Best Keep Apart Poems
The notes, oh the notes that soared above
The music to grab and hold the heart
A rhythm carried by the winds of life
Two things that cannot be keep apart
So feed the soul with music then
The sounds that bind us to each other
Spoken with unbroken line and phrases
Filling needs for self , for one another
In time the music will have a softer tone
But they belong together, hand and glove
The melodies will linger in each memory
Speaking softly..."If music be the food of love,
play on.."
"If music be the food of love, play on....."
Shakespeare, from- The Tempest-
They come late at night
When sleep finds not its way to my eyes
When I can't reach out to your heart
When I can't hear your side of the story
At such time, the sky, with stars, is all bright
Beautiful it is, yet, in spite of such, my heart cries
I never wanted us to keep apart
I never expected us, to be, for yesterday, so sorry
These thoughts, they do come at such a time
I then remember of how I used to rejoice being in your arms
Enjoying your torrid, loving charms
Forgetting even that the whole world does be
With glee, I did surrender to you, shouting out your name
For more, for more of all that you can give
For more of this hunger that for me, you do harbor
For more of this flame that I do see in your eyes, when you look at me
I then also remember of how life was by your side, a real solace
How I used to spend my time, choosing for your pleasure, my attire
How days and nights spent together felt like an eternal dance
Oh it is at those times, that I do let my tears flow
For in spite of our passion, I did choose to let go of your side
Maybe the culprit was none other than my pride
Capricious, a submissive one I could never be
All because you did abuse of my fragility
Late at night, thoughts of you, do keep me wide awake
My heart and soul do cry, for old time's sake
I do then wonder about the future
Shall you forgive me for this misbehavior?
Someday, I shall be with you again
Such was promised to me, once, when my soul cried
Oh yes, for such, I do have faith so bold and so strong
Yes, as while being in love, one can never, ever be wrong!

Neath the surface of the lake
there is a magical land
cool blue waters with a stake
of reeds and plants in the sand
Small silvery fish dart
prey for the bigger fish
careful to keep apart
not wanting to be bonefish
Follow them and wonder
what it would be like
to live here and ponder
on life while avoiding the pike
Here, even more, than on land
the rule is eat or be eaten
this is the real gangland
the lair of the mighty gudgeon
So, pause and reflect
life here in the raw
do not now deflect
else you end up in the jaw
Sinners, Publicans – Pharisees, Scribes
Unto neither of these could I ever subscribe
For I read of both groups in the scriptures each day,
And both make me feel to exclaim when I pray,
“God, I thank thee, that I’m not as other men are,
Like those sinners and publicans - God keep me far
From their damnable words and their damnable deeds,
And more so than this – Oh God, keep me free
From those gosh awful Pharisees - they above all
Are the worst kind of folks who are destined to fall.
But rather God keep apart from these men
And I promise that things will go on as they’ve been
Fasting two times a week, paying tithes of my gain
Doing all that I do, but I need not explain
For Thou knowest all this, and the time has come when
I must wrap this prayer up, and close with amen”
No, I’ll never be like anyone from those tribes
Not like Sinners and Publicans, Pharisees, Scribes
For I’m nothing like they. No, my time is well spent
Me, a just soul who has no need to repent

The only thing that's sleeps next to me,
Is a pillow now and occasionally,
My daughter who climbs up into bed,
Softly on my chest just to lay her head...
She's the warmest thing that I ever feel,
So enormous without the sex appeal,
Just a 6 year old but she knows the needs,
Of her father that seems to slowly bleed...
She will tell me all of the sweetest things,
Giving so much love minus all the strings,
She appreciates all the things I do,
Which alleviates any pain from you..
Any moment you take advantage of ,
She will own it so I can feel what's love,
Never asking me what is in return,
It's the last thing that's ever her concern...
It's the smallest space when I'm in my bed,
So I pretend the pillow is her instead,
Taking up what room that is in my heart,
While the others use it to keep apart...

Time like Tide, or so they say,
can wash all trace of things away.
But Time cannot wash from my heart
the aching left when some depart.
No Tide that washed upon the shore
could cleanse the wounds that time has bore.
The pain of loss of those held dear,
not Tide nor Time can disappear.
Yet with the ache, resides a love
that transcends all and flies above
erosion caused by Time and Tide,
in unison with those who’ve died.
So pain and loss go hand in hand
with love and comfort as we stand
alone, together, close but far,
for everywhere is where we are.
Time and Tide, or so they say,
can wash all trace of things away.
But Time nor Tide can keep apart
those Souls who share a common heart.

The God Behind the Curtain
By Mark D. Stucky
Curtains sometimes keep apart things that need connecting
and conceal things that, in their time, need uncovering.
“Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain,”
the hiding humbug Wizard of Oz implored in vain
when discovered by Dorothy, her dog, and companions,
revealing the true presence of the mysterious Oz.
Millenia earlier, once every year, on the Day of Atonement,
a high priest entered behind the curtain of the Holy of Holies,
where the mysterious metaphysical presence of God resided,
veiled, hidden, and isolated from the people outside the temple.
This separation and glances at glory continued for centuries,
but the moment Christ died on the cross, the earth quaked,
and that concealing temple curtain ripped wide open,
removing that separation between us and God.
Now…do pay attention to the God who was behind the curtain,
the one who inhabits Holies of Holies inside human hearts.

