying
 without a will
 It's safer to stay home
 by the window sill
The world seems to have come
to a standstill
You now have time to sharpen
your poetic quill
In lockdown pray
and ink still spill
You may hone
your poetic skill
Until the virus
has had its fill.
Corona they say feels like drowning
like a fish without a gill
for we can't breathe
like the eel or krill.
In mouths hot water
flush and swill
Exterminate this virus?
only God can and will.
