Words in italic by Angeline Lim

Hydrangea blues
blooming in seven colors
versatile at heart

Storm clouds in a tantrum and yet
the rainbow

Gently wipes away a facade
reveals a layer
hidden within

Pretty just like yesterday
red-hot pokers

Playing fireworks
on lovers' palates
scintillating senses

The shared spaghetti noodle
growing shorter

Sunlight fading
into a sweet dream
aromatic Osmanthus

'tween the slits of enclosed fingers
flashes of a firefly

Smolders of passion
unfolding within
Chrysanthemum mysteries

Instead of the bee
her tender touch

Frozen fixture
all the yellow once in the field
now in the moon

Aesthetic display
of a crystallized Rose quartz

The snowy hills
at this time a strange warmth
morning blush

Purplish Crocuses
pop their cheerful heads up kisses blown

Thinking himself
to be King Arthur
startled butterflies

Surprised Tulips
opening lips with an exclamation

August heat!
there goes the evidence
of the snail

Spiraling down a Corkscrew vine
into a time portal

P.S. Haven't been on lately ... hope all is well with everyone :)

Eclectic Electric

Fender strung upside down
big hands pressing strings to frets.
 Woodstocks’ last scheduled act, Jimi
exercized his “Right to Free Speech.”
The world heard an eclectic electric version
of “Star Spangled Banner.” Those notes still
reverberate “All Along the Watchtower.”

“Hey Joe,” “Are You Experienced?”

 “WELL, I AM !”

*To honor Jimi Hendrix in Raul Moreno's contest.

Premium Member Selectively Eclectic, a Musical Matter of Taste

I freely admit I love classical music,
And please don't think me a snob
If I keep my composure
When I mention composers
As Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Schumann,
And not Ludie, or Wolfie,
Or Petie, or Bob.

And a symphony simply cannot be enjoyed
At just any old time of the day.
I can't listen to them
Prior to seven p.m.,
And I don't mean to brag, but I couldn't be dragged
To a Wednesday or Saturday matinee
Of a ballet by Bizet or Massenet.

My taste in classical music, you see,
Is eclectic, but not meant to shock.
I choose Strauss for the schmaltz
Of a polka or waltz,
And Chopin is my dude when I crave an etude,
But I do tend to doze in my seat in the loge
Through an opera by Wagner…
Or more Offenbach.

Be mindful of the Logical Fallacies.

When enlisting proxy's honor yourself and qualify them.

If you ask direct questions respond in kind.

Qualifying ones self as obtuse will not excuse duplicity.

Choosing doesn't preclude choice.

Those who speak of omissions have omitted.

Don't speak if you don't want your words spoken.

Don't write if you don't want your words read.

When you ask for privacy expect an audience.

If you sue for peace expect war.

When you strive for humility it may be construed as vanity.

Suffer not bigotry even from within ones own.

Hate brings vengeance invest in neither.

Have faith in your convictions and speak them plainly.

Do not emulate that which you abhor.

The wisdom of the crowd isn't always wise...

Maybe it was because he was the runt of the litter
Yet, his joy to your heart, I knew, that none could not compare
Friendly big frame, except when Mr. Bill would screams his name
Right by our bed he would sleep while we sang
Ice pellets tapping on the window pane
Eleven… What’s that? Outside to do your thang?
Next thing I know, is that you had fell sick
Date and time now with the vet, Steve called to come quick
Male Knight that I am, there before lickety split
Inside, something there hadn’t been right for many a night
Cloak the coat…should have protested with stronger clout
Killed him, I did….this look in her eyes, is what was said
Eternal you are my friend
Yet, I still ask forgiveness, for failing you

Premium Member Mcguffey's Eclectic Reader

I came across an old McGuffey's Reader the other day.
Let me endeavor to tell you about it if I may.
Seems in days of yore, educational aims were more sublime.
Political correctness had yet to reach its querulous prime!

Rife with exercises for forming a solid education,
It was used by teachers and scholars for many a generation.
Between its covers were many down-to-earth stories,
Telling of the value of adhering to time-honored mores!

Can you imagine, it even mentions God a time or two!
Everything was written with a moral point of view.
The book taught that upright living was the thing to do,
If a happy and successful life was to ensue!

Copious exercises taught pupils proper articulation,
And great stress was placed on correct punctuation.
Among other things in which they were drilled to excel,
Was the parsing of words and how to properly spell!

I'm not too well versed on what today is taught in school.
Seems, tho', it wouldn't hurt to espouse the Golden Rule!
I would be willing to bet my very last dime,
That it might even help to reduce the teenage rate of crime!

AN ECLECTIC ENIGMA 1
The rhythm of life,spontaneous
and easy,lively & special a touchstone
of the ephemeral. An all embracing delight
imagination made manifest of stray
objects.Inspired informality,of
leisured elegance,a pervading
atmosphere of a coherent whole.
Quiet& simple charm in divine
eloquence,perfection in simple
continuity to bring a shared rapture.

AN ECLECTIC ENIGMA 5
Awareness,articulated,emphasises inherent
intimacy,communicated eye to eye.
Everchanging yet underlying the movement
,here and there.Engraved forever,catalogued
in human memory,available on recall.
Translucent interplays of lght,figuration in
transition,precise palpitations of pure delight
sound in the beholders ear.Testaments of
transparent,and the temporal,all too soon
evaporates before the eye.

A sense of the scared, where the

This reciprocal aesthetic of reflections
synthesized in a balanced vision.

in a filtered dynamic of visual pleasure

I once knew a man who was dyslexic
It really made his whole world hectic
The manner he preferred
Was to write things backward
His poems were poetic eclectic

Eclectic Words

sWords>>>> Cruel Intentions

Cruel and piercing words
insinuations that wound
leaves the heart bleeding

Careful Words……

talk, listen, ponder
for many speechless moments
share secret wisdom

Unspoken Words….

Sometimes in silence, I behold
Unspoken words of brightest gold
Thoughts are still; unexpressed
Like sparkling stars, these are best

Words in Song…….

Some share love with roses
But I share mine in song
For the power of music is passion
So my melody lingers on

Words in Poetry....

shimmering ideas
etching a lyrical spell
deep inside my soul
poetry that burns within
begging for release

Personal Ad

Personal Ad -Advertisement-Article- (In need of something a little bit different)

I'm looking for a female with a personality other than herself
Someone different from me. Tranquilized, homogenized and light
Traumatized by clowns and cotton candy
This individual should be alive at the time of this printing
You must come with instructions and triple A batteries
A turn off valve and buttons that say "off" are essential
This candidate needs a mouth, a nose and an eye
At least one, two would be preferable, three would be scary
Four would be excessive. Five would be ridiculous.
I pay by the hour not by the eye

A head and ears are optional
Weight and height are your choice
The perfect candidate should be clearly invisible
Not hatched from an egg or manufactured in a mold
Make-up is required. There is no such thing as too much.
You must have good grades in math and take baths
You will be required to do my taxes and make sandwiches
I will pay you for your services with salted crackers
I am looking for a purely platonic relationship
One that has no strings attached
Marionettes need not apply.

If you own pliers you can be my dentist
A person with low to no self esteem is perfect
I expect to hear from you but only if you speak
Once I get a phone, a shelter and my memory back
With a copy of my completed income tax
You will be considered a person of interest
And not much more.... Unless you do windows
Then we can explore
