A Poet's Gift
A poet writes to share a secret depth
Of feelings within their soulful breast.
They write to grasp onto immortality,
To be remembered beyond their death.
A poet shares emotions inked upon the
Page that cannot verbally be conveyed.
They dwell in a world of dreams, of dark
And light, of imagination, of metaphors,
Where heartbreak heaves and love believes.
Poets dwell where nature inspires, and
Longing desires may elevate or decimate.
They feel compelled to write day or night
From their innate state of expressiveness.
Music, dance, and art entwined, are all a part
Of creating that sonnet, free verse or rhyme
Which may capture hearts in belabored sigh,
Cause tears to well, the heart to swell, joy to
Bloom, cause lovers to swoon in blissful reverie.
Poetry...the greatest gift a poet yearns to share
With sensitivity, with their open heart laid bare.

The beauty of water
Water, one of nature's great pleasures.
Do you find the sound of water calming, soothing and serene?
Whenever I hear water and am outside, it instantly calms me. If I’m feeling angry I’m calmed, if I’m sad, happy. When I’m near water I feel free from life's troubles and can have a quiet, peaceful time alone to meditate.
When I’m meditating, I feel free like water is. My negativity can flow away and I'm left with a feeling of true peace which is beautiful.
I particularly find lakes and rivers fascinating and beautiful. The still water and the serenity of lakes’ surroundings make it a very special place of pure happiness.
Whenever I'm near a lake or mountain I feel like that I’m in a higher state of consciousness. I believe that this is because it is a place of peace, profoundness and beauty in its truest sense.
I feel as though I'm in the presence of something truly great, majestic and benevolent. Like a feeling of overwhelming love, knowledge and power. this is our creator, our lord.
True beauty and knowledge are around water, you need to empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless like water. Water can flow or it can crash!! Also when I enter the water, I feel as though I'm being cleansed of all troubles and worries.
Water is like love, clean and pure. It is life, nourishment and fulfillment. Water courses through the earth like love goes through all of us. I feel that water is like a trinity; a trinity of flowingness, calmness and purity.
Water is symbolic among many peoples. Water has many positive aspects, some of these are; gentleness, sensitivity and expressiveness. I feel as though I have these qualities as we all do. You just need to let go of all your troubles and worries.

And moistened lips I softly kissed
Beguiling as the dusk's embrace,
That framed with such expressiveness
The perfect smile upon your face,
Which reached out so uncertainly
Although I glimpsed with mild surprise,
The tethered velvet fluttering
Of shadows living in your eyes.
Then we awakened to each other
As we held on to the dawn,
With a sense of life beginning
Such a sense of being born,
And we paddled in the shadows
As the moon washed them away;
Then we walked along together
Through our first together day.

"A Poet's Gift" you wrote three years ago -
the arc of your poetic heart to tell.
You spoke of deep emotions in the soul
invoking tears to well and hearts to swell.
You had a gift. You were a gift as well.

// Connie Marcum Wong wrote the poem below which I have often come back to as a reminder why a poet writes. When my well runs dry, I return to these words and find my embers are stoked and a flame rekindled. Connie knew how to elevate the English language as an artist elevates a blank canvas into a work of art, and I admire her greatly for her gift. She had a gift, and in her friendship and encouragement she WAS a gift as well. Thank you, Connie. //

Twin Unlimited ballad
Twinned at birth I shared a moment
Not too much room in the womb remained
Closeted together holding hands we laid
We were birthed apart three minutes in-between
She was named Sandra and I Diane.
It wasn't long before she was called Sandi
And I for reasons you will know 'nick-named' Didee
Nanny named me after what the British called a ‘diaper’!
Sandra became 'Sandi', shortly thereafter rhyming with Didee.
Our nick-names have followed us from kindergarten and up
And today Sandi is GRANNY SANDI And I AUNTY DIANE
But, I remain Didee still, to all my living family and relatives
I was youngest and grew up an introvert and her an extrovert
Times changed and the wild whole world saw to that!
I became myself apart from twin mania; as so did she.
It was in teenage years that we were separated as twins
We were dressed alike and shared many a birthday party
Graduation in grade 8, I chose a frilly dress not Sandi
She wanted a pair of boys blue denim jeans which said a lot
I went feminine with girly wants, nylons, training bras and rollers
And Sandi loved sports of all kinds, bats and balls and bubble gum!
We indeed went our separate ways, me the 'thinker' and her a 'doer'
Today we share senior hood and are still bonded enjoying our lives
I have been gifted with creativity, expressiveness with words and paints
She has been gifted with the gab and expresses herself with thread and cloth
We definitely are of two minds with lives differently spent
But always in one’s shadow, proudly following one another’s gain
Our years nick-named Sandi and Didee are forever stamped in our 'twined' minds!

