Have Some Fun
Songbirds chirp praises to the sun,
hidden in the leaves of the trees;
and the air is abuzz with bees.
In its race with Spring, Summer won;
I sweat in the sweltering heat,
as peonies bloom, smelling sweet.
The short days and long nights are done;
in Summer's splendiferous light,
hatchlings fledge, preparing for flight.
It's time to relax and have fun,
go swimming or tan on the beach;
just keep some sunscreen within reach.
Kick up your heels, go for a run;
watch a friendly game of baseball,
or go camp out; it'll soon be Fall.
Songbirds chirp praises to the sun;
in its race with Spring, Summer won.
The short days and long nights are done;
it's time to relax and have fun,
kick up your heels; go for a run.
