Dancing with Joan Jett

Dancing with Joan Jett
Dancing close with Joan Jett is so wild, it’s 1989 and we go head to head. I’m the teen kid by the juke box and she is my wet dream in black leather, one foot in front of me. Pure bloody ecstasy. Garage music blares out of the speakers and we spin around, my arm catching her waist. Closer we draw; a kiss. First of many.
Joan and Nick. Who would have thought it? Rock n roll music heroine meets a Lancashire lad in an intimate spit and sawdust gig venue in a nameless town. It happened, was happening now. 25 July 1989. A day before I was eighteen.
By chance I got her gig ticket, last minute rush. Left my crap job and mental northern town and took the train to see Her, Joan Jett. My teen rock goddess singing live. How many guys wanted a piece of her? And a few gals too. Black leather, boots and an awfully short skirt...
And that black hair. Joan looked like a Goth. Her music wasn’t as dark and was more accessible. Darkness would come later, lots of it.
For now, I danced close with Joan Jett. My head in her hair, eyes shut. Holding her like there was no tomorrow. Another kiss and I was smitten. No one would ever believe me, if I told them: ‘Hey, I danced close with Joan Jett. And we kissed...’
Never mind what happened later... that’s our secret. Yes I still do love her, am in love...
...with Joan Jett.

The Eyes of Your Heart

He provides a way out for the broken,
and opens the eyes of hearts unspoken,
and leads us past what our earthly eyes see,
the power of His love that sets us free,
holding us in ways we can't understand,
in knowing not everything is meant for us to comprehend,
only in what he allows us to view,
always through His spirits timing and truth,
characteristics we've asked to understand,
giving us a mirrored reflection of the ones we all have,
issues of the heart we would rather not face,
but sometimes God will allow to come out to restart with grace,
to humble us in ways beyond the world views,
stripping our hearts of strife to turn our eyes back to you,
a muted voice that needed to speak,
the healing begins at the hearts release,
hushed away, the excessive silence,
the covered up perfection of the world that blinds us,
hiding away our voice that God gives our hearts to speak,
breaking chains of bondage...opression's silence decreased,
extrovert and introvert go head to head,
it balances out....the extremes of the strongholds are dead...

Traversing The Lucky Country

Exploring the suburbs at Melbourne
Glad are the late nights’ burnt

Bustling Bourke Street Mall
Epitome of a retail therapy’s call

The archaic Flinder’s Station
Scheduling warrants attention

Cho-chooing to Sydney
Never costs a kidney

The surmountable Clothes Hanger
Climbing it is not a head-banger

The romantic Sydney harbour
Releases lovers’ masquerade and cover

The stunning Opera House
Pit stop onwards to the south

The flora of the Botanical Garden
Seemingly children running at kindergarten

The national parks of Wollongong
Hitting the musical notes of the gong

Rekindling memories of Bosman’s Bay
Is a paradise comes what may

Forgoing the isle of Tasmania
That would be the fear of Cradle Mountain mania

In the southern city of Hobart
Where we could relish a tart

Sailing off to Perth
That was never my berth

Discovering the untouched Fremantle
Goes to show an adventurer’s mantle

Diving the Great Barrier Reef
Provides a temporary relief

Coasting the white beaches of Gold Coast
The locals are but good hosts

Annihilated by the waves of the Pacific
Almost make thee panic

Crisscrossing the plains of Adelaide
Part of the best plans’ laid

Allure of the Red Centre
Australia’s stunning epicentre

In the midst of a red desert
Harbour hopes to return and not divert

Discovering the monumental Alice
Go head to head with some malice

Sailing across Katherine’s Gorge
The fissures is a sight to watch

The northern tip of Darwin
Just like the pinnacle wanting to win

Ode to the Northern Territory
A journey of national geographic really

Viva the land of Oz
Paradise and grandiose she was

C.A.G.E.D.(Chains Are Gripping Everyday)

