There’s something about winter Cold air, frozen ground, bare trees Bringing with it loneliness easily The dark of night arrives early With a certain kind of longing That molds memories of what is gone Like the color of autumn that passed There’s something about winter That makes some things linger Like lone leaves still hanging to branches Hard to forget, skies begging for light Hearts begging for comfort and warmth Thankfully, the snow brings sparkles With purity to the brown barren land Where fun can be found and seen As people watch with new wonder At the perfection of falling snowflakes Crystalizing dreams, alive once again Heidi Sands 12/4/17
