Gradually the crystalizing dawn -- more hardened
Than folded steel --- more sharper than
  The blade that cuts!
Wisps of thin vapour, once loitering insidiously
At the steps of each staunch door,
Swirling away -- seemingly almost alive!
Coiling and uncoiling. Has all the litheness of a
  Dancing girls weightless silken ribbon.
Until, retreating back, high, into some lofty,
 Inaccessible mountain...
Dissipates as if just abandoned dragons breath.

The trees and streams are no longer so solemn.

Circling over the temple, above the brittle lands
Frosted chill, red-beaked choughs noisily engaged
 In agitated clattering...
But now the temple bells are commanding those
    Monks to prayer.

The blind and withered monk, who sits alone
In his unassuming corner, reminds us:-
"An emperor who abuses his power unsettles the
Equilibrium of the whole nation, the workings of
    Nature,
  And the livelihood of all people;
His responsibility is to maintain harmony in
 Himself and the empire...
By acting in accordance with Confucian principles".

It is for them to contemplate what we cannot
  Comprehend:-
We are peasants and it is not expected of us
To understand such wise things; nor should we.

We understand the fish and their ways, and the
    Ways of the Blue River...
Just as monks understand our gracious lord Buddha.

Rouses the sun. Slowly lifts an enormous sky.

Glistening hoarfrost spun from bramble to
Bush -- strung from bough to branch like
    Giant spider web;
Stiffened grasses that so pleasingly crunch
   Underfoot;
And from these grasses, droplets of moisture
Ready to be released like slow weeping tears;
They will join with and sweeten the vibrant
Spring waters -- clearer than quartz --
That stream in tripping rivulets over yellow rocks
To splash from shallow cup to pouring pool...
Once you have tasted these waters you would
Have little more need of wine.
Wine is for idle men, or for our warring masters
   To drink when celebrating great victory;
What use have we of intoxicating wine?
It is better kept as an offering...
Lest the river Gods grow angry and
  Spoil our catch.

A Form of Endearment

I see the tall, long, skinny legs and the
floor-length blonde hair.
The turquoise-blue eyes,
Almost crystalizing for my jealousy;
Maybe I do.

I see cuddles and
I see love.
I see endearment and
I see faith in one another.
Or I don’t.

I see ideas of two people coming together as
One.
But I do not feel it.
I see the parent and the child,
But I do not feel it.
I see the acceptance of one person’s skin from another’s,
But I do not feel it.
I see calming words spoken from a friend to a lover,
But I do not feel it.
I see the gratitude behind an accepted peace offering;
I see freshly cut grass;
I see recently painted white walls;
I see new cars, a new house;
I see the adults speaking with a mutual respect to the wild teen;
But I do not feel it.

I feel,
But this I do not.

Moonlight

Running from the snow-covered mountain
in a thin blue shirt
that welcomes the cold

Running to the ocean that lays years away
The neck of a large blue heron looks over in fear
it calls out like a single note blown from a clarinet
then it runs away.

Running to the door that sits alone in the dark
The lips of a cat open to release a curious hello
it enters the door, waiting to see if anyone will follow
then it runs away.

Running to the aspen tree that lie ahead
Snow cakes it leaves like crystalizing sugar
The branches sway in the current of the night

Out of breath and halted by the frozen air
I stop to find the moon
It sits above me shining on the path that lay ahead
I look around to ensure I am alone
and then I run away.

China Fading

Hours are many, have become so full.
Hardly a minute, a second to breath.
Meaningful moments are so few.

Only memories of what was known, with you,
are all that remain, of a way of life
scattered among the flakes of winter days.

As China, fades upon the waning pages of History
exploring, knowing, experiencing, journeying
upon the waves of new avenues, new adventures.

In hands are the remnants of tear drops
crystalizing into myriads of flakes,
flakes in all their memorable divergences.

