(Dove's Cooing)

Red roses
a tribute
to loved one
roses have
very long
history
legend says
that Eve gave

a kiss to
a white rose
in Garden
of Eden
Cupid bled
on roses
cause lost love
instead then

Another says
Cleo strew
room with red
roses to
seduce Mark
Anthony
with perfume
and her woes

the wealthy
Romans lay
on beds of
roses too
these are a
few of the
legends I
share with you

Roses are
beautiful
a nice way
to express
affection
for someone
you care and
love profess

so give them
roses and
will make them
smile if sad
roses are
magical
make eyes glow
and hearts glad.

No Cooing of Doves

A big hole is in my shoe
My front tooth is on the loose
Poor car won’t start today

My best friend just ran away
He’d be better off as stray
3 days now we have no food

Thunder and the rain begins to fall
From the roof and down the walls
The flood rushed off with the bed

Empty pockets and broken smiles
Everyone turns away to hide
Is there any help to get

Money worries is what I have
I need some cash I pray
Can you lend me by the way

I’ll pay you back
But I can't tell you how or where and when
I lost my job again
The bad luck never ends

I have no money
Can’t buy honey
Nobody cares about me

I have no money
Can’t buy any honey
What's happening to me

Save me oh Lord
From this pain and misery
I’m losing all my hair
Life is just a despair

Save me Lord
I can’t stand this suffering any more
Feels like I'm dying
Nobody cares about me

My name is Justnoway
Better luck another day
I'm the black sheep of the family

Not a cent to call my own
No cooing dove to ease my soul
No satisfaction for the meek

Save me Lord
These awful sins are much too much to bear
Does anybody care

Save me Lord
My life is slowly coming to an end
Left without a friend

I have no money
Can’t buy honey
Nobody cares about me

Premium Member Cooing Wooing

He parted his thin lips to speak but stuttered
and only broken sounds came from his breath.
He wanted to express his love but uttered
something that just scared his girl to death.

With every vain attempt the words he muttered
often sounded like the cooing of a dove
and with these bird sounds she became quite fluttered
much wanting to hear words of sincere love.

She whispered something softly in his timid ear
something that would cease his crazy coo.
In a silent smile he told her this he wanted to hear,
the clean, cut uttered words of “I love you.”

Whatever the Weather

Extreme heat, mild hail at night, questions
But at dawn, those venturing at 5, see signs
That autumn is rolling in like a ball of yarn
A challenge to equanimity, healing Shalom,
For the human condition urges overthinking
With God's gift beside me, I breathe, I breathe

Premium Member how i hate that cooing pigeon

My vices and my faults are legion
how I hate that cooing pigeon
pooping right outside my door

i cannot sleep for death entices
promises to end my vices
silencing my painful snore

and yet in vain I blindly struggle
beneath black blankets darkly snuggle
deny my essence to the core

within life's book the battle rages
against the truth of yellowed pages
scattered on the bedroom floor

she isn't here and never was
her memory a flaming buzz
is it the flame that I adore

scorched within and vilified
by endless nights wherein I've died
as pigeons cooed outside my door

the shadow of the swinging loop
the smell of two day old bird poop
it thus will end I'll bear no more

and yet I hesitate in fear
that she may somehow draw me near
engulf me in her flaming core

erase the pain of passion's past
share with me one last repast
a love, both lovers, so abhor

am I but fodder for her soul
consumed somehow yet still left whole
by a love we both deplore

Premium Member Directions To Our House

*** Directions to Our House ***

To find our house, you first go
Carefully down the towering show
Of those puffed cloud stairs
Touched by golden sun-glows.
Proceed to pass the nearby hilltop’s forested grove,
Where you might glimpse the hidden homes
Of some remaining urban fox and deer.
Then, turn left and leaning your body slightly back,
Go halfway slowly down the steep hill —
Trying not to slide out of your shoes —
To the point when your balance starts to screw loose
And take another left to halt your fall. Then
Tip-toe cautiously ahead, dodging at least
Four kids running back to home base,
Chased by three dogs barking,
Watched by two toddlers in red wagons crying,
And a mailman in his white van parking
By our blooming pear tree, and trying
To stay out of the way…So, keeping all that
In your far sight,
Take fifty short steps more to arrive and be by
Our brown, wooden house
— Set between a row of others just like it —
Where a pair
Of mourning doves has chosen
Our roof fly over and perch on, devoutly cooing
To each other from every dawn til the groaning.

Premium Member Aarohi's Smile

When Aarohi smiles
the whole world brightens.
Her face lights up
like the first morning sun
breaking through clouds.

Her cooing sounds
softer than whispers,
gentler than rain
on summer leaves,
weave stories only hearts can hear.

I watch her laugh
and time stands still.
The universe pauses,
breathless,
to listen.

In those eyes
I see everything that matters:
innocence,
wonder,
the pure joy of being.

Her smile heals
what words cannot.
Her coos remind us
of the simple miracle
of existence.

Aarohi,
your smile is home.
Your voice is magic.
In your laughter,
we all become children again.

Premium Member The Gift

wrestle the night away
until doves coo for sunshine
thank
you
insomnia
breaths left
this noise in my head
the imperfect man that I am
thought we had a deal
ask nothing owe nothing
you give this gift
anyway
and
it humbles me
