On white washed cobble
a cricket creeping along ~
old man stooped and bent.
My hubby let the dogs out and sprained his ankle on the step.
Then for days he hobbled around on that foot, stubborn yet.
Definitely not getting better I got him a crutch at the store.
For twelve hours it sat there not doing much, after being procured.
But then he picked it up with grumbles, of that you can be sure.
Now it’s become fun to make up stories to keep his friends adrift.
Would you believe he stepped into an interdimensional rift?
Or how about I got mad and kicked him in the shins, ouch!
Or the dogs bit his leg as he took my sons homework from their mouth.
It must have been a great paper or tasted like meat sauce.
Or it happened in the basement while he was wrestling with the Trolls.
Perhaps he followed a group of Lemmings to a place he shouldn’t go.
Yes, he’s my hobble hubby and I love him oh so much.
With his imagination life is never dull as my heart he does touch.
And occasionally he balances on one foot and tells coworkers…
He’s practicing his Karate Kid flamingo move or such…
And he’s warned me he’d be safer if he could only find reverse.
Yep, he’s on his way to recovery with just the right amount of smiles.
Heaven help us as he continues to entertain us with his wiles.
Believe me, his imagination will bloom as time continues on.
Now if you’ll excuse me…I have to go catch up…for like he says…
He hobbles like the wind and it’s really hard to keep up.

Written for Cedarville Librarian Julie.
Absolutely no pressure on that knee for 6 weeks.
They gave me crutches
Hobble, hobble, hobble. to the door.
Husband waiting for me,
luckily.
I woke at nine.
Felt like , head ache and can’t get over it, Tylenol,
Hobble, hobble, hobble.
Decided to take a shower took more than a hour.
Hobble, hobble, hobble.
Half an hour to get dressed.
Hobble, hobble, hobble.
Made a cup pf tea and spilled it on me.
Hobble, hobble, hobble.
Dropped the cup, it smashed on the floor.
Tea everywhere but mop is by the door
Hobble, hobble, hobble
I’ll use the mop as a crutch,
but I fell on the floor.
Hobble, hobble, hobble.
Can’t use a mop for a crutch no more.
But i left my crutch by the door.
Hobble, hobble, hobble.
I looked everywhere,
I can’t find the dust pan and broom
Hobble, hobble, hobble.
I sat in the chair, stared at the tea spilt everywhere.
Hobble, hobble, hobble.
Dust Pan, broom and mop in hand
But I can’t bend over to a pick up any damn thing.
Hobble, hobble, hobble.
So I just sit in the chair.
Hobble, hobble, hobble.
Saved by a bell, the phone started to ring
Its on the bed across the room
But I can’t stand up to get the damn thing.
Hobble, hobble, hobble.
I reached the phone and they hung up
Why, why why is this happening to me.
I dropped the phone, slipped and fell into the tea.
Hobble, hobble, hobble wobble splat.
The dog came over and wanted to play
I couldn’t… so she dragged my crutch away
Hobble, hobble, hobble.
So, I lay on the floor, in the tea, and the dog
kept licking my face and sitting on me.
Hobble, hobble, hobble.
I had to roll and roll to pick up my crutch.
Time to go to work,
Hobble, hobble, hobble to door.
Five minutes or more fo open car door.
Hobble, hobble, hobble to door.
Can’t use accelerator and brake on the floor
Not too late to stay at home,
Dewi Decimal system awaits.
Hobble, hobble, hobble
Seven-minute drive becomes forty-four.
Cant climb stairs, need help, so ill call.
, I left my phone on the chair by the door
So, I must Hobble, hobble, hobble
For five weeks more.

There's a tendon in my calf rhymes with my surname
I call it my a- Gillies
Most would know it's common name
connecting to the ankle the achilles
Two months have been unable to do a daily run
an hour so of fun
This right tendon has been torn I am forced to limp
Finding alternative exercise no desire to be a wimp
Each day the injury receives some heat
my leg upon a stool my bum upon a seat
With hot water I fill a water bottle
Most unusual for me to have to hobble