Jack Frost

Jack is nimble with his frozen power
All the coldness he can shower
Crystalizing everything in his path
Keenly freezing with an icy laugh
From his fingers come frosty chills
Rare designs he brings icicle frills
Out of the ice he simply transforms
Silently decorating windows and doors
Then turning it black with his frozen laws

Premium Member A Toast To a Ghost

A toast to a Ghost

On this 13th day, of the 3rd month in the year of 2003.
At a time when 30 – 30 years ago, during the 3rd
month, on the 13th day in the year of our ghost 1973
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Gone, the dream, the body is cold.
Far away from now, the river is old.
The soul alive, free finally, the spirit bold
– home – free, if the truth, the story be told.
No longer tied, bound to this earth, has rolled
onto another place, another space, a different plain.
No longer to know, to drown, in all the hearts rain
as freedom dries up, and the souls flight it will gain
no longer chained, no longer wrapped up by the pain.
The day has come, my long lost friend, as I did pray,
for you to let go, give it up, take wing and fly away.
This – this day –I feel to be a new start for you, Rae.
It has come to pass - I do believe – you have left the fray
to journey beyond, and forever, into a brand new day
Gone, now you are, in my heart you will always stay.

A toast to this man, the ghost I did know,
who, now is gone, to the beyond, a freed soul.
You have let go, and it is time for me to let go
and so dear friend, my thoughts of you,
well, will be of that other, precious time.
There is nothing more I care to do,
but remember, remember times sublime
were we played, talked, walked the same line.

A toast to the ghost, my friend, of this rhyme.
Here’s to you !, and the joys with your new crew
that will help you to get passed, get through
all it was that you once hung onto, once knew
about those people – the now me, the then you.
Time quickly gets by us, and for some, friends are few.
Anyway, dear friend Rae, time for us to stare anew,
let the past boil away, in its black pot of stew,
vaporizing, crystalizing, becoming the mist, nourishing
Mother Earth with clean, clear drops of dew,
creating an environment where all is flourishing.

Here I Am

Here I am Queen
Of things unperceived
My skin shimmers
with an iridescent sheen
The sun shines
crystalizing me

I slow down my motions
Meditating in silence
Opening up my emotions
Creating peace and quiet

I ponder my existence
My relative subsistence
Soaking up the earth
Feeling gravities resistance
Restraining my body from floating forth

I begin my ascension
Leaving the 3rd dimension
Entering unknown realms
Exploring without apprehension
Releasing my spirit from its physical state
My shape is insubstantial
I’ve opened an invisible gate

Here I am Queen
Of things I perceive
My consciousness
My spirit, my soul
Is what makes me whole

Here I am ethereal
My body doesn’t exist
Made up of cosmic material
I will infinitely persist

Premium Member Beaching

the rhythmic waves
frothing to and fro
carry Middle Passage echoes
of journeying odysseys

the setting sun severs
the umbilical link
between Motherland
and her children in diaspora

reflecting grains of sand
catch crystalizing tears
of memories of faded shores

the bleeding breeze blows
sea seasoned whispers
flowing from lost voices

from sea to shining sea
we’ve been anchored
chained and auctioned

never can slavery be
a metaphor for memory
as waves dissipate
at the shores of time

no matter what beaches
we roam
the shores still sing songs
stealing home.

frothing upon the shore,
carry Middle Passage echoes

The setting sun sinking at the horizon
reflect the severed umbilical link—
Motherland and her scattered children.

Wet grains of sand catch crystalizing tears;
tears shed with memories of faded shores.

The bleeding breeze blows sea seasoned whispers;
sea seasoned whispers of the drifting echoes.

Out at sea, wrinkling waves waver;
floating memories fade away.

Winter Moon

Left alone, halo hung;
Midst the nightly waves,
Stars in the sky strung
Above the quiet graves.

Just take a chance
In your shallow disguise,
With a mere glance
Into her hallow eyes

The winter moon's glow,
Bound to my delicate world,
Rained its crystalizing foe.
Around, the flurries swirled

In the deep, perfect land,
I ask the stars, “Hold my hand”
I mask the scars on demand
In sweet sleep, I take a stand

Fleeing the sadness;
Worry leads the way I go,
Everblooming madness
Darkens beneath the snow.

