Now and then, quietly without notice,
Time adjusts its spectacles—
Peers through a fogged pane of recall
Where particulars, once urgent, dissolve.

If now and then you find rain in your heart,
be assured it is scheduled—
a punctual drizzle of consequence,
not passion, but the persistence of memory
in its bureaucratic overcoat.

It’s all because of you,
the file states plainly:
signed in duplicate, sealed in dust.
No redress required—
only the courteous nod to causality.

The aged—those quaint accumulations—
become, in the end, detours.
Not disliked, precisely,
but excessive to the route:
a bench beneath ivy, seldom occupied.

So live out your days with decorum.
Attend the rituals of silence.
Polish your small routines.
Let time, that sly curator,
catalogue your exit in amber.

The Equanimity of Never, Always, and Sometimes

N otice me when I am in a mood to
   E valuate my every move!
V oice your opinion to
   E scape the wrongdoing.
R eality is never given to you.

A nswers are forthcoming when you are proactive.
L itmus the acidity of recourse and the
W iser you will become.
A bsolute your environment to factive and
Y our essence is known.
S earch always the tractive shown.

S ort a basis of emotions to the depth of despair.
O rder everyone to treat each other fairly.
M ix up is disallowed.
   E ffort illuminates good-well profound.
I ntense are your sentiments to unity
M agnified by your desire to be free and not just
E nthusiasms seen.
S ometimes are not a part of equanimity.

Equanimity

When equanimity falls to the wayside
And the eyes empirically survey the hillside,
It’s Einstein’s time that I can’t bide,
Mawkish mental masturbation adroitly I chide,
Thy self,
Then my discreet self in its inchoate knowledge of reality,
Like the mass of humanity
Dissembling about Nature,
And Nature in turn disassembles matter, that we build up and think
Matters,

Your death is no grand spectacle even if it seems to be,
wrought cosmologies wield fantastical narratives of eternity,

Even when my hero Nietzsche in his tautology: Amor Fati unfolds itself like origami into eternal recurrence
Don’t get any ideas about permanence.
Take an uncompromising acceptance of reality, isn’t that just akin to Buddhist philosophy?
As discreet markings form abstract symbols of meaning in letters that form alphabets, that form words, that form sentences, that form phrases that compose ideology to compel us and histories, that inform us of existence, don’t get too cozy with them as they have a way of presenting like the Horizon,
The horizon, you know is just an illusion.

I do not subscribe to Pascal’s wager, Dawkins showed me the light,
I do not matter much, but no matter, as surely as I exist nothing is more precious.
All religious cosmologies aside, miraculous evocative entertainments beguiling distractions,
"Cogito ergo sum" Descartes comforting statement.
You bring the inside out,
this doubting mind can be certain of existence, by our certain doubt.

Equanimity

Equanimity – mental calmness, composure, and evenness of temper, especially in a difficult situation

Euphoric moments
Balanced by the darkest of nights
One without the other
Loses perspective – like a ship without a beacon of light

Our lives can flourish
When we acknowledge the pain
To fight the inevitable
Drives the strongest insane

So don’t fill up with pride
On the brightest of days
But don’t fall in a hole
When things don’t go your way

Have patience
Live life to the fullest - passionately
Breathe deep

Premium Member Move on

Life is for the living
It is for a short a season
Whatever life throws at you
Receive it with equanimity and move on
When you make mistakes as all mortals sometimes do
Do not run away from God
Rather run to Him and make amends
And move on with determination
On your onward journey
And God will see you through
For He loves you so much
That He gave you His only son
To die a shameful death on the cross
So that you may be saved if only you believe

Equanimity

"Teach us to care and not to care;
  teach us to sit still."
                                     -T.S. Eliot

Too much of everything, no equanimity,
ipods and emails engulfing your brain;
snafus and bottlenecks, traffic and tie-ups,
endless confusion will drive you insane.

Perhaps it would be best to pause for a moment
and give up your place to the lean and the mean,
to covet silence and calm and simplicity,
shun chaos and pressure, they know where you've been!

Take refuge in reading, or simply go shopping,
have fun with your children and make lots of noise!
play ball with your neighbour, take walks in the country
and nurture your inner child, play with your toys!

Equanimity

Transit in your resting
Amorphously in peace, and poise
Mindfulness and rapture
Make yourself serene
In the thought free alertness
Of reasonability and quietness

Equanimity

Equanimity?
What a wonderful idea!
If only I could.
After all these years I find
Small things still disturb my mind.

Attractions and aversions, stun and shun
Free will signals, an option resisted
But does earth feel bound, orbiting the sun
Equanimity shaken when tested

Dynamic stillness seems to hold the key
We remain calm, although attention sways
Embrace and release in serenity
In but not of the world, as we do play

Imbibing vibrations by resonance
Mindful eye burrows deep into the void
Until attaining natural balance
Determined by soul presence, overjoyed

Attain oh hermit, equilibrium
Devoid of ego borne residuum

a surprise is sprung
of the nasty sort
but the beauty is
our heart does not contort

something has changed
a definitive shift
aided by bliss mists
we see consciousness lift

there’s nothing we did
save relinquishing identity
all that is, is grace
to grant heart serenity
