Premium Member A Kiss of Honor, a Memorial Day Tribute

Frantic searching for my sanity as the odor of explosives and burning flesh assault my soul. Longing for the boredom of stuffy barracks my eyes my friends constantly search for your return I hide all but fear.

We know the death of friends but in our life embrace we conceal all that is deferred for recollection in our final days. For now bravado, lots of scotch, and a Thai stick sets the pattern for our only security.

Lost are the joys of spirit we envisioned as children; gone is the clarity and respect for lives easily expended in the most secret of a nation’s honor, generalities served in a bitter beer.

I know you friend, your dreams your plans you say them softly in your sleep. Our prayers to will keep you safe.

We dare to plan in-country encouraged by being too short not to let our minds drift at the possibilities.

We hope that God is truly on our side and confess only in our eyes the sins we speak to no one.

The blood of those we do not know anoints the heads of those we do and love for now, until our final taps brings us home.

With this kiss of honor I embrace what remains of you my friend and your courage. I curse your departure and salute the honor of our time together.

Premium Member Sonnet For Her

You asked once to what did I attribute
how long our marriage has lasted, I replied
with guarded generic generalities to contribute
to the conversation, and to save my hide,
cause I learned long ago to watch out for innocent
sounding questions as experienced husbands do.
But I did, and continue to give it much serious intent,
which is itself one reason. I see that there are few
couples that after they learn each others foibles and
failings continue to take one another seriously
as we do. Our long conversation does not end
at a particular moment or good-bye and obviously
we are always taking care of one another even when we
are not talking. In the end I think that is the key.

Seven Generalities of Single Adults Without Dependents:

1. Mortality Recognition
2. Hedonism
3. Apathy
4. Restlessness
5. Historic Amnesia
6. Recklessness/Experimentation
7. Meta-Identity

Emotional Attraction

EMOTIONAL ATTRACTION

While in this world it seems opposites have attraction
Male - female, plus - minus, north - south, captain and crewman
Between these terminals, force yielded by interaction
Drives the machines of existence material and human

Another vector impels not by contrast causation
Draws together the similar and those of perceived relativity
Thus species, races, interests, languages and nations
Coalesce, combine, blend and merge with close affinity

In human life, its creations, exchange, let alone sin
Our actions and products are coloured by our emotion
Thus what attracts tends to match what we feel within
This accord can account for affection or even devotion

But away with these generalities and abstractions
So before your eyes are completely glazed, near closure
A case: those who find dismal poems to have an attraction
Have within themselves some sadness they're not yet over

As it's been observed, behind faces of calm insulation
There may be hidden emotions well concealed
Many living lives of quiet desperation
That are, in their responses, unwittingly revealed

Glittering Generalities

GLITTERING GENERALITIES

I vow that you will be happily effected
If I am elected by your selection
At the forthcoming election.
With great dedication
I shall diligently bother
To uphold the glory of this great nation
Founded by our forefathers!
National debt,
Is dragging us under,
Forlornly unmet,
Tearing us asunder!
I shall keep economy healthy
By reducing taxes on the wealthy,
And allowing banks to freely operate
With no control of interest rates.
I shall supply for those who behave
Complete care, cradle to the grave.
Increased medical care for the elderly,
Even youth, rash and pimply.
Our democracy will be securely laid
In backward nations
By increasing foreign aid,
And greater exportation.
I’m a strong proponent of women’s rights.
Against abortion I will continue to fight.
We’ll peacefully solve disputes
By fair judiciary
And dig out their roots
By increased military.
So, as you can see
As I’ve said repeatedly,
It is my intention
To reduce government intervention,
So that we can get
Out of our national debt.

Tomorrow Is the Tenth Anniversary of 9-11

The Tenth Anniversary of 9-11 is Tomorrow

By Elton Camp

There are many who don’t know what to do
It’s possible that individual panic will ensue
And to be open about it, I would have to admit
If I lived in NYC or DC, I would be having a fit

Perhaps I would find a reason to be out of town
But denying belief that harm would come around
I might assert confidence that we’re well protected
So, by the government and evil plot will be detected

But better safe than sorry I then decide that I’ll be
And so to a more unlikely target I will quietly flee
For there may come to be a blast so horribly loud
Followed by a mushroom-shaped radioactive cloud

In a couple of days, what happens all will know
If true, I can claim that, “In advance I told you so.”
For that is how a bogus prophet can come to be
Make predictions in generalities and wait and see

That is how Nostradamus came to have such fame
Keep it vague so that others his accuracy acclaim
So, if tomorrow, an atomic device should explode
Gullible may exclaim, “About it that guy knowed.”

But if this “prediction” proves to be entirely rotten
Then this write will be quickly and entirely forgotten
And so, if it is still possible, to CNN please tune in
Perhaps you will hear of my “prediction” once again

An Old Lady

In Church today at the dawn of morning light,
she sat in front of me
hunching over just a little to my right.
Pale, frail, mottled unfolded hands,
with hint of a slight tremor
she fingered the hymnal rising unsteadily to stand.
I watched her as she struggled with the pages
searching for the song the choir sang
with desire to sing as she had in past ages.
Age had stolen much from her
   some memory, health and time
spryness and agility now remain only a blur.
Her vision bore images of youth and boundless energy
lost in the memories of a life lived well
that now waned from illness, age and generalities.
She was on the slide of time
chasing it down around the hidden corners
the twists and turns and unexpected blessings sublime.
In my ponderings I recognize the truths expressed
with close friends, loved ones and family
she was and is surrounded by what is always best.
At her side, they gently guided each and every step
patient and directing her so not to let her fall
filled with love and life, faith at its very depth.
What miraculous a goal with nothing to append
all done satisfied and close in reach,
complete achieving all at the journeys end