In this cage there's no room
Dark all around like a cocoon
I wish to break free soon
Fly up up and away so high I can reach the moon
But somehow my agility
And overall ability
For unlimited mobility is affected
My freedom so highly disrespected
My limbs gripped by the chains
So tight I can't feel the blood rush to my brain
The pain
Leaves me in disdain
I pounce on these bars my skin covered in stains
The scratching of my claws
And paws
Echo
The chains won't let go
Hunter to hunted
Predator to prey
Locked up and threw away the key, I'm blocked from every way
Can't maul
Can't growl
Chewed bones in a pile
My future looks vile
It's a feast
Swallow them whole now they live in the belly of the beast
The scars from the whips are the mark of the beast
Too bad they overlooked my healing factor like Wolverine
My head is chopped off like I met the guillotine
I wish i could cause mayhem
Carnage
Anarchy
The damage is so chaotic
The sounds of the screams
So melodic
Hitting the cage of life with forceful tackles
I'm being held by the shackles
Vigorously
Viciously
The thought of execution keeps up with me
I can go head-to-head with a cobra
Call me mongoose
I am forever caged like a beast
These chains won't let loose
Bulldozer can't make me fall
Neither can a wrecking ball
Lord help me out of this cage
But for what price
You take your pick
We switch places you get the cage
And I get the crucifix...

The Champ

she's a fighter, she's been fighting all her life; she's fought off those boys that just want to
get in her pants. she's fought off the people who said she didn't have a chance. she was
going to be somebody and that was a fact. see she's destined to be the worlds champ. she
had plans to go head to head with layla ali. but then reality hit her way under the belt. she
never gave up she kept fightin' and fightin'. but she went soft on 'em kid, and he kept coming
strong. first and second round you know who it was all about. but it must have caught up
cause third round it knocked her out. he hit her with something she couldn't beat. he beat the
worlds champ, he figures he got it made. because the champ was just given aids. she can
fight all she want, she can swing left and she can swing right. but the truth of the matter is
the champ got beat tonight.

Big man on campus

Two Greek fraternities will battle it out.
Go head to head in a do or die bout.
They will prove their manhood with different games.
Against each other they will make slanderous claims.

The Greeks on the right are traditionalists and aggressive.
The Greeks on the left are open-minded and progressive.
These two houses are the biggest in the school,
so who ever wins will have unquestionable rule.

The rules are simple, their will be 3 rounds,
so the first to win 2 gets to rule these grounds.
The first challenge is, see who can raise more cash.
They have five hours, so they ask students in a dash.

After five hours, the judge collects the revenue.
Now it is onto round number two.
In this round you must get faculty teachers on your side.
So they all hurried off to make them decide.

The last challenge is getting students to join their pride.
So they go out and offering things they can't provide.
When it is all said and done,
it comes down to only one.

As they wait, they realize it doesn't matter who they choose.
They realize that no matter what the ultimately lose.
They took their money, divided their staff,
and separated the students in half.
The houses took something that was once great,
divided it and turned it into a unrecognizable state.

Lost and Found

Lost in your voice
Surfing every word
My mind drowned in a dream
Where we are together in a perfect world.

Discovered by your touch
As it detonates my skin
My heart pauses as you gently tempt me
To explore the person beyond first seen.

Drifting in and out of your eyes
Traveling every line of time as you smile
Doubt and hope go head to head inside
As I tease the thought of what might.

Hiding from the ripples of relationships past
As your warmth feeds the thought
That maybe in these first few seconds
We could discover a lifetime that lasts.

Eclipse

Lost in the black abyss
that is my mind
is where my thoughts
deep down you'll find.
Dark and Light
at constant battles.
Survival is all
that really matters.
When good and evil
go head to head
How do you decide
which side to defend.

respect

You think I'm arrogant
when I go head to head,
but I don't want you to just listen...

Go on, say what you said
but this time...prove it!

Come on and act convicted
prove you believe in it.
Impress me with your words.

Respect is what you'll get,
if you equal my stubborness.
You'll get what you deserve.

Don't you dare
even think
to give in to me!

Keep your confident stare,
be frank,
equal me.

Go on:
give me your best shot,
everything that you've got.
Every last ounce,
stir it all around
cuz you're gonna need it
to stand up to me.

No matter what you've got
I'll double it
and if not...
respect.
