Premium Member To the Scoffers of Sensual Writes

To those who think that poetry must be
of lofty things, not sensuality
To those who write of stars and sun and moon
and who to romance will not ever swoon

To those who write of angst and misery
of all that has gone wrong in history
To those who think I write frivolity
and read not what I write: an oddity!

I write to you, and all my thought's I'll bare
and see if you can argue if you dare
If you’ve forgotten passion's blazing fire
Or how consumed your heart was with desire

If you’ve forgotten romance in the night
Or making love in early morning light
If you’re denied the thrill of ecstasy
And can’t bear witness to its urgency

If you have come of age when health concerns
are all of life that now your mind discerns
I tell you dear, the fault is yours not mine
Devoid of love life meets not plan divine

The gift of love is granted from on high
You can’t deny that even if you try
the pleasure’s woven in anatomy
He formed and blessed our sensuality

To reproduce was in his own design
But also to enjoy the act sublime
There is a little bud that’s meant to thrill
It’s only use is pleasure to fulfill

So tell me, what is life if not for this
To show commitment with the sweetest kiss
In right communion to be drenched in love
And in its throes to glide to heights above

My fellow poet, write of lofty things
And all the finer thoughts that wisdom brings
I pity you for love and passion’s reign
Has banished you from glory with disdain

All nature and all life with love is mixed
And so my mind with passion is transfixed
It’s love that makes this world go round and round
Without it, best be buried underground.

Sweet Purpose

I have come to the point of decision
And I have decided in favour of love

Wisdom is not solely measured by experience
But more by capacity for it
I have glimpsed deep into history
I have sieved through its successes
...for the soundest advice I could find
Most profound I have received from the greatest achievers in its archives

I am a Student of Life
I am a Wordsmith of Optimism
And I am a Mason of the Castles of Dreams
This Trinity of Purpose for me goes hand in hand, side by side
Each benefits the other
Issue is, they set me apart from the others

Here I am, young when I should be intoxicated with the fads of modernity
Fortified with skills that are eager to pay the ordinary wages
But nay, I am not to be beleaguered
I focus ahead to perceive the greater rewards at the summation of days
For I place most value on the greatest wealth: WISDOM and HAPPINESS

I have come to the point of decision
And I have decided in favour of love

I choose to commit my heart entirely
To the work I love best
For it is this calling that shall liberate the sanctity of my humanity
The world I dwell in fathoms not a shred of my quest
For it views life through the lenses of reality

True as it may be that my work suffices not to endow me
...with common currency in these economic times
The rationale of my perception discerns far beyond this temporary mist

Let them roar their throats in laughter at my perceived stupidity
But it is their children and their children’s children that shall benefit most
...From this shelter of thoughts and dreams that for them I build

I expect no immediate remuneration for my onerous undertaking
For I rationalize it as a selfless gift to humanity
Hence I shall tap deep within to give all can give
I am determined to build this Shelter of Thoughts and Dreams
I have the basic skills hence I commit my willingness and ingenuity
The Good Gods shall present the mortar and bricks

The fear of failure has been permanently exiled from boarding my being
As my eyes are fixated on the prize
I am ready to pay the price

Premium Member The Archer

What timid lamb discerns I am trustworthy, drawing near?
What deer could hear my message clear, "There's no need for alarm"?
What rabbit out of habit doesn't dash in mortal fear?
What sigh could signify to butterfly, "My heart is warm"?
What squirrel won't twirl and run when my one goal is to endear?
What word, if heard by hummingbird conveys, "I mean no harm?"

How do you spell the word to tell the woman you've dreamed of;
that word of balm to soothe and calm the fears she dares not show?
How would you try to say you'd die for her, whom you most love?
How to persuade your doubt-filled maid, when still these ill winds blow
into her mind? Grieving, you find your unrequited dove
still sees in you an archer, who could wield a deadly bow.

