Best Intellectualism Poems

Lousy Hotel Bar

He lived in room 757
just like a haiku
thats what he said to me
just like a haiku
eesh

There’s a reason I avoid this part of town

if not for the psuedo intellectualism that spreads
faster than herpes at a swingers party
then for the cheap drinks for too much money
the door guy that thinks he deserves a tip
keeping out the ‘riffraff’ as they used to say

The Polo shirt with the Raybans over in the corner
makes eyes at the one girl his buddies brought to the bar
if he plays his cards right
he might just have a chance

and why not?
Did I walk into a bar
or some sort of reality show
where are the cameras and who’s
ing with me?

The carbon copy cut outs of people all staged around the place
talking about haikus
and their twitter account
and their many followers
not my scene as I head to the door

As a pick up from my coat from the check
the girl tells me to have a good night
I doubt it
no one writes Haiku’s anymore

You can tell who writes from the heart -- there is a living quality to those works transcending mere Intellectualism.

He walks with his heart on his sleeve,
so us poets can find reprieve
He is always a verse-maker with creative flair
and his mind works like a sieve
Joe is a souper who is no duper he's real,
as real as the heartfelt poems he weaves.
Dimino I quote says, " In fact all of love,
cannot fit on a shelf nor a continent in itself.
His soul is so grand that it soars,
like a kite in full height, ...like a prayer.
Joe is a string of pearls lit up by the dazzle of his stay,
when he phrases his stories just right,
he brings forth so much light.

Adroit Android

Adroit Android

Somewhere between the outer limits and twilight zone
Operating within acceptable parameters of functionality
Sam Android, according to his name plate
Etched along his metallic neck and back
Came from outer space with an agenda
He did not come to serve mankind
He did not come in peace, either
This android had something other on his mind
Programmed by another species
In their image and intelligence
Sam Android gathered information of a certain kind
Reconnaissance of metals is what he is exploring
Shopping for refined alloys and powders
Our scientists wanted to dissect him like a bug
To see what makes it tick with little love and lots of tricks
Androids do not like to be touched by strangers
Clearly printed in the manual he came with
Our technicians studied it and everything found on his space ship
Before they flipped its switch and turned him on
Once activated, there was no off switch, no turning back
Sam had two bright cobalt eyes that came alive
Absorbed everything in sight
In that cold and calculating way of extraterrestrials
It moved quickly with precision and intellectualism
In a nice calm voice it told the soldiers and scientists to move back
When they did not, and by the way, it only said it once
Then opened fire with a laser gun
Penetrated all the walls of the facility of knowledge and higher study
We learned a potent lesson about adroit androids from outer space
They are clever, savvy, do not like to be touched
Or say things twice
We must listen to our cosmic friend
Who could not have been more succinct and clear
Before it blew our buildings and men away
He came here for the metals and other alloys
Communicating with eloquence and in good form
Androids are adroit, programmed that way

Book: Radiant Verses: A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry

Reflections: Intellectualism

To Dine, To Die;
Conversations spiral
While thunderous eyes
Grasp concepts to recycle.

Constant debt crisis
A political paradox
Grating social devices
Over the sorting of socks.

Pseudo-analysis
An endless groan
Argumental paralysis
The debate grants no throne.

Existentialism
Over a roast
Potatoes won't listen
To who talks the most.

"That point is so interesting"
The floor is open for chat
"What is real?" not a thing
"Meow" adds the cat.

Crazy World

Crazy World

It’s funny how
The universities are still in business
Of producing graduates
That speak funny English
And hardly make invention
And the stock market falls
Down street tumbles
That lets people buy
And make profit
Like grandpa used to say,
True intellectualism died
In the year 1929
With the rise in acumen inflation
It was then that
This Federal Reserve of Ignorance
The true villain of this quandary
Traces its genesis
Hope that explains succinct
This universal impotence

As They Leave (1)

As they leave,
They leave for us
Calabash full of sorrow and agony
They leave for men a plate of frustration
And desperation.

As they leave
They leave for women nothing
But cups of tears and fears

As they leave
They leave for old ones a basket
Full of fruits of ultimate death and shame

As they leave
They leave for workers a big bowl
Of empty promises, unpaid salaries
And incessant strike actions

As they leave
They leave for students a stabbed
And crippled students’ union,
Ramshackle and “Renopainted”
Halls of Residence

As they leave
They leave for our generation a loss compass
From which we can find and rediscover our
Moral values, valuable culture
Instincts of deliberative governance and
Leadership cum administrative acumen

As it is
We are living with fear of gbu-a-gbu-a
Of daylight gunshot of the emboldened to
Extort, encouraged to maim and induced to kill
Ultra-fascists campus cult groups commissioned
To crush all seeming oppositions

As is it
We are living with:-
Biochemists without reagents
Microbiologists without modern microscopes
Linguists without modern language laboratory
Computer students without
Being opportune to hold a mouse
Physiologists without bloodbank.