Life Changing

All you need to know is that things change
But it isnt just things that do it, its everything
No matter the size or depth normal becomes strange
And its always for the better and worst despite hoping

In our reality there is no black and white anymore
There is only change and influence and pressure
History may repeat but it will never be exactly like before
Though there is stability in change that comes in a certain measure

One can fall in and find something that makes them climb out
It feels so heavy to the individual yet its just change to the population
And dont expect this to tell what all this change is about
Because there are no specifics or generalities just a sensation

The hardest thing i think is the acceptance in this instance
Being okay with what is different seems impossible
But i think that in the end we will see its true importance
Because with age and wisdom everythings somewhat plausible

Or maybe understanding of change comes with thought
All i know is my life still has many twists and turns ahead
But i hope that this true love in the end is what i got
And this is actually all i really wanted to be said

The Fine Print Always Ruins That Glint of Hope- Part 3

On the rainy days I wind gently through the streets
Trying desperately to greet every new person I should meet
My demeanor screams of defeat
Just not the best person in this world to meet
But if you have the time my voice shall chime in your ears
I’ll bring hope to your greatest fears
You will talk and I shall chalk my theories in to your mind
At the end of the day I stray to my favorite dinner
Where the conversation gets finer
The waitress cracks a smile for every one liner I throw her
I pay my check in order to get on my way
The waitress always tells me I hope you find a better day
And I answer baby don’t you worry if I get through another winter
Spring will come carried on the back of May
Then things might start going my way

On long nights I fill up a lonely ash tray
I tap my foot that’s all it ever took and I’m on my way
Documenting the event of each and every day
Paying close attention to mention each and every piece
Like greased-lightening my pondering’s are biting down to leave a scar
Not so straight like bars
More like lines on a map we use to find our way in cars
Sorry folks I wish I could choke up a hoax
But reality always pokes its ugly head out
In all fairness what better thing to write about

A sprinkle of doubt
A small amount of longing carefully measured out
Finally a dash of hope
My personal recipe to cope with this thing we call life
Let us speak in generalities they come with much lower fees
If you should look you shall find the devil seems inclined to hide in the details
And the fine print never fails to ruin our beloved fairytales

The Spirit Realm

Glimpses into the future:
A confusing mist clouds the conscious
Wishing for clarity
But receiving only blank stares of cruel misguiding
Signs
Soulless shrouds made from memories remind
Me of how to forget regret and
Remember occurrences of importance from
Mindful events happening out of
Chronological order

Ghosts from the past haunt the future
Because superfluous audacities result in my
Anxious proclivities
A newer reflection of mirrored reactions result from
	Actions undone and committed
Longstanding traditions obliterated in favor of
	Bold conquests
Time traveling thoughts bring uncertainty to an
	Already troubled mind
Revelations seclude me in the isle of exiled genius
A beauteous punishment for a once
	Silent persona of strange
	Ideals

Spirits goad, burst from a reclusive shell
	Of apathetic spirits’
	Generalities
Of the future look to we for new hope
I cannot fail

Shrinks Beware Karma

I
here lie the remains of savior-imposters
lots of canned answers from textbooks
they knew: peace & reconciliation will be their ruin
so, divorce or hate, were prolonged a tad
shrinks who didn't show you peace and reconciliation ...
until you'd paid their bank loan first!

II
here lie the greedy bones of quacks (OK, not quite)
like Sigmund Freud their father, for eyes: "holes"
That saw the complex world through sexual roles
Just like horoscope peddlers, these too got it right -
generally - who has use for generalities with abortion?

Lives diverge.
Maybe that's a core rule;
the child leaves the parent,
or worse, the parent leaves the child.
Either way there is emptiness somewhat like a death.
Whatever the circumstances, the relationship is changed forever.
Distance is both literal and emotional; voices become cautious
(She doesn't need to know about that.), opacity arrives.
What were once specifics become generalities.
And so it goes...

Sometimes, in weak generalities we talk.
We believe in TV, podcasts or social networking?
Far from making us genius political hawks.
Believing, seeking out a new, far more weak king?

Dementia dances across our blaring screens.
Nobody mentions the eight hundred Chicago dead?
Falls and forgetfulness do reign supreme.
While naught but propaganda dances in our heads.

The Nazis removed all civil rights!
Fascism is guite alive and well here today.
Best read up on how anyone could be shot on sight.
Lies infected most bright brains, alright!

Good, working people are considered bad?
If not dirt poor, you are considered a creep.
Better wake up, we have been more than had!
For my country, America, I weep!

Oh Hillary, dear Hillary what did I hear
Your emails were given without any care
The powers that be have relented this truth
To empower your foes with the absence of couth

Oh Hillary, dear Hillary what did you say
More "glittering generalities" one could absorb in a day
Just listening and knowing that the general facts
Have no fidelity or sincerity when down to brass tacks

Oh Hillary, dear Hillary your words should take heed
Perverting their meaning by twisting their deed
To make claims of human kindness with your heart fully filled
With the ice of deceit and a soul that is nil

Oh Hillary, dear Hillary you seem larger than life
But the facts of the matter are way more than rife
Your little mind, soul and heart is piteous at best
To think you can fool all of us is one naive, shortsighted and ill-advised test!

Oh Hillary, dear Hillary you're like a chick out of its nest
Your posture cannot cure, nor your clothes deceive the best
Of the denizens of state that require you to be strong
When deep down inside you indistinctly don't belong.