Contrary Telescope

Time can be counted in milliseconds
Pay attention
To the cracks in the pavement
Where the sand grains no longer held their cement

The proverbial elephant
Resides in a matchbox of contented intent

And measure by micrometers
The distance of hairs
As a tiny mote floats into a sea of stars
Still wondering where the hell you are
Within the fluidity of atomic constructs
Or thought
To reach beyond all eternal
With the tweezers of a contrary telescope

So lost in the tiny vastness
The insignificance evaluated by the little presumptuous
Internal sees with a tunnel focus
Discerns the explanatory pores through its magnifying glass

Do not count the blades of grass
Or imagine a beach to be anything more
Everything else inconsequential
Outside the front door

The prodigal elephant
Struggles inside the matchbox of its purpose

While an entire universe contained within a single cell
Remembers how to construct a flower
And each breath is a hurricane
Between the footprints of forever

Time can be measured in dreams
In all those forgotten hours
Of sleeping
Where the grains of thought no longer held, to their cement

And wander upon the waters of one
The unified electrical fields of creation
With all the names it has born
Still waiting for the sleepers to awaken

The elephant inside a matchbox

What I Miss

Firstly,
waking up to your thoughts,
is not what I really do.

Secondly,
slothing around, thinking about you,
is not what I really do.

However,
doesn't mean that I love you no longer,
nor that I don't miss you.

When I manifest my fascination,
about something I love,
and there's no one who discerns,
that's when I miss you most.

When I speak my mind out,
about our insignificance in the cosmos,
and I'm met with vacant stares,
that's when I miss you most.

When I am gloomy,
about something I'd bungled,
and I no longer hear your reassuring voice,
that's when I miss you most.

Every time I be someone,
someone I am not,
and when I remember who I was with you,
that's when I miss you most.

On a Butterfly's Back

One spring day,
An angel plays,
A magical play...
She made me sit
On the back of a butterfly...

Huuuh huuuh huuuh
Oye yea yea!!!
Hmm hmm hmm...
I hum...
Hsss hsss hss,
The breeze sings

Hearing our songs
The flowers dance
O, those lovely moves,
dancing angels they are, proved

Put us into a trance
at the very first glance;
Enchanting event,
The angels' dance

Red, blue, orange, purple and yellow
The vibrant colours paint the plain meadow
When my butterfly choses a purple one
The one which is my favourite, I silently grin

Wow!!! Never seen the flowers this close
Oh oh!!! Heavenly hues on their clothes
Couldn't narrate their cherubic colors
"Queens of the earth", certainly they are

Savouring the nectar of the flowers
The Butterfly has got more power
Now she is ready to reach the towers
Hurray!!! The sky is now ours

My soul outreaches the sky
Looks alike, the lows and highs
When I see the Earth and beyond
My wavering mind lands on the ground

When our soul discerns the almighty
Our mind becomes very light
Purpose of life, it perceives
Contentented life it achieves

Pillow Book

In the library, we meet a young lady; her study, it does overwhelm,
Resting, laying her head down, she then transcends into another realm.

She awakes amongst a rolling fog, as it clears she heeds an immense object,
Wiping her eyes, she starts afoot and discerns a large book standing erect.

The cover presented then creeks ajar, the yellowed pages adorn with dust,
Projecting light into the binding with an antique lantern that’s covered in rust.

Pages turn rapidly, fluttering as the outskirt of her dream fold over and billow,
Suddenly she awakes to realize that she’s been using the same book as a pillow.

Just one more day with the One to whom my soul will always pray
Everlasting grace brings me into the light of His most prudent benediction
Singing into my mind, my thoughts, a wonderful that words can’t convey
Unending love erases all my doubts and brings the stirring of gentle conviction
Sincerity rings through the one who discerns the wonder of His crucifixion

God Says I'M Royalty

There are too many people walking around every single day
And if you ask them who they are most don't know what to say
You need to know who you are and how you came to be
And if you are a child of God you are royalty

We are all descendants of the most high God
children of the King
But if you don't have a relationship with Him
That concept doesn't mean a thing
But God says we're all royalty so we need to comprehend
That it's not our culture, it's not our race it's being creations of Him

Now the enemy is on the prowl working day and night
Trying to deter our youth from acknowledging God's light
Too much social media with Twitter, Facebook and Skype
So caught up in their Cel phones and every technological hype
But God looks at our hearts, He discerns what's inside
He's not concerned about hair color, tattoos or exposed backsides

God says we're royalty, He says we're His chosen offspring
And He called a young David to come forth and do a new thing
Now David was not a fighter he was a tender of sheep
But God can flip the script and with faith make you take the leap
God can use anyone when it comes to accomplishing His goals
He can call on the most unlikely person
and infuse him with power and control

God says we're royalty with power, majesty and might
He will bless and anoint us with grace, mercy and light
God says we're royalty and when He calls us to serve
Don't second guess His actions this appointment you deserve
To be a vessel that God will use, a means to an anointed end
To change the course of history to benefit all men

