A blessed
Winter Day
Dressed for the
Holidays. A pure blanched
Vision awaits me so I reflect out loud.
Satin white angel hair snow, sleeps light on our street,
enriches the raw pines in a virginal base coat of flurries.
Families dressed for the holidays, lovely, quite the treat.
There are voices singing, travel soft on a passing breeze.
My senses are ablaze on this blessed winter day.
Children's faces bright red from play rekindle memories.
Remembering crafting sculptures, the element, like clay.
Snow fights, where we'd take refuge behind shrubberies
Lights energized, dance with the dark as their partner.
Colors, tints the nights complexion in a luminesce glow.
Smoke from pillow covered roofs make my heart flutter.
My days of improvised ice rinks, skating with the flow.
A holiday surrounded night ignites passions deep.
Making snow angels, pulled on a toboggan down my avenue,
Picking a frosted pine then wrapped and thrown into our Jeep.
Heading home with that years tree to dress and decorate anew.
But it is now and time to play in this our new frosting of snow.
With my two baby girls we use it to bake as if it were dough.
Life is different now, as an adult with my children, I go slow.
Savor every moment, their youth a gift, repeats like an echo.

My whole life waits, just this moment, the ink still
wet; for sunrise this clear May morning.
My shaman up already,
hair askance, dancing and trilling his flute
to the crescent moon face,
lit by the blue iron square welcoming
the sun.
The Sun appears now...my expectations grow...
A foray into the secret riverbank forest, hunting
for Morels with my hobo friend ( by choice,
wishing not to support 4 ex-wives) Clark,
he with his walking stick adorned with colorful
talisman ribbons accumulated from a life spent
wandering....me with my crafted Yucca stick
a friend made for me.
Then...off to pick-up heirloom vegetable plants
a master gardener has nurtured for me to
grow in my community plot, where my friends
are happy to see me.
Amidst all, I'll have Ma accompany me,
(not in the woods) but not far away, her
smile always eager to share in my discoveries,
a comfortable sitting bench at the garden awaits
her, the smell of fresh-turned soil enriches her.
Later, I promised her we would grill at one
of her favorite places she remembers going
with Pop, alongside Minnehaha Creek, the
water gently flowing this time of year, birds
singing and Ducks playing,
The Sun is up further now,
this poem must end,
my destiny
awaits

Would Autumn's leaves' colors dazzle us so
displayed on their twigs the year round?
Would Spring's peonies seem so full, so fragrant
if they never faded in the heat of the Summer?
Would Winter's soft snows so enthrall and enchant us
were they to fall in the heat of July?
All beauty's ephemeral ~ its Death the preservative
that enriches our Lives with such meaning

Verse
You’re our Creator, and we’re Your creation
Thanks for reaching down to us for our salvation
To offer us Your relationship of sweet heaven’s jubilation…
Now, we’re heading toward Your set glorious transformation.
You’re our Potter, and we’re Your clay*
Thanks for designing us according to Your way
To shape us up by Your fellowship we can experience everyday…
Now, we’re living as vessels that honor You while in Your plan we stay.
You’re our Master, and we’re Your servants
Thanks for calling us by Your immutable covenants
To include us for Your partnership beyond reward-grants…
Now, we’re laboring with contentment against worldliness and vanity-wants.
You’re our Head, and we’re Your body**
Thanks for cleansing us from sinfulness’ malady
To perfect us in Your workmanship with Your truth so sturdy…
Now, we’re striving to be holy as we wait for Your coming, ever ready.
You’re our Leader, and we’re Your followers
Thanks for enabling us to obey You and Your orders
To teach us along Your discipleship upward maturity towers…
Now, we’re living by faith with the conviction to be biblical defenders.
You’re our Vine and we’re Your branches
Thanks for upholding us midst stormy glitches
To nurture us with Your stewardship that spiritually enriches…
Now, we’re bearing fruits by Your love, grace and mercy’s touches.
You’re our Shepherd and we’re Your sheep***
Thanks for delivering us out from death-valley’s deep
To carry us to Your friendship where our hearts You safely keep…
Now, we’re dwelling in Your pasture, verily blessed, till we do sleep.
*Isaiah 64:8 But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
**Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
***John 10:14 I (Jesus Christ) am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

Etchings upon my heart, so profound in time
These hues, colored so bright, bringing out an array of light
This love, in healing softened my existence and allowed me to trust
Yet sad, as we parted for the differences were evident and pained;
pained by the physical was he, as I would watch him sleep
curled up in a fetal, his hidden small frame
Today, no evidence of the cancer, and I thank God for the blessings!
I am not selfish, as he moved on to passionately live
For he needed the things in which I could never provide
Someone once said to me that they had a normal life
and it might be a good thing to try
Yet I find my travels amazing and the people I meet daily in life
I smiled gently, as I refrained my opinions publically
leaving them pacified that yet somehow,
there was a bit of encouragement that they had left me
For in this world filled with filth, money and greed among things
It is something I've always refused to conform to really
Sometimes I wonder about him, as I sleep on this life's pillow made of concrete
For I know many struggles, yet I know the Lord is showing me
The easy way is not always the best but the path less traveled
enriches the spirit
At times my flesh reeks of the sinful spoils, that I cannot deny..
Some look upon the stars and ponder great loves gone by
Some think that true love will just fall out of the clear, blue sky!
I say to you now, love is a verb, indeed, I know this to be so
and sometimes after the valleys, our rotten fleshly ways
I awake in the darkness, at dusk, awaiting the dawn to arrive
In the silence, the wind caresses my skin and I remember a different time
and I breathe in deeply to keep the moment that soon I will have to exhale,
with a somber farewell, as my heart hopes for another moment in time,
lest I am left with the depth in my soul to carry of loves tragic goodbye
So, these lessons in life are sometimes blessings in disguise
I know not, why God shows us the things he does each day
I find peace, though I am much different than most, I know
One day the Gallo may be requested for me,
and my more than average, unconventional ways
I merely ask for one thing,
Please do not greet me with pity, along my passing way
~Someone said to me once, they had a normal life and it might be a good thing to try~

