All Beauty's Ephemeral

Would Autumn's leaves' colors dazzle us so
displayed on their twigs the year round?

Would Spring's peonies seem so full, so fragrant
if they never faded in the heat of the Summer?

Would Winter's soft snows so enthrall and enchant us
were they to fall in the heat of July?

All beauty's ephemeral ~ its Death the preservative
that enriches our Lives with such meaning

Nicely done, Gershon-- great final couplet, and true that death is what gives life its meaning.

Indeed, all natural beauty is transient, dear Gershon, but your brilliant poem about ephemeral beauty is endlessly beautiful. A thought provoking gem that sparkles. A fav! Warmest wishes my dear friend.. ~Susan

I recently learned the meaning of 'Ephemeral' and this is the perfect definition, so richly wise-

I really must amend the title, just for you: "All beauty is ephemeral, except for yours, Maureen! Like the Biblical Sarah, may you be as beautiful at 100 as you were at 20 (and as you are today)! ~ Your friend in Chicago, Gershon