Whispers in my ears
Tickle my spine;
Rupture all my tears,
Dream of mine.

Premium Member There's Something About Winter

There’s something about winter
Cold air, frozen ground, bare trees
Bringing with it loneliness easily
The dark of night arrives early
With a certain kind of longing
That molds memories of what is gone
Like the color of autumn that passed
There’s something about winter
That makes some things linger
Like lone leaves still hanging to branches
Hard to forget, skies begging for light
Hearts begging for comfort and warmth
Thankfully, the snow brings sparkles
With purity to the brown barren land
Where fun can be found and seen
As people watch with new wonder
At the perfection of falling snowflakes
Crystalizing dreams, alive once again

Isomer

My love dissipated into the stagnant night.
The element of hope dissociated, evaporating,
Nebulized by the lungs.
In great heaving gasps and salty residuum,
It left me
Over the hours, the weeks, the years
you did not come.
Thickly the remainder condensed within me,
A molasses of ichor.
Of the godly blood of infants,
still untouched, still golden.
Like honey crystalizing and darkening.
My love could find no purchase, no home, no return
With nowhere to go, it came to be grief.

My grief could not leave me
Could not run through my blood
The way that love did.
It trudged dutifully
Sweeping across the lumen laboriously, painfully.
My grief could not leave me
But it's stay was equally untenable
For a living thing, unsustainable, insatiable.
So the body, in self preservation
Pooled its surfeit humors, it's vinegar
To dilute the congealed state.
It buzzed and burned as sluggish poison tempered
Melting under smooth hydroxyl ideals
of fairness and fault.
Visions of transcendental creatures making right.
Anger put the power back in my bones
And clung like the rabid dog.

Love cannot leave you, not truly.
It changes shape, changes chemical composition
But it is always in living.

It can always be made pure again.
It doesn't need to hurt
You don't need to let it.

Trauma

Silver knife in the heart
Twisting
Crystalizing off of fear, building a fort to disappear
Forever
Black shadow upon my chest
Sucking the happines from my soul and leaving me among the rest
Empty
Running away from the stress
Choking on the truth
One neglect after another
Chaining me in a dark room, sunlight never shining in
A doll to control, stealing from the innocence
Taken while conscious, and gifted voidance

Only You

A place alone in solitude-
with space made just for two.

The dark around is imminent-
I'm not afraid when I'm with you.

Crashing down like thunderstorms-
which may strike us both down dead.

The winds which pose us danger-
fill our sails up now instead.

We find now calmer waters-
(and) leave behind our fears and woe.
Engulfed now in our flames-
amongst the crystalizing snow.

Unique and everchanging-
Our love is set apart from all.

Together clawing towards the top-
but still united should we fall.

And let me say, it does not matter-
as such seasons come and go to

I'll tell you now, my love is true-
(feelings) never just for show.

I shall not take the easy path-
must I walk it on my own.

I'll choose the blood paved, beaten path-
If I can cherish, more, your soul.

You see, the world has brighter days-
with many places meant for Safety.

But if your your name is danger-
upon the edge is then where I'll be.

The wonders of the world-
(and all) that does glitter so brightly,

could never take your place-
compared to you they are unsightly.

Nothing else exists for me-
except your blue green eyes.

So nothing could distract me-
from the future of our lives.

To yearn for one so deeply-
and to be tied at our Souls.

I've finally found the piece-
of which has now made my heart whole.

So how could I discard you?-
You're such a treasure to behold.

Your aura uncompared-
a gem of which, cannot be sold.

See, no matter the terrain-
be it sunny, storms or snow.

Nothing could change my mind-
as far as where I want to go.

I'll tell you now, once more, my dear-
we're gonna see this through.

Above all else, never forget-
I have eyes only for you.