As it is
We are living with
Dike archaic books and non books materials
Students and staff basking in the euphoria
Of stone age and ancient facilities.

As it is
We are living in a garden that detest truth
Genuine intellectualism, dissent views and
Contrary opinions but rather nourishes in
Multi-colour ignorance, white lies,
Ever green concocted disortions,
Oceanic blu-i-sh sycophancy and reddish intolerance
Which is only reminiscences of the black jackboot
Days of the Abacha junta.

Poetic Ink

In my hand the ink drips,
commotional emotions at large,
patches has failed.
Nails and swords, pierce the hearing ear,
fussed drops of lethal dose,
push me to the edge,
for adrenaline chokes my conscience,
lead tracks,
Perforation of daunted untrampled dark corners of my mind,
diffuse me from this dungeons,
Let the near and afar witness
and preserve my presence
for days have surpassed others unrecorded,

I'm poetic ink,
unleash and infiltrate the soul
for the present to inherit the marks,
Was just an ink, they said,
Lil to their knowledge,
This is a force to be reckoned with,
if today imparts none,
Tommorow might be in vain,
shallow and void,
the ink drips.
Feed the soul for the mind is unguided and clouded by rage, assert the uncertain, pull me closer for the desire is ravenous.

Hand me the cannon, mass distraction at need.
I blow the missiles my presence is not for the immediate
but the wild and beastly,
human essence at awe,
look and listen,
read and understand,
this ink echoes, wisdom
and intellectualism.
breed the inbred.

My crime would not go unpunished,
spilling the ink is my servitude,
don't wanna account for my silence,
for I'm delegated,
to empty this ink before my return,
dust to dust, ash to ashes,
none must pass here before bowing
and acknowledging the spillage,
for I am poetic ink.

Premium Member My God, Thank You For Winning My Battles

February 28 Scripture Meditations Based on 1Samuel 17-20

Key Verse – 1Samuel 17:47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD'S, and he will give you into our hands.

MY GOD, THANK YOU FOR WINNING MY BATTLES

Thank You for winning my battles against carnality
Enabling me to fight over lusts’ iniquity
By Your power so mighty
Letting me overcome vanity’s infirmity.

Thank You for winning my battles against unbelief
Enabling me to triumph over doubts’ grief
By Your truth of assurance chief
Letting me subdue joyfulness’ thief.

Thank You for winning my battles against haughtiness
Enabling me to succeed over pride’s destructiveness
By Your example of humility and meekness
Letting me submit with willingness.

Thank You for winning my battles against materialism
Enabling me to profit over earthly gains’ imperialism
By Your wealth eternal beyond humanism’s intellectualism
Letting me endeavour toward contentment’s optimism.

Thank You for winning my battles against jealousy
Enabling me to tread over envy’s fervency
By Your gracious mercy and loving clemency
Letting me pursue after godly satisfaction’s persistency.

Thank You for winning my battles against indolence
Enabling me to serve over convenience and comfort’s insolence
By Your propelling instruction of inspiration-prevalence
Letting me practice diligence with weariness’ silence.

Premium Member Anti-Intellectualism, BEING THERE

I never think my thoughts deep thoughts --
though I'm no Peter Sellers, they are
but common trite reactions. l do not live
an examined philosophic life; nor have I
focused, fathomed understanding.

But -- there is, everywhere, wide-eyed blank confusion --
crowds that do not listen, do not hear, cannot ken --
that do not choose even NOT to grasp
what is shown, or read, said, or written.

While reveling in company that towers
oh! so high in intellectual singularity --
such myriad dazzling talents! -- alas! I
am only still another erstwhile
Chauncey Gardiner.

Envoi: Where are (perhaps in hiding?)
our popular current Feynmans -- Sagans --
Hawkings -- even Einsteins? Now I will --
I must ! -- ask: think YOU that ignorance
might NOT be bliss?

September 7 Scripture Meditations Based on Malachi 1-4

Key Verse – Malachi 1:2 I have loved you, saith the LORD…

MY GOD, THANK YOU FOR LOVING ME

Thank You for loving me even though I’m impoverished in sinfulness
Because of my carnal stubbornness…
I repent from naughtiness’ haughtiness
As You uphold me by Your gentle kindness.

Thank You for loving me even though I’m afflicted with iniquity
Because of my idolatrous infirmity…
I repent from vanity’s futility
As You cleanse me by Your sanctifying purity.

Thank You for loving me even though I’m unfaithful against standards
Because of my complacent attitude not good for stewards…
I repent from slothfulness’ regards
As You pull me to improve by Your training safeguards.

Thank You for loving me even though I’m inconsistent in serving
Because of my worldly involving…
I repent from selfishness’ cleaving
As You restrain me by Your gracious driving.

Thank You for loving me even though I’m unsuccessful in discipleship
Because of my lack of wholehearted followership…
I repent from hypocrisy’s intervention during worship
As You deal with me by Your guiding partnership.

Thank You for loving me even though I’m disobedient to holy vision
Because of my faithless decision…
I repent from unbelief’s malfunction
As You transform me by Your working perfection.