I know not how to guard a timid heart
from capture by the reckless wanderer,
to close it from emotion, keep apart
the helpless and the cunning conqueror.
I have not an impenetrable wall
prohibiting your entrance, have no shield
deflecting glances meant but to enthrall –
you challenged, I was all too quick to yield.
I search not inner sanctums for the will
to distance this temptation; seek not might
to hardened spirit be; look not to kill
the swell, the flames the kisses would ignite.
Resigned as such to this, the sweet demise
to never hide beneath such thin disguise.
Night brings us close unwrapping naked bodies
Of old conversation left hanging in the window
Of an empty house
This house had no tenant so long time now
You laughing from stern to bow
Your wine glass amazing pirouettes
I set to sea
But could not get pass pushing waves
It needed more than canoe to follow you
So we set sail for different poles of failure
And sometimes we washed up in the same world
New York or Fort Lauderdale, beachcomber and driftwood
Have so much pleasure in each other's hand
That was a lot of years to forget, childhood turned gray
In each barren aggregate of minutes
And love, well what was it but living, breathing clay.
We drift to and from now with the tides of conversation
Laughing and crying some is good
But I will keep the regrets unseen, what am I to do
With things that look back at me, dissecting what I should have been
My life only amounted to this after you left
Shall we dance again?
The Bee Gees still sputter in my veins
Yes there was somewhat of a life
In the silence of our praise, and we covet each other
Because we did not belong together
Although we could not keep apart
Poems are the only children I give birth
So lonely, lonely the everlasting earth
Now I must face this
Your giving up of you to the empty world of me
Dear God, keep the thorn birds away
Life is brittle, brittle as clay
If the vase is broken now, the flowers withered
Will weep forever, for there will be no coming
Again of Spring, Summer, or Autumn
I know the callousness of the weather
Nothing freezes the agony of lost forever
Yet I from a state of exploratory joy
Wash my tears with lemon rain.
I know the things and people keeping all
my spirit whole, the death of these
can only mean the death of me; the call
is blaring out the door, to me, to please
my appetite, I live to hear the sound;
the still is shattered from the note around.
The places in the country, lonely, soft
and full of crickets chirping, rabbits small
and nimble, sitting on a loft
It's here I may release the thickened wall.
The loft atop the log across the creek,
oh here the sorrowful, the deep and meek.
The people, mother, brother, friends and loves,
they all can calm my racing heart.
My soul, my lover with the air of doves,
my reckless woman who I keep apart.
A Christmas present?
Not a Christmas present!
Dude anything but a Christmas present!
I’m beggin’ ya! Not a Christmas present!
“Give me my way or I’ll show my butt!
If you don’t do what I want, I’ll send a spook.
Give me my spoiled brat way, or I’ll play the nut!
I’ll rocket test and threaten the West with a nuke.”
The guy from the crime family, that son of crossbones
As well as the guy that was elected for blowing a horn
To make brighten ill in the head’s scowl and facial tones
Payed good cash to keep apart the rose and the thorn
“Those guys bought me my ice cream cone!
And Mr. Tammany Hall himself knew to keep me happy.
You haven’t called me and now -- a tantrum to be thrown!
I need to be burped and changed, and then given a nappy.”
A Christmas present! Is it a vase?
The U.S. is ready and tired
Of thinking of the worst case
It’s about time some Un retired.
Kim Jong Un is on his last leg, on his last leg.
Kim Jong Un is on his last leg, and if we don’t like the gift,
Because he didn’t get his cake and keg, he will see the shift
From getting his way, and getting the paddle most swift
A Christmas present? Not a Christmas present!
Dude, you really shouldn’t have.
No one is completely good
even a slightest bad lies with in self
that may be unaccountable
though one is compared with an elf
appreciate all for the good qualities
love and respect all with true heart
really all are helpless even somewhere indeed
never say anything bad of others keep apart
no bad vive will have any entry
if nothing said bad is seen as not sought
less hindrance will pave your way easy
ultimately good thought will be got
surely bad thought brings bad vive
though whatever they may be there
good thought comes from good thought only
with positive thoughts needs to take care
FRIENDSHIP
of FRED and ROGER
Free Verse
Like true brothers, for many years you’re friends,
From Calabarzon to Mimaropa regions
Sharing secrets, stories and laughters
The countenance of friendship forever.
Yes, you’re growing old and your hair is gray
But your hearts remain young
you share your problems without hesitation
That makes your friendship firm and no vacillation.
You’ve found more and more comrades
Everyday as you traverse in this world so dark
But a true friend is hard to find
It's like looking for GEM underneath the ocean.
EUREKA! EUREKA!
This is what your hearts shout out loud
Do not allow your friendship to be shuttered apart
Maintain this friendship until you breathe your last
BUT WHEN YOU FART PLEASE KEEP APART.
He-he-he-he!
Why run
Why fight
Hide in the dark
Ignore the light
Find shelter
Helter skelter
Embrace the pain
Let tears reign
Cruel sin
Don't give in
Sour grin
Breathe in
Don't let greed
Rule your need
Don't care
Won't share
Hold yourself
Clutch your wealth
Can't get near
You're full of fear
Cover your heart
And keep apart
Now you're lost
That's the cost
Why run
Why fight
Hide in the dark
Ignore the light
Find shelter
Helter skelter
Embrace the pain
Let tears reign
Cruel sin
Don't give in
Hold yourself
Clutch your wealth
"don't let greed
Rule your need"
Don't care
Won't share
Breath in
With sour grin
Cover your heart
And keep apart
Now you're lost
That's the cost