6. Incompleteness of the education curricula/ In-availability of areas-subjects-courses
that will enable others possessing other intelligences discover themselves-excel.
Other factors affecting intelligence are:
Language comprehension and expressiveness, Self reasoning and ability to generate
solutions, Sense of timing-Rhythmic accuracy (psychologically and physically) and Abstract comprehension and representation etc.
NOTE
Interest does not necessarily drive recepto-recreativity, it may drive it to an extent, recepto-recreativity is more accustomed to novelty and does not rely totally on interest and understanding to retain and retrieve information. It does not need orderly links-logical processing to form a meaning, instead it creates its own method of storing, retrieving and linking to form information, remember and make personal meaning. It is a branch of receptivity crowned with the ability to remember by giving-ascribing personal meaning to things. The person forms his/her own links to make personal meaning but it might not make a realistic meaning to another person. It is a technique that enables-aids the individual in remembering, not everyone has the ability to do this simultaneously with other things (multi-tasking, retaining information/sequences of steps/information, ascribing personal meaning to information or steps/sequences of information/processes/procedures, remembering virtually all the sequences/steps/procedures and information and recreating virtually all the steps and information).
Recepto-recreativity is a personal term the author ascribes to individual technique/s of denoting information. All the factors listed are not taken from any source but are merely the author's thoughts, observations and somewhat conclusions.

In ghostly white and crystal blue
Like sun spiked diamonds on a chain,
So gently dripping down upon
Your silhouette within the rain,
And where you stood, the shadows bowed
In homage and in wonderment,
As unseen beauty shone abroad
In such a sacred sacrament.
Then the gas light glowed upon you
And your silhouette was gone,
Like curtains opened to the dawn
Just as the evening's done,
You reached out purple brocade arms
To hold me close again,
And we clasped ourselves together
In the shining morning rain.
And mist clad lips I softly kissed
So indistinct below the lace
That framed with such expressiveness
The perfect smile upon your face,
Which reached out so uncertainly
Although I glimpsed with soft surprise
The tethered velvet fluttering
Of shadows living in your eyes.
Then we awakened to each other
As we held on to the dawn

As the sun washed them away
Then we walked along together
Through our first together day…

I pause and witness words of beauty
Taking me up to the mountain top
A simple gift of serenity
I stand still looking over the drop
Held in the grasp of expressiveness
Taking me to the mountain top
I take to the air a silent witness
Lifted on phrases of pure delight
Held in the grasp of expressiveness
My mind is bathed in a pure blue light
Riding on delicate angel wings
Lifted on phrases of pure delight
Freedom is felt as my soul it sings
Who knows where I'll be taken to
Riding on delicate angel wings
So as I inhale sweet words from you
Who knows where I'll be taken to
I pause and witness words of beauty
A simple gift of serenity
Dedicated to my Poetry Soup Friends who continue to
lift me on their delicate angel wings.

I cannot say this without missing some fragments.
What the mind reveals is too bright to paint
In words
In pictures
In song…
How I crave the expressiveness of thought
Living and true
Without the disadvantage of explanation.
I write with my mind
And when it is gone
I will write as I have always dreamed
Beyond the borders of limitation
Finally, creation comes home.

How do I know when I have made someone happy?
Cause I sure can tell when I have not
How can I bite my tongue when I have so much to say?
Biting your tongue can cause unnecessary bleeding
How should I spread myself thin enough to help everyone?
Hopefully not under an old steamroller
How will I get out of the rut I got stuck in?
With the help of some good Samaritan maybe
How do we know who we can and cannot trust?
With intuition and measured acutance
How can I be assured that I will survive?
No-one person can be assured of this
How am I able to ask all of these questions?
With a lot of hard thought and expressiveness
Will this make sense to anyone other than myself?
Only those that read these lines will be able to answer
Would you answer all questions asked of you honestly?
The truth can hurt some people if they have trouble with emotions
Do I answer all questions asked of me honestly?
I answer each question in ways I think will not hurt the listener