Thank You for loving me even though I’m tempted toward humanism
Because of my proud grip for intellectualism…
I repent from revival’s pessimism
As You teach me by Your biblical theism.

Premium Member My God, Thank You For Filling Me With Your Spirit

January 21 Scripture Meditations Based on Exodus 31-35

Key Verse – Exodus 31:3 And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship.

MY GOD, THANK YOU FOR FILLING ME WITH YOUR SPIRIT

Thank You for filling me with Your Spirit of heavenly wisdom
As I seek first Your kingdom
In my desire to enjoy salvation-freedom
Midst worldliness’ ignorance and humanism’s boredom.

Thank You for filling me with Your Spirit of divine understanding
As I read Your Word with truth’s finding
In my devotion to learn from Your love’s tending
Midst hatred and bitterness’ destructive binding.

Thank You for filling me with Your Spirit of biblical knowledge
As I strive to apply Your precepts I mindfully acknowledge
In my decision to abide in Your standards’ privilege
Midst intellectualism and logic’s reasoning espoused by secular college.

Thank You for filling me with Your Spirit of perfect workmanship
As I labour in producing acceptable fruits of stewardship
In my diligence to harvest service-yields through Your partnership
Midst slothfulness and complacency that hinder real worship.

Thank You for filling me with Your Spirit of meaningful transformation
As I manifest proofs of my Christian conversion
In my dedication to win souls and build lives with Your compassion
Midst trials and hardships in ministry-function.

Thank You for filling me with Your Spirit of revival
As I continue to do Your will while waiting for Your arrival
In my delight to please You through faith-exercises’ festival
Midst doubts’ upheaval and unbeliefs’ interval.

Premium Member Inside Out

Digital fuzz in my ears
And I'm blowing bubbles
Watching them burst
In mirrored sunlight

This is what you get
Take it from the bottom
And tear it up to the top
Such fractured intellectualism

They call me a whore
Because I inject dictionary entries
They call me pissant
Because I'm too idealist

Paint streaks of black
In the midday sky
Corruption bred from innocence
And innocence bred from naivety

Ridicule my visage
Insult my scientific method
Reject my joy
Inebriate my passion

Deconstruct a lifetime
Within mere seconds
And it hurts so bad
It hurts so bad

Everything up is down
Everything east is west
Everything inside is out
Everything so vile

Drill holes in my head
Let the demons out to play
If it makes you happy
Just watch me cry

Nostalgia

Nostalgia

The moment I was here
I got the handshakes of kings
I got the hugs of queens
The moment I was here
I received a tap on my back
From those ahead of me in intellectualism

The moment I was here
I got the doses of wisdom
Necessary to climb the ladder of success
The moment I was here
I was told the secrets of success
I was imbibed with the spirit of resilience

The moment I was here
I shared jokes with friends and colleagues
Laughing and smiling momentarily
I rubbed minds with future leaders
Discussing the future of our domicile

Premium Member My God, Thank You For Directing My Paths

June 10 Scripture Meditations Based on Proverbs 3

Key Verse – Proverbs 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

MY GOD, THANK YOU FOR DIRECTING MY PATHS

Thank You for directing my paths toward righteousness’ fruitfulness
Against sinfulness and wickedness
Despite rebelliousness as well as stubbornness
Enabling me to forsake selfishness with Your holiness.

Thank You for directing my paths toward salvation’s favour
Against hell-torture and tormenting fire’s endeavour
Despite religiosity as well as humanism’s savour
Enabling me to walk along Your heavenly avenue with spiritual fervour.

Thank You for directing my paths toward understanding’s grace
Against confusion and doubt’s trace
Despite intellectualism as well as professionalism’s brace
Enabling me to serve You with Your goodness’ praise.

Thank You for directing my paths toward blessings’ delight
Against departure and escape from chastisements’ sight
Despite frustration as well as losses’ plight
Enabling me to experience Your peace around Your guiding light.

Thank You for directing my paths toward honour’s integrity
Against shame and embarrassment caused by iniquity
Despite awfulness as well as unpleasantness of pride’s vanity
Enabling me to humble down before Your authority.

Thank You for directing my paths toward plenteousness’ increase
Against scarcity and poverty with advancing grease
Despite crises as well as nothingness full of void-crease
Enabling me to trust Your Word that fully frees.

Amandla Stanberg : Burning Heart

Your pupils are like the sun
When peeping at prime of the day-
Liveliness it strikes in turn,
As her gaze touches the summer's day.

Your smiles are like honey,
But not like honey:
Sweetening a battered heart.
Yet, it's your cheapest art.

Your voice is the communion
Of the waves and the sea,
Apt communication,
Driving attention in crazed velocity.

Your steps are like the gazelle's,
A point in time: another the next.
Comportment of aligned structures:
The most contentious infrastructure.

Extended intellectualism in sensitive fares,
Amandla the burning heart, thoughts trailing tears.