Now David was to battle but not King Saul's way
David had a god-given talent to be put on display
David was a projectile warrior a master of the slingshot
So he picked up 5 smooth stones and proceeded towards his lot
Only one stone was needed to take Golieth down
It hit that giant in the forehead
and immediately knocked him to the ground
David's actions changed the course of history
It also came to affect his entire family
Eventually David became a king
and because of his faith and behavior
His descendants became the line that produced
Jesus the Christ Our Savior

And like David I know who I am
And from Whom I came to be
And like David I'm a child of God
And God says I'm royalty

Inner Critic

What nasty grip and vicious hold
A voice that cuts and scars my soul
Ever constant, reproach and scold
Death of confidence is its goal.

"Note your life is remote and dull
Failures pursue the likes of you
Your place in life shall equal null
You’ll only reap, what you are due."

Each word that’s spoke does enter deep
For it discerns me like myself
Negative airs it piles in heaps
Yet companions can’t see its stealth

Be gone that voice that lives on fear
Black echoes have endured their time
Encourage, nurture, push and steer
Create ladders, not slides to climb.

Our world has those that cast their stones
Permit this man his peace of mind
Embolden trust in dulcet tones
Critics and prey live intertwined.

Somewhere, Somehow

Somewhere in Madagascar a baobab yields its fruit
Somewhere in Australia a thylacine chases a bandicoot
Somewhere in Timbuktu a man is speaking in Urdu
Somewhere in the Blue Ridge Mountains an old woman stirs burgoo
As some skinny guy tiptoes on skyscrapers
Vagrants and vagabonds burn yesterday's newspapers
As the world turns, my heart yearns and my stomach churns
and as time grinds my mind discerns and my soul is spurned
A child plays somewhere with wild animals
and an orphan blesses the food with refined cannibals
A dog lays somewhere on someone's front porch
and an orchard withers somewhere, its ground is scorched

Barred Owl

In sleep
I awake dreaming.
Outside, the air is
heavy, still and close,
and he has roused himself
to speak.

A few, plaintive cries;
do kindred roost nearby?
He knows I’m here
because I listen,
yet he discerns in me
no purpose.

Might the woods
not be the same
without me here?
I am deaf to his
ancestral songs,
and so he keeps his peace.

Beneath Unknown Shores

Waves envelop the steel keel of a massive cruise liner
Off rails eyes hypnotized sense serenity on indigo bay
Cloudless sky beckons the sun for an endless summer
Islands perch on the horizon shaped like sculpted clay

Frenzied bodies traverse sundecks flaunting exaltation
To lips server hand exotic nectar full of alluring cheers
Above ivory keys dancing fingers exude determination
First time cruise explorers conquer psychological fears

Beneath unknown shores life meander above the sand
Seahorses cling to reeds evading rapid surging current
Green turtle Sargasso seagrass cuddle like contraband
Octopus amidst coral scampers survival reflex inherent

Apathy drown hushed grieving voices in troubled water
That breathtaking beauty of glowing vistas veils reality
Spirit of innocent whales menacing harpoons slaughter
Toxic plastic float and drifts contaminating flawless sea

Isolated world in need of crucial humanitarian concerns
Engaging altruistic minds in laborious ecological battles
Guardian of the flame strongly affirm the blind discerns

Premium Member Earth, Fire, Water and Wind Have Knowledge

Is joy found in Thee and thine or in me and mine?
Whose words teach of the path, my life will define

Is happiness found, respecting all things, being kind?
By seeking a common good of man, with thee in mind

Or by achieving goals, success that will benefit me
Is this the key to unlock the grace foretold from thee?

It seems that many men’s words differ in religious belief
Each group’s path shifts, as when wind blows a leaf

Which men’s words should I follow, whose thoughts are true
Or do these men speak with words, mixed in an evil brew

As I think, ponder, on what path I should follow in life
You guide my direction, as the "Great Spirit", my fife

Let earths wind, water, fire, teach animal, plant and man
All lessons they need learn, from the creator of the plan

All mankind needs your grace to discern wisdom from folly
Some men distort your words to sell tickets on their trolley

With "faster is better" and “giving of your life will be holy”
Beware the cost of the ride, proceed a little more slowly

Wisdom discerns truth, as knowledge comes alive
Let your spirit be taught, before man can contrive