...for Juvie
Your glowing smile, like children laughing,
radiates like fire through frigid spells,
your own merriment enriches,
its appeal like distant bells.
Your auburn hair, like gossamer,
distilled by zephyrs' gentle beat,
rejoices on your shoulders like
the errant play of summer wheat.
Your jaunty gait, while others wait
to follow, as their lot must be,
will overtake those in your wake
with joyfulness and joie de vivre!
Though woes may darken your bright eyes,
decelerate your sprightly pace,
you ne'er will mention your despair,
and that, my love, is grace.

Verse
Beetles, most likely, felled the giant.
A gruesome deterioration,
of a quiet magnitude,
ravaged inward.
Until, in the cold night,
root structure surrendered
from hardened ground,
to a misery of horizontal dust.
And where once the domain of birds,
was glorified above,
now gives shelter to ants and grubs.
Golden bark breathes no more.
A deathly gray instead petrifies,
the deceased former shade giver.
And yet as cell churns to molecule,
and molecule devolves its complexity,
soil enriches.
Earth becomes fertile.
And the dust again gives way to life.

no nation, no state, no corporation
no family, no self, no nebulous soul
enriches itself by acquisition
to gain its stuff but lose control
equality is the rule of life
because any thing that is acquired
must be relinquished by another
balancing the equation is required
the take or give we do to live
determines quality of fulfillment
with less is more, we're all in store
for days of joy and contentment
don't need no plane or border gain
to bring more meaning to our lives
believe the purpose is in the sharing
with friends and laughs we will survive

Rhyme
Echoes of laughter penetrate my reflections
Reminding me of the loneliness that exists
Amid shattered memories and lost dreams
When I awakened to a family that was gone
Lifted from the earth to walk along those
Streets of heaven, where I will someday walk
Feet beating out a dance of loving wisdoms
Hailing those beloved people I’ve missed for these
Many years of living on earth and witnessing
Other families coming and going, alive and well
Seeking the warmth that flickers with fires
Of intimacy and inspiration, insight into faith
Where secret visions soar, unheard and silent,
Reaching through the pains and struggles
To light up like diamonds in the darkest night
Vibrations of hope puncture my whispering
Musings, painting hues of sparkling desire
Through my passionate spirit, my tender
Feelings, flowing crimson through veins of
Serenity and joy, yearnings for the day when
I, too, will reach this place called heaven
Where I will meet the One who has known
Me all along, known my heart, soul and spirit
Known the family that I miss so desperately
And long for, with a hunger that threatens
To consume my very soul with its ache for
The small moments when I knew them best
In the places that come back so easily, the
Dinner table and the breakfast feasts of omelets
That left us filled with more love for each other
Than the nutrients of eggs and meat, sustenance
Thriving floods of hope seasoning the meals
And peppering of love awakening the heart
To know that God himself graced our table
With His kindness and compassion, His touch
Moving us all to know the closeness of family
With stirrings of faith in the Father leaving us
Alive with the assurance that God will lift hearts
Who have lost the small moments to death
Leaving shadows of darkness threaded through
The light that enriches the heart with pure love
In the small moments… I find eternal peace

Love sometimes blooms like a flower
Perhaps a tender rose full of power
To whisper softly through the breeze
Sending effects to hearts that please
Love is like a rose that is colored pink
Fragile with petals that will soon blink
Awaken the joys that come to the heart
That is so in love it never wants to part
Love is valuable and sensitive as a rose
It believes in giving, which it always shows
Enriches the spirit with a feeling of hope
That together, in love, there is a way to cope
Love is like the rose with all its many colors
Filling up the hearts and souls of its many lovers

Sonnet
The crave of the leaf to reach its goal
To capture the rays of the sun
As it enriches its soul
To live for a season
Greened full of life
At the end of it's cycle
It brings new life
Browned and creased
As it hangs by a thread
This canopy of life
In seasonal dead
Drifts to the ground
In a spiral twirl
Joining a carpet
On this earthen-ed world
Time will decay
This seasonal joy
Its nutrients left
Nature will re-employ
As Spring returns
And a new born is bloomed
Knowing that its future
Is already doomed

Shape
Love shall be the easiest word; to say.
Though deeper than any words do go,
Harder in ways that anyone may show.
True love so much more such anyway.
Shall wipe out any form of dismay,
If veracity of heart is graciously slow.
When mixed with eyes that seem to glow.
Tenderness rewarding, true loves array.
More than any act, that enriches pleasure.
Flows from, enacted verses; unspoken,
Spirited rapture, with hormonal divide,
From the soul; pure golden treasure,
Enriches feelings beyond any token,
Heavenly bond ensues; when two coincide.

Italian Sonnet
Blood is thicker than water (farewell)
Burdened and scarred by DNA
Passed on to us without our say yet
Blood is thicker than water you say?
Characteristically speaking at least
Yes this much is true
Blood coagulates, dries up at such a rate
Impermanent - given certain conditions -
As flaking paint on the family portrait
Carries unknown diseases causing delicate hearts
Quite literally to break
Water the poor relation oh so giving
Life force indeed of all things living
Cleanses, refreshes, vitality brings
Enriches life prompting hale hearts
Passionately to sing
Crimson blood dripping oozing
Pure water flowing clear and soothing
I know now which is my choosing
Blood is thicker than water they say
This I will dispute
Till my last drop has bled away
