Kick up your heels,
you’re in a race against time.
Take the challenge,
it’s a piece of cake.
Don’t put it off till tomorrow
or cross the bridge when you come to it.
Say what you feel.
you know you’re head over heels.
You’re running out of time.
Go right ahead,
tell that special someone
you have feelings for them.
Time flies when you’re having fun,
so don’t you wait for them to come.
Don’t wait, take your chance,
go for what you want and seize the day.
deep breadth pipers, tune up your pipes
it's Scottish party time once more
come on folks and kick up your heels
lets shake our kilts on the dance floor

the swords are crossed we stand and wait
toes pointed ready to sword dance
raise arms into an arch, stand tall.

dancers line up, applaud the food
carried in with aplomb by chefs
aroma is so very good.

Look to the north and kick up your heels
Come visit the land of polar bears and seals
That's the perception some peeps hath
These folks earn my wrath
We is edumacated and eat ordinary meals

Our journey through this life is a game of chance
Very little skill, more by happenstance
Turn the cards at the break of day, which ones to hold which ones to play
In this game called life some will win, some will lose, but be not dismayed
Hold them tight, bet them high, run that bluff, take that chance
If you lose you cry, if you win you dance; it all rides on circumstance
Smell the roses, kick the can, run the race, celebrate your friends
Love and be loved, embrace living each and every day of life, until it ends
For as surely as the sun will rise, we are dealt back in; it’s ante-up or throw them in
On our journey through this life we have but one pass, enjoy the ride, that way you win
Then kick up your heels and dance, dance, dance
Wow, for the Fall Harvest Oktoberfest Festival in my city!
Entertainment will be Oomph Polka Party tunes and many other bands.
We will try our luck at games and contests . . .
Inside tents all will gather
Lifting mugs of suds
Lifting delicious Oktoberfest sausages to our lips.
Put on your dancing shoes
And party with the many bands
Rock and Roll and Country too . . .
Take your partner- round and round you will go
Yell at the top of your lungs, its okay!
Leap and hop and
In each other arms snuggle up for a waltzy waltz . . .
Kick up your heels and have a good time, cause
Events are happening all over the city.
Take a ride with me, lets
Hop on a bus to a different pub
Enjoy the festival, but
Remember don't drink and drive
Everybody, lets toast a mug of brew, hurray . . .
Shout and stomp your feet in tune !
Never mind the headache to come
(On your back you will be moaning . . . .)
Take my hand and lets go
Oktoberfest is a day of fun, fun, fun,
Make it special- make it great!
On your toes lets do a jig
Remember we still need to do the scavenger hunt
REGRETS!! Forget all that
On this Fall Harvest Oktoberfest
We'll party like there's no tomorrow!

Acrostic/Free Verse
The crop has been harvested, the moon has turned red.
All our chores are now finished, the cows have been fed.
Time to put on our best blue jeans, spit polish our boots.
Let down our long hair, get back to our country roots.
Billy has got a banjo, Danny is a diamond on the drum,
Announcement posted at the hardware store, everybody come.
Feasting on some pumpkin bread, beer and barbeque,
Heels to the dirt dance floor, shake hands a time or two.
Peggy Sue in her sundress, Virginia has gotten a new do,
Let's listen to the dance caller to find the right dance queue.
Begin with a simple square dance, and ease the stage fright,
You can do si do your partner, bow to left and to the right.
Give a smile, your doing just fine, click them heels one more time,
One, two, three, slap your knee, listen to the musically rhyme.
Crowds around are keeping the beat, hands and boots clapping,
Spurs on the stage, instrument of choice, chiming and tapping.
Bellies are full, spirits are high, one more dance, one more rhyme.
Let the competition begin, kick up your heels. let's have a good time.
All the best dancers shuffle their feet wondering who will capture the crown,
The night heats up, crowds gather round, time for an old fashioned Hoe Down.

The world needs a little
Good news everyday
Just look on the bright side
It's better that way
Kick up your heels
Say howdy my friends
Just smile at a stranger
Your woes you'll transcend
On the verge of disaster
Show them there's hope
To look at this world
Through a much larger scope
It may be contagious
You'll start a new trend
Who knows it might happen
You'll make a new friend
I know that the cynics
Will laugh and they'll scoff
To think that us humans
Past sins we can doff
We've got to start somewhere
So why not right now
The world will stop fighting
And wars disavow
Just call me a dreamer
I welcome that name
Don't need any medals
No fortune or fame
The best compensation
A world filled with joy
Where everyone's happy
And spirits are buoyed
We can't let our efforts
Just end up in vain
We must see a world
Where happiness reigns
It's crucial for us
To succeed in this quest
Else mankind will perish
My case I do rest

Contrary to what the naysayers say
Happy is definitely a choice
So pay no attention to all those people
Kick up your heels and rejoice
This old world's been around forever
It's here for some time to come
Might as well be happy, enjoy your stay
Even if you fall on your bum
Now which scenario is more appealing
Singing and waking up with a smile
Or grumbling and always moping around
Time to stop acting like a child
There are no free passes in this here life
Must earn your trip up to Heaven
So jump on that happiness bandwagon
Contentment will be yours till the end

Time for a happy-go-lucky poem
No more doom and gloom
There's enough of that stuff going around
Life's just a big cartoon
Live and laugh and have a ball
Nothing's really gonna change
So kick up your heels and sing out loud
Though some may think you're deranged
Who knows it could be contagious
Soon the whole world will be having a ball
Imagine, you could be the reason, my friend
For peace to come to us all
Am I a dreamer, guess you could say that
Might as well try it, whatcha think
Nothing else has worked up until now
Let's try before we're right on the brink
So kick up your heels and dance around
Others will follow your lead
All the world is waiting for is someone
To step forward and plant the seed
No more doom and gloom!!!

Clear blue skies, not a single cloud
Hear me yell, whoop whoop out loud
A brand new day filled with fun
With friends galore enjoying the sun
Not a single thing can bring me down
Flying so high above the ground
Whoop whoop I yell, feel like singing
Along with the larks as they go winging
This can't be real, must be a dream
This euphoric feeling, ecstasy extreme
How lucky I am to feel such joy
Not felt like this since I was a boy
Whoop whoop I yell, kick up your heels

The songbirds chirp, praising the sun,
nestled in the leaves of the trees:
while the air is abuzz with bees.
Subduing Spring, Summer has won
with relentless sweltering heat:
while peonies bloom, smelling sweet.
Spring's short days and long nights are done
and in Summer's extended light
hatchlings fledge: preparing for flight.
It is time to go for a run,
go swimming, or tan on the beach:
while keeping sunscreen within reach.
Kick up your heels, and have some fun
partake in a game of baseball,
or go camping, it'll soon be Fall.
